  2. 5.0 Ricketts Glen State Park (848 reviews)
    - Fun but difficult hike!
Spent 2-3 hours State Parks • Waterfalls

We came to hike the Falls Trail. It was a wonderful hike, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who isn’t young or in very good shape. Don’t be scared off by the cantankerous rangers. The Falls Trail is beautiful even when the water is low. If you want to do a shorter hike, it takes about 2 hours to go down to Waters Meet and back to the parking lot at Lake Rose Trailhead. - Beautiful and informative

We really liked the information along the walk to the falls about the ecosystem of hemlock and brook trout. The info we had about the park to the falls said that the last 0.1 miles of trail is stairs but that the rest of the walk is stroller and wheelchair accessible but this is misleading. The trail to the bottom of the falls is entirely accessible by stroller/chair. Only the top of the falls requires you to take stairs. While walking the trail, there are several places to stop and take pictures of the stream in the woods. The falls are gorgeous but I must point out that it had poured rain the day before so we had great falls views. See more..
  4. 4.5 Cucumber Falls (309 reviews)
    - Beautiful Falls in OhioPyle State Park

The falls though beautiful was not too large. You can even walk behind the falls if you are feeling adventurous. And that is a great photo opportunity not be missed if you can manage it. The hike to the falls was quite manageable. There are stairs going down to a certain level after which you maneuver through the rocks and boulders to go closer to the falls. Parking is limited and required waiting for quite long to get a spot. Or you have to go and park in a different location and hike back on the road (no sidewalk). Maybe go earlier in the day or weekdays. After you’ve visited the Cucumber Falls, you can actually follow the trail and go all the way to the Natural Water Slides – they are connected. You can also hike down to the river and see the rafting boats starting on their adventure. See more..

    - Beautiful waterfalls, no people in the winter–– incredible when frozen

I recently went to Raymondskill falls one morning in January. Some water was still flowing, but a lot was frozen in these beautiful ice formations. I loved seeing all the icicles around the water too, and there are large ones hanging inside a small cave to the side of the path after the main set of steps going up to the higher viewing platform. I have also been here in the summer, and while there is no ice, the falls are still amazing! See more..

    - Awesome hike ends with view

This is one of the more crowded hikes. Definitely keep your mask on. There is a lot of traffic of people going in and out on narrow paths. We did a weekday hike to avoid the rush. It was still packed. There isn't much parking or restrooms so plan ahead. It was a lovely walk especially stop to see these jutting rocks with tree roots growing on it. There are side paths to visit the river we are walking by. We enjoyed the 1 mile walk. At the end of the falls we climbed up to see a better view. Its very crowded and no place really to swim. Of course swimming and climbing are not allowed. We enjoyed the views and time we spent. It can get a little chilly carry a sweat shirt. See more..
  7. 4.5 Buttermilk Falls Natural Area (32 reviews)

This site is about 20 minutes from where we live so we try to go once a year. For a smaller falls area, it is a great natural area to get out and walk around. The falls are about 45 feet in height. The falls were running heavier the day we visited - we have been here in the summer and the falls are much smaller then. There is a well maintained path and bridge that is built over the creek. There are now stairs to the bottom of the falls and you can actually walk behind the falls. There are 2 other smaller falls in the area and looks to be some stone foundation ruins nearby. There is an information board with pamphlets and map of the falls area. This land was owned by the McFeely's which were the grandparents of Fred Roger's from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. There are a few picnic tables under roof and restrooms onsite. There are a few walking trails (which I have never been on) Dogs are permitted but must be on a leash. See more..
  8. 5.0 Slateford Creek Falls (4 reviews)
    - Beautiful and easy to get to

Reading another review, I was misled about how to find it and tried Totts Gap Road. This led me down a lot of small roads bordered by private property. The easiest way to go would have been 611 to National Park Drive. From there, it’s only about 5 minutes until the road is closed from a bridge collapse. That’s where you park, and you’ll see two huge boulders to mark the start of the path. The falls are so beautiful, and the area was not very busy. We really enjoyed spending some time there swimming and taking photos. See more..
