Our family of four booked a premium guided tour of the lower Yough on a Thursday. My husband and I haven’t rafted for 20+ years, and our kids (12 and 15) had never gone before. We had an AMAZING experience. Brandon was our guide and expertly steered us through the rapids - we were just the “motor” and he would tell us when and how to paddle. It made the trip stress free so we could focus on the fun of the rapids and relax on the quiet parts. We also stopped at Cucumber Falls, which was a short hike from the river. If you decide to hike, make sure that your water shoes have good treads because some of the rocky spots are steep and slick. Brandon brought us bottled water and Gatorades and we ordered boxed lunches a few days in advance. Our youngest loved the trip so much that she wants to go back for her birthday in a few weeks. The drought across the country haw effected everything , including Tubing. It was fun but very slow because the river was running slow and low. We hit several parts we had to walk and it ended up taking 4 hours for a 2 hour trip. It was exhausting but still fun, I would recommend doing this but just remember that that it may take longer then expected. The only part I would recommend improvement on is the crew helping people out of the water. I am 68 and had a hard time getting out and all they wanted was the life jacket. So glad we found this place instead of Cook Forest Canoe Rentals. Pale Whale is on River Rd., a single turn off of the main drag (Rt 36). It’s not far at all but we overlooked it in the past because the other place is right on Rt 36. Pale Whale is way (WAY!) better than Cook Forest Canoe Rentals!! There is more parking, the equipment is much nicer/newer/better maintained, the transport vehicles are nice vans instead of ramshackle broken down school buses, and there is a little food stand right on site. Bonus: restrooms are clean and the staff is more than friendly and helpful. Pricing is comparable - might even be a little less. Plus they will transport you and your own equipment (ex: kayaks) upriver for 1/2 the full price. Then they pull your kayak out for you and carry it to the parking lot. What an amazing time on the Swatty. Our tour guide was informative and is an active conservationists for this Swatara. This is my 2nd time using Cocoa Kyaking and each time has been wonderful. We spotted a bald eagle, turtles, deer and a blue heron led our way down the creek. Thank you for a gorgeous 2 hours.See more..

Have lived in Phoenixville 16 years and this was the first time we did this fun activity. We went on July 4th weekend so it was busy. All of the water crafts were rented, so we had to come back later in the day, but they were nice enough to reserve 2 kayaks for us (me and my husband and a 9 and 11 year old). We did the full loop of the canal and river as recommended. Overall, was a very enjoyable experience. The toughest part of the journey was carrying the double kayaks out of the canal, across the gravel parking lot and into the river. Once we went down the river, had to do the same to get the kayaks back in the canal. My husband and I are in great shape and this proved to be very challenging. Would be great if they offered some assistance. But other than that, the trip on the canal and river was a great way to spend a great summer day!See more..
We stayed at the motel. They were able to arrange an early departure, which hinges on getting a driver to start earlier than usual. Our 40 mile ride north with 2 canoes in tow was fun. Don, the driver, provided very useful information on the communities, the river and some fishing tips. The canoe rates are very reasonable, and the equipment is in very good shape. If you are planning to do the 45 mile canoe trip, this is better than renting in Warren, PA and waiting for a pickup. We had 4-5 hours of heavy rain on our last night camping, and the river rose almost 2 feet, threatening to wash out our camp and canoes. Thus, we had to make an earlier than planned exit; but we had the flexibility of getting into my van leaving earlier than expected. Be careful in the fast water that is approximately 100- 200 yards before the pullout location!See more..

We had a fun time doing the 8 mile kayak trip. The river was calm and it was a relaxing, scenic trip down the river. I was not impressed with the staff. There were 2 men that came in the van to drop us off. When we stopped at the launch point they got out took the kayaks off the rack and then get got into the van and drove off. They did not offer to help anyone with taking the boats down to river or even ask if people needed help with adjusting the foot supports or seat. We've done this enough to be comfortable doing this but I'm sure there are a lot of first-timers who would appreciate the help. We ran into the same situation when we were finished with our trip. When you reach the rental location there is a sign to let you know it's their dock but again no help from the staff getting off the river or bringing your kayak up the hill. They had a tip jar in the van, I don't know what they think they deserve a tip for because they did the bare minimum for us. Overall, we had a great day out on the river and this is the only rental location I am aware of on the Kiski, so if you want to go out you need to use them but be prepared to basically be on your own. Our family was looking for something different to do after our trip to Hersheypark. I’m so glad I came across Cocoa Kayaks! Ben was very knowledgeable and informative on the history of the area and was great explaining how to navigate the water. We had the option to choose from a few different times and drop in points. We chose Boathouse Run for the best opportunity to view wildlife and to beat the heat! It was a wonderful way to start the day. The water was so calm and serene. Great adventure with Chief Mike & SOF Adventures! With the excessive amount of time we had been spending in the house, we wanted to get out and do something different. My friends and I had a wonderful experience renting some kayaks, and using the shuttle service for a nice paddle on the West Branch of the Susquehanna. It was a Sunday, and we were planning on paddling in Pine Creek, but had a bad shuttle experience there the previous day and decided to try something new on the way home to Pittsburgh. We called early in the morning before they were open, and Dave ended up calling back quickly, and he was very amenable to setting up our shuttle. We got there a little later than we had planned, but they were ready for us, and rapidly got us loaded with our personal kayaks and the rentals, and then we were on our way. To gloss over the trip, it was beautiful, and Dave had given us some tips on things to watch out for, including a bald eagle's nest. Great day. When we got to the takeout, we called Dave, and he was down from their location within 5 minutes. So a great experience....you can tell that they love what they do, and really look forward to repeat business and seeing you again.See more..
I took my family for our first kayaking experience in July 2014. I found Canoe S. online, booked the Annual River Town Paddle trip that benefited the Friends of Milton. Could not ask for a better guide. Alan and Jeremy are super friendly, very passionate, caring, and want you to have a safe memorable paddle. The susquehanna river is beautiful, lovely views. Very quiet, peaceful. Everybody was all smiles. They provided snacks, bottled water, and my favorite water blasters. Floating on the water, great, squirting water at your sister...priceless!!!! We floated for about an 1 1/2 stopped at milton state park for lunch. Had a nice park for my niece to play. Took an educational tour on one of the trails. Provided by the Friends of Milton. Floated another hour to lewisburg. Shuttled us back to watsontown. Looking forward to going back next summer!!!See more..
