Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center image
We wanted an outdoorsy type day that wasn't too crazy. We found the Forrest after a bit of a GPS adventure. If you have trouble, just keep driving, you'll see an alternate entrance and parking lot. We walked and followed different trails. They are well marked and there are even signs naming the trails or roads. It smells like a beautiful forest, and it is..it just hits you. And it's relaxing. Your cell phone won't even work. Its not far from civilization, but it definitely feels like you are took a step away from the world here. Take a small backpack with water and snacks. Maybe some bug spray too. Will definitely go back. See more..

    Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM Spent < 1 hour Visitor Centers
    Lycoming County Visitors Center image
Before heading out to explore Williamsport, PA, stop in at the Williamsport Visitors Center on Via Bella Road, in the Hampton Inn parking lot, next to Perkins. A VERY KNOWLEDGABLE woman ( and her friendly male counterpart the last time we visited) is alway ready with suggestions for neighborhood restaurants (including special deals and when too expect that parking will be difficult), local museums and attractions (it's amazing how much more Williamsport has besides the Little League Museum...there's Millionaire's Row, a library with an art glass ceilling to die for, a NASCAR museum located inside the McDonalds restaurant at the Lycoming Mall), and where to go to experience the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains. There are brochures (free), postcards, and assorted merchandise on sale inside--hours are listed on a sandwich board outfront. Have your Sunday brunch at the James Restaurant, and then walk over to the Williamsport Visitors Center--it's open and worth it!!!!!!!! See more..

Brandywine Valley Tourism and Information Center image
Rating based on advance web/email/phone assistance which was prompt and friendly. Unfortunately due to covid their hours were cut and they were closed. It's in an old historical church right outside of the entrance to Longwood Gardens. We drove past this 6 times until we realized the historical church (on the Underground Railroad self guided drive) and visitors center were the same place. Larger signage is needed. See more..

  26. 5.0 Clinton Visitor's Center (1 review)
    - As visitor centers go, this has to be in Top 10
Spent < 1 hour Visitor Centers
I stopped here to get some directions, as most visitor centers are usually very good at that. I was welcomed warmly and quickly was engaged in conversation about why I was in Clinton, and what I wanted to see. The center is very well kept and appears as if just built. There are displays about local history and things to see, artwork on the walls, very clean restrooms, plenty of parking, and, best of all, great advice. This is also a war memorial immediately to the side of the building, well worth seeing and reading about. While not in my original travel plans, the visit caused me to drive around and see more of Clinton. It appears to be a great place to visit, and live. Highly recommended. See more..

    - The most significant feature...
    Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Visitor Centers
    I-79 North Welcome Centers image
...of this high welcome center is the monument that stands in front of it. The Greene County Coal Miners Memorial, while dedicated to all coal miners, specifically states that at this site some 37 miners lost their lives in a mine explosion in 1962. There must of been a lot horribly grieving family members here at that time. The monument also has a bust of John L. Lewis, the legendary and controversial union leader and politician credited with bringing higher wages, health benefits, pensions, and safety standards for coal miners. All that is great what he did and what not, but why is a national union leader's likeness on this monument. Maybe one of the dead miners might be more appropriate. To me, I think it's just a ridiculous example personality glorification on what should be a memorial to a horrible tragedy. If John didn't have his hand involved in making this monument, some idiot did. See more..
  28. 4.0 Pennsylvania's Americana Regional Visitor's Bureau (1 review)
    - Excellent Staff
Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Visitor Centers
Reading's visitors center is easy to miss, located in a non descript office building with a few other business and little to no signage. I had called the center with a few questions a week or two before our visit and spoke with Margo and then spoke with her when we arrived at the center. She was outstanding, personable, full of knowledge, suggestions and offered all the maps and brochures you could have wanted. We have been coming to Reading for years and will have to come back again since there was still much we didn't get to. The center itself is tiny and it is a shame they don't have more space for exhibits and films etc.. to highlight the storied history of the Reading area. See more..
