We stopped in the Visitor’s Center and the nice worker told us about the guided tour for $15 per adult. We splurged and are so glad we did! Larry was a knowledgeable former steel worker whose stories and information kept our attention, made the tour so much fun, and super educational. Take the tour and hope you’ll get him. Money well spent!See more..
If you are a real Civil War buff as I am...you will like this place! It is located away from the main battlefield and it was the site of a great cavalry battle! Confederate general Jeb Stuart and his cavalry attempted, at about the same time that "Pickets charge" was about to take place, to defeat any remnants of the Union army fleeing the main battlefield. However he was met by a Union cavalry with cavalry charges back and forth across this field! Eventually the Union cavalry repulsed the Confederate charge! One of the hero's of this charge and whose statue is shown above was George Armstrong Custer, who after the Civil War fought, was ambushed and killed at the Battle of the Little Big Horn by the Sioux indians! Markers describe this battle in detail....quiet, interesting site!See more..

4.0Millionaire's Row(20 reviews) - You Have To See It Historic Walking Areas
If you want to see where 19 Millionaires lived at one time along with beautiful architecture, this is the place for you! What is especially special is Rowley's Mansion. We were actually able to take a tour through the mansion and it was very impressive. Filled with antiques of the time period (none original but one) they are top quality and very interesting. The mansion itself is just incredible with the woodwork, wallpaper, flooring, etc. The tiffany glass is outstanding. Each tour guide was very informative also. The place was built in 1888 with some marvelous built-ins and fireplaces. The place has an interesting history that has allowed it to stay almost totally original.See more..

Want to know about the Lehigh Valley and the brick, cement, and concrete days as well as the local railroads then this up your alley. This is being reconditioned and needs alot of work and money to get it to become gorgeous again but seeing it in person one can only imagine what it was like 100- 150 years ago. The Ironton Railroad trail takes right to it. It is a nice place to walk, jog, or bike. Gene P Coplay, PASee more..
4.5Sutersville Trailhead(4 reviews) - Great walk Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Historic Walking Areas • Scenic Walking Areas
This is one on my favorite trails. Both directions are good but I prefer going south towards West Newton. It is a very easy straight walk following the Youghiogheny river . Talk some water as it's 4.2 miles one way and no where to get any till you reach West Newton. Really nice views.See more..
5.0Mt. Zion Historical Park(2 reviews) - Great hidden treasure Historic Sites • Historic Walking Areas • Monuments & Statues
This park outside Benezette tells the story of generations of residents of the Mt. Zion area. Starting with Native Americans and moving through our Nation's history. It's educational without being pushy. You can easily spend 30-45 minutes here learning about the region, those who served in our Armed Forces, and those who didn't return to this lovely area.
