    Nice little find
I love the hill country and love going to different distilleries, wineries and restaurants while we our there. This is one that I will going back to visit. The staff was great and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Loved it!

Great distillery with an assortment of great liquors and liqueurs
I’ll start by stating that I take as many local craft distillery tours as I can. Nothing against corporate giants as they have their place. Stinson distilling is a small family owned and operated business. Their passionate and discerning about their products (quality and taste). It’s all small batch produced in custom made copper pots. The of thumb is continuous distilling for best possible product. They offer 2 levels of tasting at $7 and $10 per tasting. I highly recommend the $10 tasting, which has 2 or 3 more products to taste. The distiller also gave us a tour showing us the distillation process, talking about the grains, the water and the process itself. There are a wide variety of liquors and liqueurs being distilled on site: Vodka, Whiskey, Rums, Carjillo, Holiday nog, Elderflower and Brandy. Stinson works closely with local farmers and take the time to personally select the finest local grains. When I asked about the water used in distilling: I learned they could use local water but bring it in from 200 miles away in order to produce the best possible quality. They use Wisconsin heavy cream in the cream based liqueurs for the same reason. The vodka is as smooth if. not smoother than any of the larger vodka brands out there. It’s smooth enough to sip by itself, which I can’t say about most vodkas. I never heard of Carijillo and was admittedly skeptical but I’m a believer now. We liked it so much that we ended up taking a bottle home. It’s awesome by itself. I can’t wait to make tiramisu with it. The holiday no was also very good.. warning this is what egg nog is supposed to be. I can only imagine that it will be hard to settle for mass produced egg nog going forward. I have a bottle of a well known Eldeflower liqueur I purchased an while back. Stinson’s Eldeflower liqueur amazes my wife. I highly recommend this tour. You won’t be disappointed.
