    We stopped at Freeport Beach twice while we were in the area. It is easy to find, has ample parking and allows for a quick stroll on the beach. We enjoyed looking at the water worn rocks and I had hopes of finding beach glass but that didn't happen. The beach was quiet. The stones are great for stacking and had we had more time, I might have tried my hand at it. The rock strewn beach would be difficult to navigate for the elderly or unsteady. See more..

    Operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers this great recreational area is a popular, vibrant and very pleasant destination in Blue Marsh Lake area. We found it by serendipity looking for an attractive place to enjoy our holiday weekend lunch. Huge parking area allows for comfortable stay for a lot of visitors without feeling crowded. We picnicked bringing our own food and taking advantage of grills. We enjoyed bird watching and observed many visitors boating, fishing and kayaking.. The swimming beach was rather minimal and it is best to bring your chairs. Three boat launches are available . You can hike in an easy terrain or bike. The restrooms were clean. Very family friendly area. We spoke with some locals who described Dry Brooks Day Use Center as their favorite destination for spending summer weekends. The Blue Marsh Lake is very picturesque.
