AMC Mesquite 30, Texas, United States

3.5 (83 reviews) Spent Ranking #3 in Mesquite Movie Theaters

Nice seats - pricey snacks

Recliners are very comfy but the service and prices are not nice at all. 40 dollars for popcorn, two adult beverages, and some mediocre chicken strips. Guess it is not after all a restaurant.

Concession area and lobby need improvements.
8/20/22: We went to see The Orphan at 7:30pm. Bought the tickets through the AMC app. The soft drink area was very dirty. There was ice overflowing in the dispensers and the floors and mats were very sticky. Popcorn was not fresh, and there didn't appear to be any fresh popcorn available or popping. There were many teenagers hanging out outside and in the lobby area. The movie theatre was great, and the seating was very comfortable. The volume could have been louder, similar to the previews. We didn't take advantage of the dine in service, but will check it out on our next visit. I don't believe the menu prices are online.

    Prices vary by showing now
AMC Mesquite completely renovated the theater to add FOOD. The problem is they drastically reduced seating for popular shows. So instead of a theater which held 200+ folks it now has 35 decent seats, which can carry a premium of up to $5.50 extra and lead to disappointment if you simply show up to watch a movie like most people I know. On three separate occasions we have had to find an alternative movie or cancel. So check the show time and exact theater in advance if you can. It is great for folks who want to pick their seat and reserve it in advance. It is great for folks like me who if it is available want to have a meal in that theater. FYI try the Jack Daniel's brisket, it has been well prepared every time but other food is also great there. But once again while the food prices are reasonable for the portion size, and the service I have found is reasonable and comparable to a restaurant, you are adding a premium to the cost of the movie. It's the same movie that at another time and larger inside theater might be 1/2 the cost. The theater group decided to go upscale however I have noticed fewer crowds as folks start to chose other options for theaters where the ticket prices are less. On the other hand, there are fewer teens now, and much more serious movie watchers, since crying babies are not permitted. That is worth something, however I am not sure that helps the owners pay their mortgage. I would recommend a flyer be handed out or a different discount program. Since the theater only makes money on the food, not on the "gate", I am not sure I would charge more for the smaller sitting area. You want to encourage patrons to try the food, so perhaps you give them a $2 discount on the seats if they order a meal. Higher ticket prices resulted in a lower rating. I would rate the food a 4.5. The atmosphere has gone up from a 3 to a 4.
