    The Mountain Playhouse image
The Mountain Playhouse has been producing live, professional, Equity theater in the Laurel Highlands since 1939. The theater is a former grist mill which was discovered in Roxbury, Somerset County. It was dismantled log by log and moved to its current site in 1939. The theater opened on June 24, 1939, with a production of "High Tor." The theater is nestled in a beautiful lakeside setting just off Route 30 in Jennerstown, PA. See more..
  4. 4.5 Oyster Mill Playhouse (17 reviews)
    - Great Community Theater
    Theatre & Performances
    Oyster Mill Playhouse image
I've been to this theater three times in the last 2 months, to see several different kinds of performances - a comedy, and two plays. Excellent and local talent has staffed the Productions. It is an interesting little venue on the side of a creek, limited seating and interesting Productions. I love local community theater and attend often. What is great about the Oyster Mill is that they do a variety of Productions and take risks with some that may not be as well known or are difficult to produce in a small space.I I saw the preview for the current production, taking leave last evening. Everyone who has an aging parent or an aging child should see this production. It is a very clever presentation to real issues involved in caring for each other. I enjoy the production and noticed that there were many parents with adult children at the performance. I am sure that the play struck a chord with many of them. See more..
  5. 5.0 Millbrook Playhouse (17 reviews)
    - Lovely setting with talented staff
    Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Theatre & Performances
    Millbrook Playhouse image
I recently visited the Millborook Playhouse to watch Sister Act. I was impressed with how many people were attending this show as well as another show that was playing in an attached venue. The venue was charming and was a nice combination of talent (national and regional actors) as well as a homey, small town feel with the friendly ambience and round room seating. The seats were located so that no matter where you sit, you're part of the action. Wonderful venue with current and up and coming talent and a dedicated staff to support the theatre. Well worth the drive. I'm a new fan! See more..

  7. 4.5 Carnegie Library Music Hall (16 reviews)
    - Hidden Gem!
Spent 2-3 hours Concerts • Theatre & Performances
    Carnegie Library Music Hall image
If you want to feel like you are just jamming in the livingroom with your favorite musician, this is the place! It only seats 1000 and is only the second library with music hall ever built by Andrew Carnegie after the one in Duquesne! It's beautifully renovated. The library also boasts a gym recreation room and swimming pool also. The tickets to events are usually really reasonably priced. Parking is on street parking only. I'd suggest parking on 10th, 11th and 12th Avenues between McClure and Andrew Street. While it is fairly safe there, it is wise to not leave anything valuable within sight in your car while you are in the show. They do serve alcohol at intermission and snacks in the rec room. Bring cash! They do not allow drinks in the auditorium unless you buy one of their "sippy cups", which are reusable. The upstairs can get pretty toasty so dress appropriately! The seats are small as they are old. Feel free to ask any other questions I have not covered! See more..
  8. 4.5 Cook Forest Sawmill Center for the Arts (13 reviews)
    - Absolutely a Great Place
    Theatre & Performances
Cook Forest Sawmill Center for the Arts image
Every time we are in Cooks Forest this is on our list of “must visit” places. The crafts are not junk or trinkets but beautifully crafted items made by people in surrounding states. The lady who works here is super friendly and welcoming and it turns into a wonderful experience. It is off-the-beaten-path but a truly lovely place to visit. Skip the Knick- knacky shops and enjoy yourself! See more..
  9. 4.0 Sun Center Studios (5 reviews)
    - Enjoy the show but the venue is iffy
    Theatre & Performances
    Sun Center Studios image
I really enjoyed the show but that may have been because it was a gorgeous night. It is outside and performances are rain or shine so had it been raining this may have been a whole other review. Upon arriving you are charged $10.00 to park which I thought was high. There are some concession stands with wine/beer and food but we ate just prior to going so we didn't buy anything but t-shirts. Once seated I thought the chairs were so close together that I felt I was on top of the person beside me. I am not a big person and I felt uncomfortable being so close. Leaving the area wasn't too bad as they had police directing traffic. Not sure I would take the chance of going again because with all the uncomfortableness, sitting in the rain would just be horrible! See more..
  10. 3.0 The Book of Mormon (5 reviews)
    - Risque but oh so fun
Spent More than 3 hours Theatre & Performances
Catchy tunes and entertaining staging don't quite manage to disguise the fact that this is flat out mocking of a religion. One wonders if the cheers from media and the "elite" would be so loud if the religion mocked were something other than Christianity or perhaps if it mocked an ethnic group. Don't get me wrong, I laughed.... sometimes. Others I flinched. Occasionally I was sickened. Everyone has to decide for themselves. See more..

This group of musicians are amazing! I am not a country music fan but this was a very good show with a talented group. I accompanied a group to the Elvis and Buck Owens show and everyone loved the show. They all want to go for the holiday show so we are planning that trip now! Very impressed and everyone was very friendly! See more..

  13. 4.5 Utz Arena (3 reviews)
    - They Still Got It!
Spent More than 3 hours Theatre & Performances
Went to the Gladys Knight and the Ojay's show while in Pa. at the Utz Arena. A huge venue that seems like it can accommodate hundreds of people if not a couple of thousands. The show was fantastic. They put on a pretty good show. Show business has not taken a toll on either one of these groups. I loved the atmosphere, The concession stands had all of the Utz products, which I thought was so cute, it was spacious and not over crowded. Enjoyed every minute of this venue. See more..

    - Neat Theatre

The Royal has been refurbished over the years, and is now a landmark in Danville. They show up to date movies with free ones in the summer for kids. Its great. They also have live performances of music and entertainers; comedians, book readings. We are very fortunate to have this place in such a small town. Worth a visit if there is a movie or a entertainer you want to see. See more..
