Colorful varying scenery with a spectacular sunset made an interstellar horseback ride!

The two hour horseback ride at Big Bend Stables was outstanding! We had fantastic patient horses that were easy to control and were very confident in negotiating narrow rocky trails while ascending and descending out of arroyos and crossing stream beds! Our guides, George and Amelia were very friendly, very professional, and made you feel completely comfortable on the trails. We had a spectacular sunset and I got to take a lot of photos of it and the spectacular scenery along the trails. This was our second trip with Lajitas & Big Bend Stables and my wife and I Highly recommend George and Amelia and their horseback rides to any future riders in the Big Bend area!!

    RIDING OFF INTO THE SUNSET
Our sunset ride was fantastic....the trail guides were attentive and pretty darn funny too...especially Armando.... I highly recommend the sunset ride and these guys for any horseback rides in the Big Bend area.

    Beautiful views!
In December 2020, my husband and I did the 1/2 day lunch tour that departed from Lajitas Stables. Let me start by saying that my booking experience was great. I had called ahead and asked lots of questions (I think I talked to Haley) to ensure we were selecting the ride that suited us best. Signing up was easy and the information provided in advance was perfect. When we arrived at the stables, turns out we were the only two signed up for the ride. Our guide was Janelle. The ride itself was very nice. The weather was perfect, and the horses were healthy, sound and nicely mannered. The lunch provided was also tasty. We enjoyed the day very much. The views were spectacular, and we were both thrilled to experience the beauty of Big Bend in such a fantastic way. As experienced riders and being the only two participants, Janelle departed from the normal path, and we were able to do a little "exploring" as she called it. (We appreciated Janelle offering this little adventure.) I would recommend this ride to people who are comfortable on horseback and not afraid of heights or of riding on a ridge. Our only suggestion: please encourage your guides to engage with the clients and show a little interest in them. We learned a lot about Janelle, but she knows nothing about us. Not even our names or the fact that we LOVE horses and personally own 8 equine and operate a nonprofit horse rescue, training and adoption facility. While Janelle was nice enough, we basically were the audience to her 5 hour soliloquy. A day that could have been fantastic was made a bit tedious as a result. With just a little adjustment to her style of interaction, Janelle could be a very enjoyable guide. She certainly knew the area well, and we felt as if she was trying to offer us a positive experience. Wanting to end on a super positive note . . . we rode Shrek and Sophia. Janelle rode Indio. They were all just lovely, well trained and kind hearted. As people who are primarily interested in the well-being of horses, we were impressed with their condition and temperament. Compliments to you for raising and maintaining such happy, healthy horses.
