Well, I had a $20 stucked somewhere in one the machines. The cameras couldn't see it neither does the agent that was attending to me, he called his supervisor Charamine, very sweet and attentive young lady. She tried everything until she located my money. Otherwise I would have likely been viewed as a layer or a trouble maker. Thanks to the lovely hard working Charamine who also treated me with a complimentary card to ease my frustration. Big up yourself, job well done. See more..
  10. 3.5 Adirondack Scenic Railroad (385 reviews)
    - Good
    Scenic Railroads • Rail Tours
    Adirondack Scenic Railroad image
This was my 3rd time doing this trip and a lot has changed since my last time. The mansion in Thendera is no longer open as a restaurant. Infact it is falling down. But that probably is privately opened.plus the scenic "boat" ride was also unavailable. Personally I blame COVID for both situations. We met some fantastic people who I'm sorry to say I will never run into again. But I have memories. Thank you to the couple who were our "seat buddies". They were there for part of the trip as they went to the "restaurant car" because he was 6'3 " and a little cramped sitting us. A shout out to the gentleman I shared my chocolate purchase with. I was in front of him and bought all the remaining toffee not knowing he wanted some. Sorry Man. The only down side was I read the weather forecast wrong and could have dressed alot warmer. 11. 3.5 House of Frankenstein Wax Museum (338 reviews)
    - Had to try it once
    Speciality Museums
House of Frankenstein Wax Museum image
After nonstop begging to visit this place, my buddy and I caved and brought our older sons to visit. It’s a classic. It’s not scary at all. After walking the exhibit, I would recommend for kids 10 years and up, but not younger. There were a couple of spots that made the kids jump but they weren’t scared to proceed. The kids could tell it wasn’t real and was only mechanical statues. They enjoyed it so I’m happy we brought them. It’s a Lake George landmark so you should try at least once. See more..
  12. 3.5 Rivers Casino and Resort (301 reviews)
    - Small but very nice regional casino
Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent More than 3 hours Casinos
    Rivers Casino and Resort image
I honestly didn’t expect much after seeing the reviews of Rivers Casino when visiting Albany for the night but I was pleasantly surprised at the overall vibe and experience for a small regional casino. Are you going to think you are in Vegas or Atlantic City? No. But are you going to have good gaming options, a good vibe and really good food? Yes. The biggest negative is how small the gaming floor is - I mean - it’s small. But they had a great selection of slots and the casino was clean and modern. The clientele was also a bit better than some regional casinos I’ve been to - it feels safe. Overall, I would be happy to return if I was in Albany again! See more..

  14. 3.5 Tioga Downs Casino Resort (219 reviews)
    - Harness Racing and a good bar
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 3:00 AM Spent More than 3 hours Casinos
    Tioga Downs Casino Resort image
My wife and I happened across Tioga Downs en route to Corning and stopped in. We'd never seen harness racing before so we stopped in to watch the last few races. While we didn't go into the casino itself, the building is ornately decorated, and the bar offered a good range of craft beers. The harness races were fun to watch, and they were run close after each other, especially compared to the near hour-long wait I'm used to from Churchill Downs. It was definitely worth a stop. 15. 3.0 Darien Lake Performing Arts Center (179 reviews)
    - A good venue but parking is major problem
    Theaters
Darien Lake Performing Arts Center image
We attended a concert and found the facility adequate. The concourse area was cramped but sufficient. The restrooms had plenty of stalls but not enough sinks. Our big gripe is the parking. Space was mo problem but getting out after the show was a real problem. No organization and no parking lot supervision... This won't be an easy place to leave after the show. Allow 90 minutes.. That's how long it took us. See more..

    Vernon Downs Casino image
A short drive from Turning Stone. Dont know why but it seems dark and depressing but have always had fun and won at slots. In a way it is low key with alot of us old folks but if in area worth it for a short visit. Wish they would get rid of that stupid bell every time you win anything, brighten up the place, and upgrade the slots more. Still worth a visit. Staff was just fine See more..

