River Canyon Adventure.
We had approached Desert Sports with a specific trip in mind , and they were very transparent about options available, and the weather and water conditions needed for each . The river canyon trip they were able to offer us was breathtaking in it’s beauty, and natural history ,was within our novice experience and ability level , and very relaxing , or maybe the word is soothing . I can’t say enough about the professionalism , organization and the updates offered by Crystal in organizing our adventure; much appreciated! However , I would like to single out how much we appreciated our guide Billy . If one could combine the best aspects of an amazing “ Field” teacher , oral historian , river guide , and Sheppard in the most literal sense ; and then put these skills in a person who exuded the non-intimidating approachability of someone like Mr. Fred Rogers in the best sense , that was our experience with Billy . I would recommend this outfitter to any interested party without reservation; but would go farther and say that Desert Sports is a wonderful opportunity for novice and inexperienced adventurers. In closing , I’d like to point out , that a portion of my reservation fee was refunded per their policy. But the truth is , that I probably wouldn’t have noticed ,nor asked , if not for their transparency, and lovely business ethics. Frankly, the trip would have been more than worth the original price . We hope to return to the Big Bend area when possible; and Desert Sports has earned the right to be our first option for Outdoor outfitters in the area . Thank you !

Guided Mountain Biking in Big Bend
My husband and I would totally recommend Desert Sports Outfitters to anyone wanting to do some guided mountain biking in the Big Bend area. Their rental bikes were amazing and top notch. Our guide was Zack. He was great. You can tell he loves doing what he does. He was very engaging, and very knowledgeable about the history and the ecology of the Big Bend area. We were scheduled for approximately 20 miles, and we ended up doing about 15 miles. My husband and I hadn’t been on mountain bikes in years. He paced us well and when he saw my husband and I struggling he knew it was best to shorten our distance. From making our reservations to completing the ride, customer service was great and everyone was very friendly. Their shop has some great items also! Chacos, sunglasses, fuel, bike accessories, hydration packs, and more. We’re looking forward to using them for a guided river trip next time we’re in Bug Bend.
