    - Frank Lloyd Wright's Finest
Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
    Kentuck Knob image
In no way does Kentuck Knob come in as a lesser experience than nearby Fallingwater. The latter is a tour de force and absolutely worth visiting, but Kentuck feels more accessible as a smaller house and one you could imagine living in. The setting is a different kind of awe inspiring as the approach is though woods and the immediate setting intimate until you walk out to the "Knob" with its expansive view of the laurel Highlands. The house is a true gem, enhanced by the quality of the original design and construction along with the personal effects of the present owner Lord Peter Palumbo. It feels very special to be invited into a private residence by the excellent tour guides. Our visit was capped off by meeting Lord Palumbo in the gift shop where we had a pleasant conversation. 4. 4.0 Pagoda (434 reviews)
    - Oh what a sunset from an exotic landmark overlooking an urban landscape
    Tuesday: Architectural Buildings
    Pagoda image
Oh what a night! We decided to explore one of the highly visible landmarks of the greater Reading area and couldn’t stop taking photos as the sun was setting... We were transported. Hard to believe we were in Pennsylvania... felt and looked like from another day and age. Medieval times? Italy? France? At the Great Wall of China? Even the obvious Japan... Note, visitors may not enter the building at this time but you can walk around the building on two levels. See more..

  6. 5.0 Beth Sholom Synagogue (100 reviews)
    - A Living Monument to two men who shared a vision for "An American Synagogue"
Tuesday: Spent 1-2 hours Architectural Buildings • Religious Sites
    Beth Sholom Synagogue image
The design of Beth Shalom Synagogue reflects Frank Lloyd Wright's legacy of making every building he designed "one of a kind" with surprising, and at times, startling, features. Our experience there was enhanced by the skilled tour guide who could point out details of Wright's and Rabbi Cohen's vision that we otherwise would have missed. One could almost sense the presence of the architect and the rabbi in the sanctuary because evidence of their love for God and beauty was so tangible. There were 4 of us on the tour- two Jews and two Christians. All of us enjoyed the experience equally. The film that was shown before our tour gave us insight into the brilliance of the Rabbi (Mortimer Cohen) who was tenacious in recruiting Wright for the project. The film's narrator read letters the two men exchanged over the years of planning, drawing ever more closely into a relationship of mutual affection, respect, and creativity. See more..

    - Great Historic Attraction Right in Our Backyard

    Morgan Log House image
My wife and I decided to look for attractions in Lansdale, where we live. It is typical to go to attractions on vacation and the like. I like history so we visited the Morgan House. The house is unassuming in that when I think of a log house I think round logs. This log house wasn't quite like that. The logs were squared off. The house was great and the tour guide was very informative and easy to understand. I learned a lot about how people lived back then and we learned a bit about some history of our area too! We will definitely attend more activities at the Morgan house because I truly enjoyed it. I highly recommend visiting if you live in the area or are visiting. See more..
  12. 3.5 Baker Mansion (17 reviews)
    - Beautiful Baker Mansion
Tuesday: Spent 1-2 hours Architectural Buildings • History Museums
    Baker Mansion image
We checked in at the carriage house to inquire about tickets. Since the mansion was being prepped for the holidays we were given a guided tour by a lovely historian. She said since we were from out of town, she would give us a tour. The tour was fascinating. It was great learning the history of such a neat place. It was fascinating to see the furniture pieces that belonged to the Baker family. The many rooms (parlor, dining room, kitchen bathroom and bedrooms) were filled with neat stories backed by historical facts. The portraits of the family brought the stories to life. I'm glad I had the opportunity to tour the Baker mansion. See more..

This is being reconditioned and needs alot of work and money to get it to become gorgeous again but seeing it in person one can only imagine what it was like 100- 150 years ago. The Ironton Railroad trail takes right to it. It is a nice place to walk, jog, or bike. Gene P Coplay, PA See more..

Volunteers were knowledgeable about many related topics, but also encouraged visitors to share their knowledge. Although it is a small site, we spent an hour and a half. Good for adults who like household history, old home construction, and clothing. Site reopened mid-July after some restoration. Small village has some neighboring houses with interesting gingerbread. Scenic drive along Rt 6. Probably not suited for the fidgety. See more..

From vaudeville in the 20's to movie theater in the 50's and 60's, this historic building has been completely restored and updated without changing its historic ambience. No matter what event you attend--movies, music, stage plays or other events--you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended. See more..

It exhibits the life of Adam Schneck, who arrived in America through the port of Philadelphia. Some eight years later he and other German families migrated to the Lehigh Valley when the infamous Walking Purchase of 1737 allowed for the sale of lands which had previously been in the hands of Native Americans.