We took our 23 month old granddaughter here. Charged $3. Per person to get in ( most farms in area charge nothing ). Place is nice for young kids and staff is friendly. Prices for produce and food was high - ended up getting pumpkins and apples for less at a grocery store. Very crowded on weekend. Will not return due to high prices See more..

    Barton Orchards image
On this day, it was a nice fall day. They were way way overcrowded. $27 per adult to wait on ridiculous lines for food or anything else. The apple cannons were not operating. The mini golf was not operating. This place could be worth $27 if it was not over crowded. I wasn't there to apple pick but I heard it was well over $20 to pick a bag of apples. There was a good band and alcoholic drinks were about $9 each. See more..

The six of us stopped here to do a wine tasting and the wine for some reason wasn't good at all. Most wines have a smooth finish or are have a crisp taste to them, but all the wines here that we sampled had like a bite to them for a finish note, we couldn't understand what was wrong. None of the wines had a smooth finish to them. We will not be going back again to this place See more..

The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge image
Played 5/3 Sat. Course was in horrible condition. Greens were ok, little slow. Fairways were beat up and 2-3 ponds are dried out and some bunkers were hard. They didn't really take care if the rough area either. Many dead grass areas and trees were cut off. I used to love this course 3-5 years ago. The course used to have a beautiful layouts with great condition and great scenery BUT in last two years, the course condition has been horrible!! It's like playing in a municipal golf course. I will not go back. Very disappointed. Restaurant does not open until 11am so no decent food in the morning!! Also, no free range balls!! See more..

The kids and I enjoyed a leisurely day spent among animals that one doesn't typically see. We were attracted to the venue originally as some of the animals came from a family member's zoo that was closed due to health problems with the family member - was great to see what a good home the animals would have (my son played with the baby wolves and other animals). The tractor ride was fun, with the driver being exceptionally friendly and fun. Great little park - a fun, relaxing day. See more..

    Westcott Beach State Park image
We went in May, 2014. It was great having our own little tiny private beach but there is also a separate beach for those campers who do not have sites located on the beach. The sand is not like Florida sand, ie, not groomed and perfect but it's nice to have it right outside your door all day long! The park police did show their presence which was nice to know. We also stayed here last year in the interior part of the park and it was also just as nice, quiet (no wind) and nice families playing at the volleyball court or on the jungle gym. The bathrooms are kept tidy and stocked. There is a little store directly outside the park for emergency needs (walking distance) but Sackets Harbor is not that far away, either. See more..

You have to have realistic expectations here. It is not Aspen, so don't come in thinking you are in Colorado. The people are friendly, the slopes are great for beginners, and the instructors are wonderful. My daughter was in the developmental program this year. 8 weeks later, I saw an intermediate skier. Thank you, Tuxedo Ridge, for fun and affordable skiing. We'll be back! See more..

There is a good food court and an arcade for kids. In the center of the mall, there is a cheery seating area for resting or visiting. The location is great because it is near a few strip malls and Wegman's. Barnes & Nobles offers a nice seating area and lunch or dessert choices. You can shop in the Dollar Store or Pier 1. - Good family walking tour plus the best cupcake ever!

    Best Tours image
This walking tour strikes a good balance between learning more about an interesting New York location/community and eating sweet stuff. The size of the tour group was about right (13 people) so we could hear everything. Our tour guide, Justin, was knowledgeable about both topics but could have been more engaging and enthusiastic in his delivery - after all, a tour like this is a performance. The tour delivers plenty of sweet stuff including three cupcakes (two of them mini ones), some large pieces of a good donut and several spoonfuls of gelato. Other than the charming West Village, the star of the show is choosing your own cupcake at Molly's Cupcakes. The chocolate cupcake with brown butter icing (recommended by Justin) was hands down the best cupcake I have ever eaten. Sensational. The only disappointment was the dry and ordinary mini-muffin from Magnolia Bakery. See more..

There is definitely nothing fancy or ornate about this winery, but the wine is nice. We tend to be toward the sweeter side of wines and there was a nice selection of semi-sweet to really sweet. I would not say this is the place for the wine snobs to go looking for high-quality cabs, malbecs, or the like, but for us the wines are very drinkable and we will be sharing our purchase with friends.
