4.5Evergreen Cemetery(232 reviews) - You absolutely cannot visit Gettysburg without visiting Evergreen Points of Interest & Landmarks • Cemeteries
We could write for an hour or more about what we have seen and learned from walks through Evergreen. Aside from President Lincoln’s Gettysburg address he delivered there in November after the battle, there are many, many wonderful folks and stories buried on these grounds. Plan an hour or so to walk this hallowed ground and see if you can identify where President Lincoln immortalized this location.See more..
We were headed to the see the Johnstown Inclined Plane and decided to stop by this cemetery. Cemeteries have always seemed to attract us. We are intrigued by the history, and the architecture of the stones, statues, and mausoleums. We knew that in this cemetery we would find the graves of the lives cut short by the Johnstown Flood in May 31,1889. The unmarked graves in the cemetery give you a chill as you look upon so many that were not identified. Grandview Cemetery today is one of the largest in Pennsylvania with about 235 acres of land. The cemetery sits high above Johnstown and has a beautiful view. There are more than 10 miles of roads that connect the 47 burial sections. We were fortunate to find many graves from 1889. May they all rest in peace.See more..
4.0Harrisburg Cemetery(30 reviews) - Interesting place to visit Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Cemeteries
My mother was doing a garden club showing at this cemetery because they have so many different type of trees on the grounds. Normally I would have never thought to visit a cemetery for anything other than to see a relative's grave, but I wanted to support my mother and went anyways. I am glad I did. My girlfriend and I had a good time seeing all the old grave stones and large buildings that some people are burried in. Make sure to look along the side facing Harrisburg to see the stone buidlings. And while I don't really care too much about the different kind of plants and trees that are there, but if you do this is a great place to visit. We spent at least an hour there and only walked about 1/4 of the grounds.See more..

4.5Evans City Cemetery(24 reviews) - They’re coming to get you... Cemeteries
Fun little pitstop for any Night of the Living Dead fans out there. This is the cemetery they filmed at. Headstones between Blair & Cole was where her fathers grace was, also Cole. The tall gravestone was the one Barbara hugged in fear while her brother was battling the zombie. I’m pretty sure the building has been rebuilt. Easy to get to & find. Nobody will bother you. It’s an active cemetery so please don’t vandalize or graffiti it up with d*cks. There is a NOTLD store in the town if Evans City as well. Stop at Harmony Inn to eat since it’s close by & at the Harmony Society cemetery with the big stone doors.See more..
My Brother-in-Law was buried here in July and it was my first time at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. I was speechless! What a fitting tribute to those who have served our country. Because of there sacrifices, we enjoy our freedom. I only wish I would have thanked him personally while I had the chance. These brave Men and Women paved the way for us to live the lives we do. Make some time, visit for the day and honor these true heroes for what they have given us.See more..

5.0Greendale Cemetery(4 reviews) - Beautiful and Peaceful Spent More than 3 hours Cemeteries
A beautiful, tranquil, place. No artificial plants are allowed so everything seems fresh. The meandering paths and roads can lead you for hours through the large graveyard. In May the many rhododendron are in full bloom and its amazing! A hidden gem that many people don't know about is a path through the woods that leads to a stream and waterfall at the bottom of the gulley.See more..
4.5Freedom Road Cemetery(4 reviews) - An underappreciated and very important historical gem! Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Cemeteries
We found out about this cemetery only because our friends' brother cleared the brush and weeds from it as part of his Eagle Scout project. As the historical marker says, the land belonged to Daniel Hughes, who helped fugitive slaves escape along the Underground Railroad. The occupants of nine graves have been identified as African-American civil war veterans, but others may belong to former slaves. I rate this cemetery 5 stars not because if its appearance. It really looks like an old cemetery, but that is the point; a place this significant deserves better.See more..

This is a small Cemetery and very easy to visit. It's located within a short walking distance of the Washington Junction T line metro station. Would only cost at most $4 round trip from downtown Pittsburgh. Cemetery is located behind the station. The entrance is on Connor road. When you enter just turn right and walk or drive up the hill and look for the Earth cam on the pole. Walk straight up the hill from the cam and you'll see the Cemeterys main attraction Andy Warhol gravesite and his parents directly behind Andy. Andys name was Warhola and shortened to Warhol. Andy is broadcast live 24 hours a day on Earth Cam. Don't forget to bring Andy a gift. The last time I paid my respects you could even write Andy a note. You can also bring your pets. Just clean up after them and don't ruin it for other fans and please remember this is a Cemetery. See more..

4.0Sugar Grove Cemetery(1 review) - Two Francises - A diversion if you need one... Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Cemeteries
...when coming to Ohiopyle State Park for some recreation. Both Francises are Medal of Honor winners from the Civil War and are buried here. From what I'm reading: Cunningham got his for capturing a Confederate Battle Flag, and Morrison for exposing himself to gunfire to help save a wounded comrade. I think it's a good thing to visit and remember these old Soldiers from a war maybe better off forgotten. Then again, both these men's sacrifices to fight for their cause seems extremely relevant these days. Maybe all soldiers from all sides of any conflict should be honored. Bring some bug spray: this cemetery is in the woods and I don't think the grass and weeds get cut that often.See more..
5.0Keelys Church Cemetery(1 review) - At least 30 unmarked plain rock grave from soldiers who fought with General Washington at the Battle of Brandywine. can Cemeteries These soldiers died from their injuries after the battle of Brandywine. General Washington brought the troops to what was then known as Keely's church on a hill overlooking Schwenksville. Many died from their injuries at the site. The DAR erected a memorial stone to the soldiers explaining the existence of the unmarked stone graves. Make sure to visit Moccia's Restaurant on Rt. 29 outside Schwenksville for cheesesteaks that are way better than any I ever had in Philadelphia. Try the upside down pizza too.See more..

West Newton Cemetery has 3 access points. You can drive in or you can access the older part of the cemetery from the GAP trail not far from the parking area. I used the GAP trail access path. This takes you to the older section from the 1800s. There are some semi-important people buried here. It's mostly a good break if walking the trail to relax, I recommend spending a few hours to enjoy the cemeteries peacefulness and to enjoy the nature as I did, There are lots of grey squirrels and if lucky you'll see the rare Black Squirrels which sparsely inhabit the Yough River areas around West Newton and Sutersville.See more..

4.0Bethel Cemetery(1 review) - Safe place to visit these days Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Cemeteries
Old cemetery with - according to a sign - sixteen Revolutionary War Soldiers interred here. Right next door is the historic Bethel Presbyterian Church which was closed needless to say. I walked around the cemetery for a little while trying to read the worn and faded lettering on the graves. When visiting any cemetery, I always try to imagine who the people were and maybe their relationships with other people in the cemetery. Seems to be a few major families well represented here. Anyway, I'm social distancing for the next couple months at least and need to get out of the apartme and get some fresh air and exercise during all this. Walking to, from, and around this place fits the bill for me.See more..
