We have made Herr's Christmas Lights one of our family's annual traditions. The lights are beautiful. We have been known to drive-thru the display MORE than once on our visit since we enjoy it so much. Each year it is similar to last, but they may make a few changes here or there. Even so, we never grow tired of it. The lighted forest is beautiful and almost magical to drive through at night when the base of the trees are lit in bright colors. We love the potato head people on the bushes and the hidden caterpillar beside the factory parking lot. Each year we take a picture of the kids at the lighted house. It is really a nice display and I love that Herr's puts this on for FREE for the community. Lights are on starting December 1st and run through the wee hours of the morning on January 2nd. Tours are given in small groups of no more than 6 with headphones so you can hear the guide over any noise from machines. Tyler, our guide, was very personable and knowledgeable. It was fascinating to see the various stages of assembly performed by people who were experts at their part of the process. Some steps were less clear - necks suddenly became attached to guitars without seeing anyone do it - but for a 50-minute tour, we saw a lot of magic. The museum is also very intestesting. The receptionist who greeted us was friendly and welcoming, and there are several guitars available to play. See more..

My husband loves Utz pretzels and potato chips. We were passing through the area and why not stop to stretch our legs. We found it interesting and enjoyed watching the children hurry to next window and listen to the narrative at that station. They have wooden step up platforms for the kids to see better. Appreciated the free bag of chips and 20% off coupon to use at the outlet store at a different location. See more..

Be sure to call and make a reservation. Tours are only offered at three times on Tuesdays only. We were lucky that we were able to be included with another group. The tour was great! You are shown the entire process to make potato chips. We even were able to see the truck unload the potatoes. Our tour guide, Louise was very friendly and informative. We were served fresh potato chips and kettle corn hot off the assembly line. yummy!! They have a small store selling their chips, popcorn and other items made by others. See more..
