We stopped by this beautiful building because we love the architecture and we’re library groupies. What a gorgeous place both as a library and as a piece of America. We had the great fortune of bumping into Maggie Forbes, the Executive Director of library who was able to tell us of the fascinating history of the building, the Civil War Room and the Music Hall. We do hope to be able to return for a performance. This organization is and continues to be a major community focus and deservedly so. Thank you to Maggie for making this a memorable visit. 9. 4.5 Easton Area Public Library (10 reviews)
    - My favorite go to place
    Libraries
    Easton Area Public Library image
I love my library. I go once a week to get books or audiobooks. But you have to appreciate the history of the library too. It was established in 1811 as a subscription library ($5 membership) with around 700 books housed in the front room of Peter Miller on 3rd. St. Land was bought in 1902 (German Reformed Church and Lutheran burial grounds) and a new building was erected at the present site with funds donated by Andrew Carnegie. Who knew. That must explain the tombstones on the lawn and the rumors of hauntings. The Marx room is a special place too. It houses local history and geneology, books by local authors, the oldest map of Easton, and the original flag of Easton. All this history in our local library. See more..

On your architectural walking tour of Scranton do not miss this building. Interior and exterior, upstairs and down it is beautiful. Stand and think what Gilded Age life must have been like in Scranton PA. In excellent library tradition the staff of the library encouraged us to look around and pointed us to the mall as the place where the "Welcome to Scranton" sign from the Office TV show resides. 11. 5.0 Hershey Public Library (9 reviews)
    - Very comfortable seating amid the books
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Libraries
    Hershey Public Library image
We had a few hours, it was a drizzly day (6/20), and The Hershey Public Library was just around the corner, so we decided to go check it out. There are parking lots all around the large sprawling building, but there is only one entrance, and that is through the front door. As we entered, we immediately noticed all sorts of comfortable seating areas. If you wanted to settle into a cushiony couch, they had them. If you preferred high backed chairs, they had those also. The computer station (about 20 computers) was packed with people. Many children in the large children’s room, and people scattered everywhere, reading newspapers, magazines, and books. Even with all these people, it was as quiet as inside a church. I needed to ask a question, and one of the pleasant librarians took the time to answer it.There is a very welcoming atmosphere here, and we spent a relaxing hour inside this library. See more..

  15. 4.5 Bethel-Tulpehocken Public Library (2 reviews)
    - My Home Library
    Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Libraries
This is probably one of the smaller libraries around and the place almost always feels crowded just because floor space is at a premium. They use every nook and cranny for displaying their lending items. It's not a quiet library, so studying might best be done at home. The staff is just great! They are friendly and helpful. Besides the obvious, they also carry DVD's, music CD's, audiobooks, reference books, magazines, free internet access on in-house computers, free wi-fi, and e-books. There are weekly and monthly activities throughout the year that meet regularly, such as Storytime, Book Club for adults, and Movie Night. This library is very children oriented, with many classes to enrich their lives, art, holiday parties, a summer reading program, homeschooling support, and writing classes. You will feel welcome here while finding something to dig into. And it's a free public library, just bring your library card or apply for one. See more..
  16. 5.0 Carbondale Public Library (1 review)
    - Best library in town!
    Libraries
    Carbondale Public Library image
Sure it’s only two floors, and the bottom floor dedicated to adults is split evenly between books and DVDs. Sure the inventory is limited compared to other towns, but it’s a public library – THE public library of Carbondale. It should be encouraged for children and families, not only for its educational benefits but also the economies of scale for the resources it provides to the community. Cherry Wonderdog approves wholeheartedly even though dogs aren’t permitted inside. See more..
