  2. 5.0 Lapp Valley Farm (506 reviews)
    - Best Milkshakes!!
    Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Farms
    Lapp Valley Farm image
While staying in a rental about 35 minutes away we frequently visited this place. I definitely gained a few pounds from the delicious milkshakes. My favorites were vanilla, strawberry and raspberry. Also - Milkshakes are easy for the kids to enjoy when they are in car seats - little mess. Also, the milk and chocolate milk were delicious. The chocolate milk tasted like a shake in itself. We visited during the pandemic. I was surprised to see the crowds packing the outdoor seating not wearing masks. Needless to say we stuck to the drive through when ordering. Weekdays are definitely less crowded than Saturdays but still quite a few people. On a weekday we also walked the kids over to the cows to get a closer look. Worth checking it out if you’re in the area. See more..
  3. 5.0 Old Windmill Farm (497 reviews)
    - Our favorite experience in Lancaster County!
    Spent 1-2 hours Farms
    Old Windmill Farm image
Just as great as the last time! Rebecca was our guide, we got to feed the horses, cows, pigs, lambs, goats, and chickens. Held rabbits, baby chicks, lambs, and even collie puppies. We collected eggs from the chicken coop, seen ducks and turkeys and took a wagon ride around the farm. This is our 2nd time at Old Windmill Farm and we will continue to return every trip to the area! The owners are wonderful and so sweet. All the animals very well taken care of and happy. It is free for children 5 and under, personally I’d prefer to pay 3 and over as the experience is more for the kiddos anyways. This is very much worth your money. See more..

Great local farm ~ easy to get to and plenty of parking. We were "tired" of being stuck inside during this pandemic in Pennsylvania and the World. Wanted and outside adventure and ICE CREAM... Visited Merry Mead on a great sunny day. Everyone had their masks in place and stayed their distance ~ no issues at all. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Store had LOTS of good items (and of course, we had to get several things)... Ice cream was perfect for a special treat. And we enjoyed a walk around to visit the animals. Highly recommend to all. - BEST ice cream EVER !!
Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Farms
Klein Farms Dairy and Creamery image
We went in a warmer Saturday (50’s) in February. Small farm with a few animals - donkeys/sheep/goats/pigs/ducks/Guinea hens. A bit muddy but not too bad. No food in the feeders to buy to feed the animals, but the animals were friendly and liked attention. Kids play areas which weren’t huge but nice for a few smaller kids that were there. Small shop to buy hoodies/hats/shirts as well as local products like honey/pate & various cheeses. Best part of this farm is the homemade ice cream. Hands down the BEST ice cream I have ever had ! I’ve been to VT and had fresh made Ben & Jerry’s and this ice cream far surpassed them. I had the coffee toffee carmel bit ice cream and thought I’d died and gone to heaven. Their one scoop is huge and well worth the price. I was surprised at how many people there were for a Saturday in February but after tasting this delight…I totally understand why they were there ! A must go place if you are in the area ! See more..

    Tuesday: Farms
    Solebury Orchards image
We joined a friend with her three kids for a morning of picking fruit. It wasn’t very crowded and the kids found rows of blackberries, blueberries and apples to pick. Everyone was wearing masks and social distancing. You collected the baskets and bags and later paid at an outside counter, under a tent. Afterwards, the kids enjoyed apple juice and apple cider donuts and played on the wooden tractor. The grounds were very pretty. I will definitely go back in the fall for more apple picking. We drove @40 minutes to this farm, even with an orchard nearby. This farm was worth the drive! See more..

Freddy Hill Farms and Family Fun Center image
Visited with my grandsons and had a fun day at the miniature golf course and driving range - followed by ice-cream (that is made on site). We played one of the two miniature golf courses available at a very reasonable price. The driving range is large offering both covered stalls with artificial turf or out in the open on grass. Although I did not wander inside, there was also a fairly large pro shop selling golf equipment. The facility also has a baseball batting cage. Afterwards, we enjoyed an ice-cream. A wonderful family day at a very reasonable price. See more..
  20. 4.5 Strites Orchard (52 reviews)
    - Try the blueberry pie !
    Farms
    Strites Orchard image
Strites offers a blueberry pie made with those tiny little Maine blueberries.....and it is well worth the additional cost. Recently bought their blueberry pie to share with neighbors and EVERY single person agreed it was the best blueberry pie they have ever eaten. It was packed with blueberries, not with the usual gel or goo and didn't taste of sugar, just fruit. The crust was terrific, too, and we have a baker in our group who spoke highly of it ! The pies are actually made elsewhere and Strites receives them frozen. They are then baked on site....give them a try soon ! See more..

    Farms
    Rose Bridge Farm image
What an absolute gem of a place! I have driven by the entrance for years, never knowing it was here. There is a little sign on Limekiln Pike. Once you drive in, the fun awaits. My son and i signed up for the one hour Animal Husbandry tour. We loved petting goats, sheep, a small bull, even a big turtle! We also fed baby calves and goats. Baby goats love to nibble on anything! I recommend leaving your handbag in the car and wearing old clothes just in case. What a wonderful hour! The animals are really expensive to feed - hence the admission charge, all for a good cause. (They even had to pay to rescue the 3 baby calves we visited yesterday; and they are feeding the calves round the clock to counteract the difficult circumstances they were rescued from.) See more..

If there was a way to make this 6 stars I would. My family arranged a 2 hour trail ride. 2 had never ridden a horse. The crew was very professional and gave exceptional instructions. The trails were beautiful and a perfect place to ride. What was really impressive was the condition of the horses. These horses were born and raised on this farm and are not what you typically get when you sign up for a trail ride. The owner is fantastic and really made a huge positive impression on us. - My favorite greenhouse
Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Farms
Because of this covid pandemic, if that is what you want to call it. I was not able to visit Lurgans as early as I usually do. When I did finally arrive, most that I wanted was pretty much picked out. But to my surprise I was able to find many bargains at a discounted price. I just had to go with different flowers than previously planned. The people there are extremely helpful. I visit at least twice a year. Love the outdoor pond setup. The greenhouse is a little large for me, but I enjoy what I can. I never had a bad experience there. I love the fact that masks are not optional, especially where it was easy enough to keep 6' away from anyone. I specifcially do not wear one myself due to my copd disability, where it makes it hard for me to breathe in. I rarely go out to resturants and grocery stores because of madated masks. I recommend this place to anyone that loves plants and can't wear a mask. See more..

Lots of gingerbread on some houses. Really nice. Middlecreek Wildlife Management Center is just down 897 where you can see many geese, ducks when the pond is not frozen.
