5.0Pine Creek Rail Trail(206 reviews) - Lovely ride through the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania Spent More than 3 hours Biking Trails • Hiking Trails
We found the hard packed gravel trail to be well maintained and easily navigated with hybrid bicycles and an e-bike. The trial was not crowded; we rarely saw other bikers during our mid-week trip during the pandemic. The trail winds along Pine Creek and through many small villages, some of which have excellent lunch and/or ice cream options. The views are wonderful. Pandemic note: Most establishments followed precautions for COVID-19 despite the low to negligible rate in this area. Beware of a particular Inn and restaurant in Jersey Shore that followed none of the required or recommended precautions.See more..
Lake Scranton is a beautiful location to visit. The patch is very clean, patrolled by security and miles long. The lake is surrounded by woodland which makes it great to witness all sorts of critters. Unfortunately dogs, bikes, rollerblades and anything motorized is not allowed on the premises. There is also a large lookout point which is very scenic! I featured this lake in a vlog on my YouTube channelSee more..
4.5Perkiomen Trail(116 reviews) - Great Trail with Lots to See Hiking Trails
We did the north end of this trail from Collegeville up to Green Lane. It was a hot day so we started at 6 am and rode until about 9:30 am. We carried breakfast sandwiches with us as we could not find an place near the trail that was open early probably due to Covid. Trail was mostly shady for us, but it did come with a few hills- one was very steep and long- but it was a great 22 mile R/T ride. We did not do the southern half of the trail because it appeared to be very sunny and along side the road for much of the trail.See more..
The Montour Trail is presently 63 miles of picturesque pathways that connect precious peaks and valleys via scenic splendor and serene dimensions, mile after mile. Spring, summer, fall or winter...enjoy a leisurely walk or bike ride - take in the blooming flowers or fish in a nearby stream. The trial ensures the benches and historic plaques are frequent enough for small children and weary feet to catch a rest. Take your time and start slow with short distances for it is too easy to become distracted by drinking the view and finding yourself straining to get back to your car. First start with acquiring a map (finding the trail heads, parking and toilets) then if moving too slow, allow yourself the ability to hear others when they say "On your left!" as they pass. Or if you are quick of feet or wheel ensure your warning "On your left!" is given with ample time and clarity. See more..
It goes from Hellertown to Coopersburg about six por seven miles. Flat because it is an old railroad bed. There is water at beginning, end, and in the middle.See more..
Paved trail, was in great shape. It runs through mostly shady woods, with picnic area, porta potty near parking lot. One spur makes a 10 mile round trip, other spur is 14 mile round trip. I’m not sure how far if we road both. See more..
We travel all over the country biking on rail to trails. This one is the best. It blows Utah and Colorado away! Tunnels, bridges, eagles, deer, and tons of other wildlife abound. The history of the area is a bonus. Only downside: Middle-aged (like me) guys dressed in Lance Armstrong costumes who think they are on the Tour de France. These losers travel in packs, at high speeds, and yell, grunt, and complain if you don't stop and let them by. We bid a lot, and this is the only place we've run into this. It's not a wide path, but these glory day reenactors think they own that. Nevertheless, even with these losers, the path is still the best I've encountered. We've been on it at least 5 times this year, and we have to drive 2 hours to get there.See more..
4.5Hibernia County Park(40 reviews) - Walk in the Woods Spent More than 3 hours Bodies of Water • Parks • Hiking Trails
Hibernia Woods Trail runs along the Brandywine. Every so often a rider on a mount will pass by going in the opposite direction and exchange greetings, a tip of the hat or raising of hand. Much in the manner such greetings have been exchanged as travelers have passed during the trail's existence.See more..
4.5Chester Valley Trail(39 reviews) - Great biking Spent 1-2 hours Biking Trails • Hiking Trails • Jogging Paths & Tracks
This is a very nice bike trail. I've been using it for 3 years now. You can go from Exton to KOP and soon to connect with the Schuylkill Valley Trail... OMG... I usually get on in Exton and do my 6 miles up and 6 back. The north side of rt.29 gets hilly for a while.See more..
4.5Saint Clair Park(39 reviews) - City park... Spent < 1 hour Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
...in an old cemetery. Historic, faded tombstones randomly here and there - a spot of life and death. So much snow; I'm sure things covered and I couldn't see all. A nice place to come in good weather with a very awesome amphitheater to see and hear art. Oh again I fell - second time in only weeks. Not really hard at all but enough to make me know what I don't want to.See more..
The 571-acre Stroud Preserve is a mosaic of once-pastured grasslands, working farmlands, and woodlands that serves as a unique site for recreation, education, and scientific research. Here, you can see the needs of people and nature in balance as careful stewardship of both cultivated and “wild” areas restores vital wildlife habitat while also protecting watersheds that provide drinking water for tens-of-thousands of people. Stroud Preserve is one of many nature preserves owned and cared for by non-profit land conservation organization Natural Lands. As the Greater Philadelphia region’s oldest and largest land conservation organization, Natural Lands has preserved more than 125,000 acres, including 43 nature preserves totaling more than 23,000 acres. Some 2.5 million people live within five miles of land under the organization’s protection. Land for life, nature for all. natlands.org.See more..
4.5Samuel S. Lewis State Park(35 reviews) - Reasonable hiking Spent 2-3 hours State Parks • Hiking Trails • Playgrounds

4.0Mount Nittany(33 reviews) - Great hike for kids Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
We were visiting the town and wanted a less than 2 hour hike. We had kids from age 4 to 10, and did the shorter steeper ascent and descent. It was really fun for the kids and the adults. The views are lovely, go early otherwise it is crowded. There are also longer hikes, which we hope to explore next time.See more..

