    Blackbird Distillery image
Step back in time at Blackbird Distillery and experience old-fashioned moonshine made completely by hand, just like the old-timers did in the woods. Stop in to try a sample and listen to the staff talk about the history of moonshine and the whiskey rebellion.' Blackbird owners David and Jennifer Black pride themselves on producing their moonshine using a single run process. The shine is made in small batches, yielding just 40 fifth-sized bottles in each run, each resulting in a different alcohol proof. Their corn whiskey starts with mashing the corn by hand. The mash in then fermented and piped into the stills. Each bottle is hand-corked, sealed with hot wax, and labeled with the batch proof written by hand. Blackbird Distillery has 19 flavors of moonshine with more coming soon. While people rave about Blackbird’s moonshine, their canned goods and smoked meats and cheeses have developed a fan following as well. Blackbird smokes their own beef and pork jerky, ring bologna, and offers over 15 varieties of smoked cheese. You’ll love their homemade canned goods and moonshine barbecue sauces. For an unforgettable experience, visit Blackbird Distillery. See more..

    - Amazing Craft Cocktails
    Spent 1-2 hours Distilleries
    Bluebird Distilling image
This was our second visit to Bluebird Distilling. This place does not disappoint if you are someone who appreciates craft cocktails. The atmosphere is hip and the music is also awesome. Our first visit was for after dinner drinks with my son and 7 or 8 of his good friends. We tried several of the bourbon cocktails and they were all amazing. I also highly suggest the tasting menu. We chose mostly bourbon and they were all exceptional. On our second visit we were definitely not disappointed. The three of us had the Led Balloon. It was just as consistent and balanced as the last time we had visited. The sour Italian soda is delicious. I would highly suggest this place to anyone who enjoys an excellent cocktail. Excellent service, well-balanced cocktails, cool atmosphere= home run! See more..

    - Wonderful day trip adventure

    Liberty Pole Spirits image
In 1791, Washington County, Pennsylvania, was a heavily wooded wilderness at the headwaters of the Ohio River. Many Scotch-Irish veterans of the Revolutionary War had returned to the area and the rocky farms that they had established before the War. They struggled against the weather and disease, and being far from the East Coast, enjoyed few luxuries. But through the rugged ingenuity of those brave Colonists, one of the first American Industries was born. Whiskey. Years later, the stories of their defiance against the Federal Excise Tax on distilled spirits (AKA The Whiskey Rebellion) are preserved in museums, churches and cemeteries around the county. Now, heritage grain once again grows in the same soil they so dearly loved, travels down the paved paths upon which they drove the whiskey-laden mule trains, and arrives at a new Mingo Creek Meetinghouse where it is distilled and enjoyed by the next generation of the Mingo Creek Society. 27. 4.0 Boyd & Blair Potato Vodka Distillery (1 review)
    - An Authentic Small American Distillery
    Tuesday: Spent 1-2 hours Distilleries
Yes Boyd and Blair runs their potato vodka distillery with only 7 people and yes, they really do still label and fill their vodka bottles by hand, one by one! These guys do a short tour most Saturdays starting at 12 noon. Plan to enjoy one of their tasty cocktails before the tour, they do a nice job with them. Additionally, if you're a vodka drinker, you can buy a bottle or two after the tour. Apparently, groups make this a destination outing as while we were there, both a bachelor party group and a Ford Thunderbird car club group showed up for the tour. This is an interesting and fun way to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon. Recommended ! See more..

We visited the distillery with two other couples. They are set in an old gas station and garage. Nicely decorated with a small gift shop. They have several flavors of moonshine and all of them we tasted were very good. They also have some whiskeys. I am not a whiskey drinker so I wasn't going to try them but everyone raved about their Salted Caramel Whiskey. It is excellent! We bought two bottles to bring home for Christmas gifts. Definitely worth a stop! See more..

    - Great Spirits, Great Drinks, Great Experience
    Distilleries
    Pennsylvania Distilling Co image
Our whiskey club got to do a tour of the facility with the owner, Rich. Rich is a great host, who takes a lot of pride in his product, and is happy to have the opportunity to share the drinks, and the distilling process, with you. For our group, is was $15 for a tour and tasting, which went about 2 hours. Well worth the money. They do not serve food, but over weekends there are often food trucks outside, where you can find some good eats. We started off trying some of their mixed drinks at the bar. I recommend the Pennsylvania Railroad - some of their whiskey with espresso, orange and cacao. The tour was very informative. Rich shared all of the efforts he puts in to make his awesome spirits. The facility is immaculately clean. Make sure your bring home some of his spirits as well. The Dewey's No 69 bourbon is one of my favorites. But I also really enjoyed the Singla Malt Whiskey. Not a whiskey fan? Try the gin or rum. Both of them are awesome. PA Distilling is a great visit, whether you are stopping in for a bottle, cocktail, or a tour. Check it out, and tell Rich we said hi!
