This was a pleasant and educational cruise. The captain was very knowledgeable and more than willing to answer questions and his crewman was always at the ready for the captain’s and passengers needs. I would definitely recommend going on a beautiful fall day like we did with great foliage views. It was only about 2 total hours including boarding and learning about the operation of the locks was well worth the reasonable fee for the trip.See more..

5.0Green-Wood cemetery(1.065 reviews) - Take the Fascinating Tour! Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Cemeteries
The history of this cemetery makes it a fascinating place and the best way to learn about the history is by taking a guided tour on the trolley. I don't recall the name of our guide but he was a self-described taphophile (cemetery enthusiast) who works at Green-wood. He was outstanding! He clearly has plenty of knowledge of cemeteries (especially Green-wood), is a great presenter, and is very enthusiastic which makes even the most obscure information interesting. Famous "residents" of the cemetery as well as famous and unique features (such as pyramids and obelisks) and zinc grave stones were highlighted. Highly recommended!See more..

5.0Proctor's Theater(587 reviews) - A Grand Theater Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Theaters
Proctor's Theater is absolutely lovely. The inside of the theater takes one back in time to a bygone era of majestic theaters. There is not a bad seat in the house, although I prefer the center orchestra area. The seats were updated a few years ago, and they are more comfortable than the old seats. Yet they are made for people with a smaller body type. We have attended many plays and performances at Proctor's over the years and the acoustics are very good in the theater. It is one of our favorite theaters.See more..

Explore a half-mile long ridge of 60-foot high rock forming crevices, passageways, and caves hidden in an ancient forest! Located just 15 minutes from Chautauqua Lake, Panama Rocks is one of the top-rated attractions in Chautauqua County based on independent reviews on TripAdvisor. The Panama Rocks formations are surrounded by a one mile long hiking trail, but most guests enjoy going off of the main trail to explore! Visitors spend anywhere from one hour to the entire day having fun and exploring the park. Picnic tables are available. The trail is relatively easy to hike (Class 1) and guests of all ages enjoy it, but there are roots, rocks, and uneven ground; it is still a hiking trail! Plan your trip to explore one of the most fun and popular "things to do" in Western New York today! Try axe throwing with Axcellent Adventures at Panama Rocks! Reservations recommended!See more..

5.0Lake George Island Boat Tours(538 reviews) - Smooth running outing and family fun all around Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Boat Tours
We have visited Lake George for years and always enjoy the excursions on the big tour boats. However, there is absolutely nothing like enjoying this beautiful treasure up close and personal while skimming across the water on our recent 3 hour outing with our family. We were so pleased with the space, comfort and cleanliness of our pontoon boat. Our captain Scott kept excellent communication with us for easy meet up at the marina and accommodated our wishes to fit in all the sights and fun for our group of 8 which included a 2 and 6 year old, parents and grandparents too! We appreciated his friendliness and patience. We enjoyed swimming off one of the islands, plenty of time tubing plus lovely views through the quiet narrows of Lake George. What a beautiful memory for all of us. We highly recommend Lake George Island Boat Tours for their excellent smooth running business practices and customer service attitude.See more..

5.0Rockland Bakery(493 reviews) - If you can visit, do it. Wednesday: 6:00 AM - 10:30 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
Rockland Bakery is one of my favorite memories of my childhood. The hot bagels coming off the assembly line are EXCELLENT. Some of the best bagels in NY. A few years ago, my friend overnighted a package of challah bread, bagels, bread, bakery goods from Rockland Bakery. My family and I were in heaven. You can't find bread and bakery products of such quality in Alabama . The closest thing Alabama has to a bakery is Edgar's (or what I refer to as sugar on steroids + lard)... horrible. Now I see that I can order online from Rockland Bakery so my dream has come true. I'm in the middle of placing an online order right now. I recommend the bagels, macaroon cookies, challah bread (absolutely to die for) but everything they make is incredible and the best you'll ever eat. You'll never look at another bakery the same again after you experience the Rockland Bakery products.See more..
Loved the Tree Top Adventure and Zipline. Everyone was super sweet, kind and explained everything over and over again until they made sure you understood what to do and hoe to be safe. Went with my 8 year old and 11 year old and we all had a blast. I was initially scared of the zipline but ended up having a great time. The adult courses 1 to 4 are not so easy and takes a lot to strength. Do not recommend courses 5 to 6 unless you have a lot of upper body strength. My 11 year old and I were wiped out after course 4. It took us over 2 hours to complete everything. Highly recommend and make sure tou book online, makes things easier. Bring your own gloves, something that has good grip ability. You will be using your hands a lot. Dress comfortably. This was our 1st time and we will do it again.See more..

