Texas Country Music Hall of Fame & the Tex Ritter Museum, Texas, United States

What a great place

This felt like a very peaceful place that is a capsule into country music history. Actual clothing these musicians wore are on display and autographed guitars. As well as items they once owned like baseball gloves or Tex Ritters horse saddles. All up close and personal, as if their telling their story only to you at that time you visit. It's a self guided tour. Be prepared to do a lot of reading if you want to fully enjoy this experience for 2 hours. Do your research on country music history around the 50s thru 90s before you visit because you will be lost if you don't. If you just run thru and look and don't read the exhibits, you will be out of there in 20 minutes wondering why you did not enjoy your experience. So go and stop and read the exhibits and it's disrespectful to do that to, to just give 2 or 3 seconds of your attention to an exhibit. Each exhibit tells a story, so read it or just don't show up.

    OK, I'll admit it...I was 100% wrong!
This is a treasure in the piney woods. I've known about the HoF for years, but not being a big country fan, I said "meh" but I was 100% wrong. The museum is a first class small museum covering a wide variety of artists from all over Texas. There is an emphasis on Tex Ritter and Jim Reeves who were from the area. I really enjoyed the outlaw artists displays including Kris, Waylon, Billy Joe, and Willie of course. And added plus is the free jukebox full of music of the honorees. It's a definite stop that merits a return trip.

    Double Thumbs Up!
Our visit was unusual in that our great nephew’s wedding reception was held here. The event was fantastic and the venue amazing. An intimate, well designed building holds numerous rotating displays relating to the stars of Texas Country Music. All the greats are here, with rare photos, historical background, performance costumes (fabulous), instruments and more. Ample off-street parking, big, sparkling restrooms, friendly staff make for a highly pleasant experience. Brought back lots of memories listening to Texas country music on the radio seventy years ago.
