4 Star Places To Visit in Texas, United States (50)
4.5Klyde Warren Park(1.996 reviews) - Small, but worth a visit if you're in the area! Wednesday: 6:30 AM - 11:00 PM Parks
Accidentally stumbled upon this gem when we saw the lit up arches and fountain show when we drove past at night, and it looked so nice we had to make it a point to go back and have a walk around. Ended up enjoying it so much we went back a second time during the day, to check out all the great food trucks ringing the park. What a great place to hang out in the neighborhood! It's not large, about 2 city blocks in length, but the lawns are really well maintained, plenty of clean seating, lots of fun free activities (giant connect-4 set, ping pong tables, foosball...), stocked hand sanitizer stations, totally yum food trucks, dancing fountain shows with good music at night - it's not a must see, but definitely nice to spend some time here if you're already in the area!See more..

4.5American Airlines Center(1.388 reviews) - Stars vs Hurricanes Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Sports Complexes • Arenas & Stadiums
We went to watch the Dallas Stars play the Carolina Hurricanes on February 11th 2020. The game was fantastic as the Stars completed a 4-1 victory over a decent Hurricanes side. The venue itself was excellent as well, conveniently located and easy to access. Seating around the stadium is well placed, nowhere was too far away or had a blocked view etc. The seats are a bit tightly packed however this is the case at most venues. The seats for this particular game were very cheap as well; we figured we probably made a 'profit' on the night as the first 5000 fans received a free cap which I figured was worth more then the price we payed for the seats! The food and beverage service was quite expensive, more so than in Atlanta, but far less than other city stadiums. The stadium was also very clean which was good. I would definitely recommend going to watch an NHL or NBA game here if you have the opportunity.See more..

4.5McDonald Observatory(1.310 reviews) - It's worth the long drive and an overnight stay nearby. Wednesday: Spent 2-3 hours Observatories & Planetariums
The McDonald Observatory Visitors Center staff appreciate all of the positive reviews (and even some of the negative ones, too!) that well-meaning and well-intentioned visitors have left over the years. However, we feel that TripAdvisor does not provide anywhere close to the level of management tools needed to combat the misinformation that routinely is provided by, again, well-intentioned visitors to others visiting its pages. With no way other than the "management response" feature to cull and corral the sometimes wildly misleading information posted on these pages, we feel that using TripAdvisor for anything beyond getting the general feel of the establishment is pointless.See more..

4.5Alamo Plaza(1.227 reviews) - Order Free Timed Tickets. If You Struggle to Stand in the Heat, Advance Reading will Enhance Your Experience! Points of Interest & Landmarks
Be sure to order free timed tickets in advance. Our family spent roughly 20 minutes in the small but historically significant church. The timed system worked nicely to manage the # of people inside (creating a peaceful, reverent environment). During our visit there was an historical encampment behind the church and a film showing under a covered area at the very back of the property. Unfortunately, due to warm temperatures and a lack of seating, our family (all >60yo) was unable to further enhance our learning of the historical events which took place on this site :( We hope that the planned renovations will include an air-conditioned visitors center!See more..
4.5Waco Mammoth National Monument(1.224 reviews) - Amazing site to transport you back in time! Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
I was just seeing what was between Dallas and Austin when I came across this location. For the $10 admission price you really get your money’s worth. Parking is free and super close by. Location is handicapped accessible and there are clean restrooms at the main gate location. You walk down a path to take you to the covered site. Due to Covid-19 masks must be worn inside all buildings and only a limited number of guests are allowed in at a time. You may stay as long as you like as it is a self guided tour. Building is very well kept. Bones are amazing. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Gift shop is located up at main gate and is also very nice. Restrooms were clean and very well maintained. This location is a hidden gem and well worth the stop. There are hiking paths as well if you’d like to explore more than the dig site. See more..

4.5Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum(1.112 reviews) - A well-curated tribute to Texas's best law enforcement group. Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum is located adjacent to Baylor stadium. It highlights the development of the Texas Rangers from Stephen F. Austin's colonization or Texas through today, even reviewing some events which were embarrassing at the time and more so today. Great way to spend a hot summer afternoon. The exhibits are carefully cataloged and tell the story not only of the Rangers as a group, but of individuals and family groups dedicated to the tradition of keeping others safe. The website says to plan at least 90 minutes for the Museum; I suggest allowing a couple of hours or more. There's just a lot to see and read. Everything from clothing and equipment used by early Rangers, to equipment for the modern Rangers, to a 45 minute History Channel documentary on the most famous law enforcement agents in the world. Even the German Army in WW2 feared rumors of an invasion force of Texas Rangers! Add this place to your bucket list. You won't be disappointed. See more..

I admit I am a fan of this kind of place, but I really enjoyed coming up here and looking out over the two cities. We were just passing through El Paso, and I heard about this scenic drive. It was a lot of fun getting up here, and once we got to the parking area with the monuments and such, we spent a good half an hour looking down on the city. It was fun trying to pick out the border with Mexico and trying to identify other things. It was especially nice because we could see for 50 miles. Two days later I was in Los Angeles and couldn't see a thing.See more..

4.5Cameron Park Zoo(1.003 reviews) - Fantastic day at the zoo Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Zoos
This was such a nice zoo. It's small compared to some, but it is so well manicured. All the animals seemed happy and healthy, and all the exhibits were very clean. It is mapped out so well, if you follow the path, it takes you in a well organized circle. We walked the entire zoo with a 3 year old in about 3 hours. They gave incredibly nice educational tid bits at each exhibit and the way the enclosures are set up you sort of get a 360 degree visual almost guaranteed to see all the Animals. I love the running water feature that seems to go through most the exhibits giving the animals fresh water at all times. The lemur and monkey islands were really cool and are a very nice touch to the open air zoo experience. Highly recommend that if you are in Waco that you take a few hours out of your day to check out this really fantastic zoo.See more..
4.5San Marcos Premium Outlets(999 reviews) - HUGE outlet with a wide variety of stores Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Factory Outlets
My wife stopped here on forth of July weekend on our way back to Houston. It was in the midst of the Covid 19 case surge in TX, so we were cautious. We drove around the parking lot (huge) and parked near stores we wanted visit. All were responsible controlling the number of customers in the store as necessary, offering hand sanitizer or even requiring its use upon entering. One inconvenience was that some stores did not allow the use of fitting rooms. The return policy for some of those stores was a generous 60 days, but if there was no outlet store near you or you were not planning on returning to San Marcos during that time, you would think twice about purchasing. Other stores did allow the use of fitting rooms and sanitized the stalls as soon as customers would leave them. As a side note, if someone was looking for cool/cold weather items that were typically sold during winter months, there was A LOT of DEEPLY discounted stock - presumably due to the pandemic.See more..