5.0Wild Waters Outdoor Center(415 reviews) - Found our NEW every summer adventure! Wednesday: 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM River Rafting & Tubing
THIS is exactly the experience you hope to have when you think of going white water rafting for the first time! We are sooooooo happy that we chose WWOC out of all the other companies in the area. We really feel we got most bang for our buck by choosing the 17 mile trip with them. The views on the river were AMAZING!! The rapids, so much FUN!! Our guide, Andy, so knowledgeable and experienced on the Hudson. We felt extremely safe as he spun us around, swim in the river, let us jump off huge rocks, and also let us "crash" into some too. We really couldn't have asked for a better experience and have been recommending them to anyone that will listen (lol). I truly already feel sorry for any other company that tries to compete as they've already set the bar really high for our expectations. This was easily decided to be our new must do summertime activity; every summer from here on.See more..

Visit grantcottage.org for information. Impoverished by a Ponzi-style swindle and dying of cancer, Ulysses S. Grant moved to the Cottage on June 16, 1885. With the love and support of his family, publisher Mark Twain, and the nation at large, he completed Personal Memoirs of U.S. Grant days before his death on July 23. The publication of this two-volume work ensured his family’s financial security and gave the world one of the most critically acclaimed memoirs by a U.S. president or historic military figure. The cottage remains the same as during the Grant family's stay. Tour the downstairs of the cottage with original furnishings, decorations, and personal items belonging to Grant; including the bed where he died and floral arrangements that remain from Grant's August 4th funeral. The cottage is now owned by the State of New York and open to the public by the Friends of the Ulysses S. Grant Cottage. Located 9 miles from downtown Saratoga Springs!See more..
What a great experience! Our instructor was Steve (Stevie Nips) He was the most experienced and knowledgeable guide, we were glad to be with him for our first experience, we felt safe. He also had good knowledge of the area and it's history along with many sarcastic jokes lol. ADK River Outfitters did a great job with this excursion from start to finish. The photos they take are a great addition. My only suggestion would be to have a photographer go down the river once (without people) and take the majestic photos that cannot be taken any other way and have them available for purchase as well. Thank you ADK River outfitters for the great new family memory, and special thank you Steve!See more..

Lots of history is given by the founder of the cruise (by tape) of various houses and artifacts around this roughly three mile by six-mile lake and the various houses and structures built on the edge of the Lake. They had beanbag chairs on the bow of the boat which was utterly cool to sit and sail in. Doing a sunset sail on the Hudson River is now one of my most favorite things. 5.0Square Eddy Expeditions(193 reviews) - Best decision of the summer! River Rafting & Tubing
My friends and I had an incredible and full day on the River with Square Eddy. If I had to guess, I’d say the owners of this company are probably the most experienced guides on the river. Their great attitude and passion are evident and I felt like they were just overjoyed to be sharing the wonders of the river with us. From the safety instructions, to the provided lunch, to the actual rafting - everything was perfect and I remember thinking several times that I was thankful to be with Square Eddy after observing all the different fine folks on the river that days One of the people I brought on this trip has a strong fear of water (can’t swim) and was very nervous going into it. Our guide, Lori Phoebe, had him calm, cool, and collected the whole time! He kept saying her voice and instructions were so calming and he even got in the water several times.
