We went here in September to hike a trail as a break from a long drive. The trails were a bit hard to find, just off route 31 off of the Penn turnpike, but the break was well worth it. Located in the Laurel Highlands, the trails are great for hiking or birding, with the altitude and habitat creating a unique environment more like Maine than Pennsylvania. There is also a great pie shop on the way back to the turnpike. See more..

Did the Old Loggers Trail as a hike which was a hilly 5 mile loop. Was muddy in portions with ravine views, a creek & views of Raystown Lake . There are mountain biking trails at the same trailhead but the hiking trail is located across the street from the trailhead. Was not busy on a Saturday morning. The Raystown visitor center was just a few minutes down the street but was closed. See more..
