I was pleased to be accepted to be invited to attend an art residency at GoggleWorks, and was able to meet just about all of the local artists who have studios in the building. I recommend you walk around the floors on a day when open studios are advertised to be open to the public, and chat with the artists. GREAT gift shop on the main level. GREAT movie theatre AND - please look for my art in the stairway. 4. 4.5 The Banana Factory (38 reviews)
    - A Neat Place for Artists
    Art Galleries
    The Banana Factory image
The town of Bethlehem has made good use of an old factory and converted it into a really nice place for local artists. The lay-out is like a school containing rooms and corridors with lots of art on the walls and pretty Murals along the walls. There are studios where artists were busy creating glass blown artwork. Shelves outside the studio displayed a lot of those beautiful creations and finished products. It was relaxing watching the glass blowing. Also loved the tiled mosaics on the outside walls at the entrance. The place was deserted because of the holidays. We were the only ones there – other than the artists, so we did not feel rushed. But we would certainly love to return for an art show when everything is opened up again. The parking is ample and admission is free. If you love a variety of arts, this would be a cool place to spend an afternoon. See more..

  9. 4.5 Merrick Art Gallery (18 reviews)
    - Beautiful Wedding Venue
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM Art Galleries
    Merrick Art Gallery image
I had my wedding here in December. I chose this time of year because it's the time of year that the Gallery is at it's most beautiful. It was decorated for Christmas. The ceremony was in the Art Gallery upstairs, and the reception was downstairs. The kitchen is a caterer's dream. The staff was amazingly helpful and did everything they could to help make the day go smoothly. The only drawbacks were the lack of parking, but they have since finished the parking lot, and the Bride's dressing room. That is basically a now unused small banquet room that is used for storage. I visit there often as it is a beautiful place to just look at art and relax. It is also wonderful for Photographers to take portraits and other photos. There is no charge for admittance, but there is a box for donations. When in the area, give it a visit. See more..

If you're lucky, you might find the artist at work in the shop. An added attraction is an adorable puppy who will greet you, and a peek into the adjacent house to see John's collection of antique furniture and decorative objects. If you check his Web site, you will see when John sponsors an open house and invites you into the home. Be sure to look into the garden to see the koi pond, too. See more..

Southern Alleghenies Museum Of Art At Bedford image
This museum is small in size but had two wonderful installations during our recent visit. The organization is a non-profit with a mission to bring art to rural communities. The staff/volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable about the works. Admission is $10, and we spent 60-90 minutes exploring. There is no elevator, so visitors should know the 2nd floor is only accessible if you can use the stairs. Artistic Expressions of the Southwest Spirit was the featured exhibition during our October 2018 visit. The works are diverse in subject and medium. Many of the artists are Native American, and some of the pottery dates to the 18th and 19th centuries. The 2nd floor showcases a local artist, and many of the painting were for sale. A Painterly Mouse: A Lifetime of Flora & Fauna features deceased Bedford County painter Melinda “Mouse” Myers Grass. I appreciate that the museum selected a woman whose works celebrate local flowers, wildlife, and farm animals. See more..