4.5Ironton Rail Trail(29 reviews) - Well-Maintained and Very Enjoyable Spent 1-2 hours Biking Trails • Hiking Trails
I live adjacent to the Trail and it offers a well-maintained place to walk, run, and bike. The trail's expansion is ongoing. The immediate circuit near me is 7 miles, which is more than enough for my needs, though I see many people drive to this location (Parking available) to use this trail. There are areas where flowers have been planted. There are benches scattered along the trail for a respite. And there's opportunity to view wildlife as they scamper about enjoying their day as well.See more..
5.0Peters Lake Park(27 reviews) - Small Park but lake for dog to take a dip Spent 2-3 hours Bodies of Water • Parks • Hiking Trails
We were looking for a place nearby our hotel to take our golden retriever for a quick swim and this place came up when I googled pet friendly beaches. It's a nice, but small park with a lake so clearly you need to get there early on the weekends if you want a spot near the shore. We finally found a spot for him to take a dip but it was less than ideal since it was at the end of a wooded path and the bank of the lake wasn't easy to get in and out of not to mention all of the downed trees in the water but it got the job done. Lots of fishing and boating going on here and seems to be a great local park. As we were walking around the lake I noticed that there was a bird feeder hanging in a tree and underneath there were several chipmunks which absolutely made my evening, it's the little things that make me happy.See more..
Historic site and event venue. Nestled along the Pickering Creek in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, the Mill at Anselma is an extraordinary artifact of 250 years of Chester County’s industrial heritage. The Mill retains its original Colonial-Era power train, as well as multiple layers of industrial equipment ranging from the late 1700s to the mid 1900s. Guided tours of the Mill are offered Saturday (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.) April through December. The Mill at Anselma is still a fully operational grist mill that produces stone-ground Bread Flour, Pastry Flour and Dark Roasted Cornmeal. There are monthly milling demonstrations on the second Saturday of each month from April through December as well as monthly special events.See more..
We hikes the north side of the trail two times, once in the evening and once the next morning. This is a really nice trail, all paved and nearly level. The weather was beautiful when we were there as was the river. This will be a new destination for us when we travel to this part of the state.See more..
This is a nice trail for young and old, runners or walkers. It is next to a creek, although you're above it, and you'll get to see all kinds of wildlife. Stop at Rita's on your way and enjoy a treat while enjoying mother nature. If you don't like walking or running in the sun this is the trail for you, because it's through the woods. See more..

Lots of visitors the day my friend and I went. Be prepared for a rocky, twisty hike, not for anyone with mobility issues. Consider other spots and other ridges less visited. This site has lots of school trips and kids that sadly, defaced the landscape with spray paint.See more..
Went here very early on a Saturday morning. Parking is a short walk away from the entrance to the trail. It's a little awkward because you're walking right beside Route 22 (William Penn Hwy). The steps start off easy. There is a nice sign that tells the history of the steps and area. After that it's go time, lol. It was so cool to climb out of the fog and look out over the area. Beautiful views! It's a pretty challenging climb going up and being careful coming back down, but well worth it. It took us roughly about an hour, and we stopped a few times to take pictures and rest a bit, lol.See more..
4.5Scripture Rocks Heritage Park(14 reviews) - A Truly Unique Experience Tuesday: 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Parks • Hiking Trails • Geologic Formations
An amazing natural and man-made wonder! There is literally nothing like this anywhere else! This beautiful park was created to showcase the rocks carved with scripture, but the natural environment is just as breathtaking, if not more so! Be prepared for a decent walk from the parking lot before getting to the actual scripture rocks, and even more walking if you want to visit the entire park, because it's bigger than you might think. Some of the inclines are steep, so it might not be for those with unsure footing. Highly recommended.See more..

5.0ChesLen Preserve(10 reviews) - Lovely, wide open park. Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Hiking Trails • Scenic Walking Areas
The 1,263-acre ChesLen Preserve is the largest privately owned nature preserve open to the public in Chester County. Miles of marked hiking trails lead visitors through shady woodlands, flower-filled meadows, fields of corn and soybeans, and stream valleys. Visitors can also explore Ollie Owl’s NaturePlayGround, where young explorers can climb logs, build stick tee-pees, hunt for bugs, explore small streams, and get a little dirty, tired, and inspired. Free play is encouraged and is a great way for kids to gain an appreciation for nature. ChesLen is one of many preserves owned and cared for by non-profit conservation organization Natural Lands. 2.5Evansburg State Park(9 reviews) - Hiked here for many years. The place has gone downhill dramatically in the past several. So disappointing. State Parks • Hiking Trails
Trails are trash any more. Poorly marked, overgrown, trees blocking many trails. Crappy drainage, tons of mud and horse droppings everywhere. Such a shame since it 5 minutes from my house. Compared to a place like French Creek this should actually be a 1 star park. C’mon PA, this place deserves better.See more..
The first time I rode this trail was something like 2010. I started at Ridgway. I only rode it to about half the distance. But recently, I went back and rode it again. This time from Brockway. I was truly impressed with all the historical sights. I loved the remains of the stone crusher. I wanted to hike up to the quarry but that was to much of a walk for me. Maybe next year. I also loved where the path meets the live railroad. I've ridden during the summer and late fall without any leaves. I was kinda surprise that it was just as scenic without the leaves as now you could see the creek and the live RR across the creek the whole way. The condition of the path was absolutely great and it some cases, better than some asphalt trails I've been on. This is a great path and lots to learn [even in light rain] and enjoy. High recommend it.See more..

We don't have our own ATV's but we love riding and try to find places that will take us on guided tours when we are on vacation. These places are hard to find - but we are so glad we found Rock Run. It was created in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps and you can still see some of their work. Small dam on Rauchtown Run created a small waterfall and a nice photo opportunity spot.
