5.0Segway Tours of Gettysburg (SegTours, LLC)(1.751 reviews) - One of the best Segway tours we've taken Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Segway Tours • Historical & Heritage Tours • Sightseeing Tours
My wife and I have been on many Segway tours on our trips. This tour rates right up there as one of the best, most professional, and very informative. First of all, Al did an amazing job as our safety person. He was very attentive and kept a close eye on everyone in the group in order to keep us all safe as we had to cross some Gettysburg streets. He brought some snacks and water for the group, which we all enjoyed. Our resident historian, Joe, blew us away with his deep knowledge of all the Gettysburg battles. Such a nice and caring man, which made it very easy to ask all the questions we had. The way he told of the battles was like being taken back in time. This is a top notch professional business. You won't be disappointed if you reserve your spotSee more..
My wife and I, along with four of our friends, did the evening covered bridge tour. Our guide was Brian. From the very beginning Brian was welcoming, friendly, and talkative. He made us feel at home and I really appreciated the free water to take on the ride. Our entire tour included 6 scooters and I believe three scoot coupes. He taught each group individually (scooters first, then he moved on to the coupes). It was well organized, and his ability to manage a group of that size safely was great. Every Rider received individual training/guidance if they needed it before hitting the road. The tour was absolutely beautiful. Everyone in our group was all smiles the whole time. The bridges and history are fantastic. All of us agreed that we would be doing another tour. this is a great way to experience the area and it is a fantastic memory to have.See more..
5.0Hickory Hollow Horse Farm(1.377 reviews) - A fantastic experience! Three generations a grandmother, two 30 year olds and a 7 year old all had a fantastic ride. Horseback Riding Tours
We went as a group of four. Hickory farms accommodated everyone from a seven year old to his grandmother with appropriate horses. My grandson got very nervous during the safety briefing but the staff was excellent; professional, clear directions with a kind firm manner was all he needed. As he fell asleep on the night of his ride he proclaimed "best weekend ever." Thank you Sarah, Pam, and particularly to the very kind lady who ensured that my grandson had a safe fun day. The only way the tour could have been better was if the historical guide had given a condensed "Cliff Notes " version of the battle before going into great detail. I have read four books on Gettysburg and have an interest and still got bogged down in two hours of details (without the personalities of the generals being more prominent in his talk.) A great day. Thank you all!See more..
5.0Refreshing Mountain(1.333 reviews) - Fun 5 Package Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 AM Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks • Sightseeing Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Horseback Riding Tours
We had a wonderful experience at Refreshing Mountain. The cabins were clean, the pedal cars, zip lining, and outdoor tree adventure were so much fun. However, we purchased the Fun 5 pack and by the time we finished three of the activities, the reptile room and farm animal experience were closed for tours. We were not able to reschedule, since everything was booked during our stay. This was disappointing. As a party of 10, we felt a credit or refund should be given.See more..

What a great time! Three of us showed up for the horseback tour of the battlefield and we were not disappointed! Right from the start, the staff at Confederate Trails put you at ease with their quick wit but were serious about safety and telling you what you needed to know about your horse. The earpiece to listen to the guide was great as we were in the front of the line and he was in the middle. I already knew a bit about the battle, but he taught me a few things I didn't know! The horses were sweet and polite and the length of the tour was just perfect. I will book again for sure! So glad I found this gem of a horseback riding experience in the beautiful setting of Gettysburg!See more..
5.0White Water Adventurers(1.146 reviews) - As good as I remember them being Tuesday: River Rafting & Tubing
I used to rent whitewater rafts from White Water Adventurers back in the 1980's and planned a reunion trip with friends and family on the Lower Yough. Their rental prices were extremely reasonable, the staff was helpful, and they made the whole process very easy. Charlie did a very good job with his safety talk -- mixing vital safety information with enough humor to keep people's attention. He was low-key and yet inspiring. The online waiver form is a bit of a pain and probably asks for more confidential information than is necessary for its purported purpose. That would be my only suggestion.See more..
Guide Larry K. was beyond amazing. He led my group on a detailed tour of the action on and around Culp’s hill. During the introduction atop the hill, a strong thunderstorm blew through. With rain falling and large branches coming down only feet away you’d think the tour would get cancelled. Larry didn’t miss a beat! Detailed accounts of the battles and the engineering that went into the breastworks of the hill relayed in exacting fashion. The weather only slightly improved over the remainder of the 2hr tour but Larry’s enthusiasm was never drenched. I can’t say enough about the experience. If you want to learn about Gettysburg, get yourself a licensed battlefield guide.See more..

5.0Ricketts Glen State Park(848 reviews) - Fun but difficult hike! Spent 2-3 hours State Parks • Waterfalls
We came to hike the Falls Trail. It was a wonderful hike, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who isn’t young or in very good shape. Don’t be scared off by the cantankerous rangers. The Falls Trail is beautiful even when the water is low. If you want to do a shorter hike, it takes about 2 hours to go down to Waters Meet and back to the parking lot at Lake Rose Trailhead.See more..

5.0Little Round Top(687 reviews) - Stepping back in time from above Historic Sites
Beautiful views of the terrain and Devil's Den below. When you put things in perspective and picture the scene below as a Union general from the Maine brigade watching the approaching outnumbered Confederate troops, it is chilling to imagine the loss of lives on both sides in one of the bloodiest battles in Gettysburg. You can walk a trail up to the top or drive. It can be quite crowded in this area with buses and even Scout troops.See more..

