Great Facility that Does a Ton for Texas
Was in the area and have visited the website many times and so wanted to check out the facility. As we are now in Wildlife Management Ag Status and a TX Master Naturalist now wanted to see more of the native plants/trees in a true environment. As you know this time of year not to much flowering but still for my purpose saw many species I was interested in. The cafe had great tea and fruit for a snack and enjoyed browsing the gift shop. They have seed packs of some of the varieties but they are expensive, you can go on-line to the Native American Seed Company and get smaller qualities. The two things I missed them having is live plants we could purchase and a video program to tell visitors about the facility and what they have accomplished and what is on the horizon.

Great place to visit with kids. Pack your lunch as the restaurant is crowded and backed up.
The mama owl, Athena, comes back there every year to roost and is worth seeing just by herself. The admission price is such that you're better off just purchasing a yearly family pass. There is so much to see and do here and such large spaces to roam and walk -- wear your walking shoes.