The 339-acre Kinzua Bridge State Park, is the home of the reinvented Kinzua Viaduct. Excellent food tour! This was the fifth food tour we have taken and this one rates right at the top. Out hostess Gayle did an outstanding job. She was knowledgeable of the area and history. She was entertaining as she took us through the tour telling us local stories and mixed it all in with some humor at times. The various stops offered us a nice variety of foods and the restaurant specialties, as well as a libation stop! And Gayle ,if you get to read this, thanks for not losing patience with my sister, who did the tour with us, as I think she sat on a cactus that morning! I highly recommend this food, but give yourself plenty of time to get there, as the area is quite congested as you near town.See more..
P.S.U was one of the happiest days of my life. It is out in the open near mountains. Wish I would have had time to go on nature walks. However, I spent some days walking 3 hours to classes. The classes in the freshman and second level classes were way too crowded. Glad to have gone to PSU Lehigh Valley in Fogelsville where I started a choir for credit and it was extremely personal. What a financial bargain that is and that is how I would recommend you start or community college till you get used to it. The smaller classes in the upper level were fantastic. i took a course on flowers and we identified them by microscope. I never remember having so much fun learning.See more..
We took the 2 hour walking tour with Kenneth Rich as our guide. We always use guides to receive the best information. Ken was very knowledgeable and had an easy manner. He was able to tell the story of Jennie Wade while weaving in facts of the day, pulling together all the details of her tragic end.See more..
5.0Laurel Highlands River Tours & Outdoor Center(568 reviews) - Family Premium Guided Tour of the Lower Yough Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM River Rafting & Tubing • Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks • Bike Tours • Climbing Tours • Kayaking & Canoeing
Our family of four booked a premium guided tour of the lower Yough on a Thursday. My husband and I haven’t rafted for 20+ years, and our kids (12 and 15) had never gone before. We had an AMAZING experience. Brandon was our guide and expertly steered us through the rapids - we were just the “motor” and he would tell us when and how to paddle. It made the trip stress free so we could focus on the fun of the rapids and relax on the quiet parts. We also stopped at Cucumber Falls, which was a short hike from the river. If you decide to hike, make sure that your water shoes have good treads because some of the rocky spots are steep and slick. Brandon brought us bottled water and Gatorades and we ordered boxed lunches a few days in advance. Our youngest loved the trip so much that she wants to go back for her birthday in a few weeks. Highly recommended!See more..

I visit the arboretum every time I visit State College, twice a year at least. The place is different each time, with seasonal blooms brightening the day. Beautiful lotus pond. Plenty of signage for those who are curious about plant names. They just opened a new section designed for attracting pollinators. Tucked around behind the restrooms is a paved area which is etched to represent the local watershed, showing all the local creeks and rivers. Interesting perspective. The children's area is well laid out and should prove stimulating for young kids. There are plenty of shaded and sunny benches scattered throughout the arboretum. Best free attraction in town. Note that construction has just begun on the new art museum next door, so the free parking lot no longer exists. Park next door for $1 per hour. See more..
5.0Lapp Valley Farm(506 reviews) - Best Milkshakes!! Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Farms
While staying in a rental about 35 minutes away we frequently visited this place. I definitely gained a few pounds from the delicious milkshakes. My favorites were vanilla, strawberry and raspberry. Also - Milkshakes are easy for the kids to enjoy when they are in car seats - little mess. Also, the milk and chocolate milk were delicious. The chocolate milk tasted like a shake in itself. We visited during the pandemic. I was surprised to see the crowds packing the outdoor seating not wearing masks. Needless to say we stuck to the drive through when ordering. Weekdays are definitely less crowded than Saturdays but still quite a few people. On a weekday we also walked the kids over to the cows to get a closer look. Worth checking it out if you’re in the area. See more..
5.0Ole Covered Wagon Tours(505 reviews) - Fun and Beautiful Views Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 AM Historical & Heritage Tours • Sightseeing Tours • Horse-Drawn Carriage Tours
This was such a beautiful ride through the base of the PA Grand Canyon. It lasted 2 hours and was $40 per person. It was well worth the money. The man who was the guide was excellent and very personable. I would recommend sitting in the rear of the wagon if possible; I think those were the best views and got pictures without the other people in them. Recommend.See more..
Just as great as the last time! Rebecca was our guide, we got to feed the horses, cows, pigs, lambs, goats, and chickens. Held rabbits, baby chicks, lambs, and even collie puppies. We collected eggs from the chicken coop, seen ducks and turkeys and took a wagon ride around the farm. This is our 2nd time at Old Windmill Farm and we will continue to return every trip to the area! The owners are wonderful and so sweet. All the animals very well taken care of and happy. It is free for children 5 and under, personally I’d prefer to pay 3 and over as the experience is more for the kiddos anyways. This is very much worth your money.See more..

5.0GettysBike Tours(389 reviews) - Good Experience Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Bike Tours
Bob was our tour guide and he did a lot to enhance our experience. He told detailed stories about the main leaders of the battle. He answered our questions and kept our large group moving. There were four of us and we brought our own electric bikes which also made our experience more enjoyable. Bob was amazing with his depth of knowledge of the three day battle and his ability to give long quotes that shared the war leader's own words with us. Very much enjoyed by us four.See more..
5.0Martin Guitars(374 reviews) - Wonderful $5 tour Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Factory Tours
Tours are given in small groups of no more than 6 with headphones so you can hear the guide over any noise from machines. Tyler, our guide, was very personable and knowledgeable. It was fascinating to see the various stages of assembly performed by people who were experts at their part of the process. Some steps were less clear - necks suddenly became attached to guitars without seeing anyone do it - but for a 50-minute tour, we saw a lot of magic. The museum is also very intestesting. The receptionist who greeted us was friendly and welcoming, and there are several guitars available to play.See more..
