We had a wonderful experience at Refreshing Mountain. The cabins were clean, the pedal cars, zip lining, and outdoor tree adventure were so much fun. However, we purchased the Fun 5 pack and by the time we finished three of the activities, the reptile room and farm animal experience were closed for tours. We were not able to reschedule, since everything was booked during our stay. This was disappointing. As a party of 10, we felt a credit or refund should be given. See more..

Laurel Highlands River Tours & Outdoor Center image
Our family of four booked a premium guided tour of the lower Yough on a Thursday. My husband and I haven’t rafted for 20+ years, and our kids (12 and 15) had never gone before. We had an AMAZING experience. Brandon was our guide and expertly steered us through the rapids - we were just the “motor” and he would tell us when and how to paddle. It made the trip stress free so we could focus on the fun of the rapids and relax on the quiet parts. We also stopped at Cucumber Falls, which was a short hike from the river. If you decide to hike, make sure that your water shoes have good treads because some of the rocky spots are steep and slick. Brandon brought us bottled water and Gatorades and we ordered boxed lunches a few days in advance. Our youngest loved the trip so much that she wants to go back for her birthday in a few weeks. Highly recommended! See more..

A picture perfect small waterfall with made for taking selfies viewing areas - it was dangerous getting close to it. Ice blanketing the paths was incredibly slick. Even some young guys with a drone warned me against walking all the way down. I had to try though and luckily nothing happened. I did see some girl fall twice carrying her dog. My husband and I stopped here on a Saturday in October 2020 around 1:00pm. We only went to the Barbour Rock Trail overlook. There are 2 trails that both go to the same Vista overlook. We took the Yellow trail. It is shorter in distance than the blue trail, but not as much a trail. It really felt like some people walked through the woods and kinda stomped down the vegetation and called it a "trail". My husband kept asking if we were lost because we were the only ones walking that trail. The blue trail had a clear path and had gravel down. The blue trail was much more crowded. I believe the yellow trail was a 1 mile total loop and the blue is 1.5 mile total loop. Whichever trail you take, the hike is worth it when you see that view. It was amazing. It was so peaceful there looking out over the mountains and the river that cut through. I would definitely recommend this trail to anyone that can do it. See more..

    Cook Forest State Park image
After years of wanting to visit, I finally got to explore this state park. Its beautiful with lots of wonderful trails to explore. We did the paved trail, and saw some moss. Then the Longfellow combined with the ancient forest, which took us through some old trees. We also parked near the fire tower and Seneca Point to see these two. Then took the River trail down to Henry Saw Mill Dam so we could se the only waterfall in the park. Its not a big waterfall at all, but it was still a great hike with scenery along the way. So many trails to explore so hoping to go back someday and see more. Maybe in the fall when the leaves are changing. Or the summer when we can do stuff on teh clarion river. We were there early May and it was sort of a colder and wetter weekend. In a way it was nice as their wasn't many people around and we had the forest where we were to ourselves most of the time. Beautiful park worth exploring. See more..

    Washington Crossing Historic Park image
The 500-acre Washington Crossing Historic Park (PA) hosts thousands of visitors every year, from local schoolchildren to visitors from around the world, who come to see the point from which a battered and dispirited American army launched a counterattack that reversed its long losing streak, preserving its will to fight and maintaining the revolutionary spirit that would lead to independence for the United States. But Washington Crossing Historic Park represents much more than a single event. Restored Colonial buildings in the park, such as the Thompson-Neely House and McConkey Ferry Inn, give many clues about living conditions during the Revolutionary era. Later, homes and shops reveal how 19th-century rural Pennsylvanians lived and worked. Among them are the home of a prosperous merchant, a village general store, and homes for skilled artisans. The park also contains Bowman's Hill Tower, Revolutionary War soldiers' graves, stone memorials, picnic pavilions and historic collections. See more..

    - What a fun adventure!

    Ringing Rocks County Park image
I took my 4 year old nephew on a fun adventure to Ringing Rocks yesterday and we had a ball! I was a bit nervous that he was too young but he was a champ and we made it through the day with all smiles and no injuries. He loved hitting the "special rocks" but I think enjoyed climbing and hiking down to the waterfall. The hike to the waterfall was a bit slippery and could definitely be seen as dangerous to some but we had good sturdy shoes and took it very slow and had no problems. The water was flowing and it was cold enough for icicles, we both loved the adventure! We arrived before 10am and there was still plenty of parking but when leaving around noon, the lot had filled up. It was an off season and chilly day so I'd imagine the place being packed on a beautiful day. We loved how quiet and peaceful if was when we arrived so bext trip may plan to go even earlier. Went camping in the Deerfield part of the park. The sizes of the sites vary and each comes with a firepit with grate. We had a site right next to the bathroom which was convenient but of course had to deal with foot traffic and the lights going on and off at night. The bathrooms are VERY clean. Showers are in another part of the park - didn't get to try them as our camping trip was cut short due to the weather. Walked around 10 minutes to the lake which was beautiful with no one else there (we were there in the late afternoon). Maybe it was the month that we went and the weather was in the 70s - but there no bugs at all. I was really surprised as I usually get bitten by tons of mosquitoes when I go camping. What I liked about this campsite was that each site felt secluded and private. We went with a group so we had a couple of sites. There were other families around us but we rarely even saw or heard them though they were not that far away. Would be definitely go back again. See more..

The place was easy to find and convenient! There was a campground and some more advanced star gazing domes you could rent across the street. Me and my boyfriend went to the public viewing area and hiked way back into the field. It was a full moon so hard to see a lot of stars once the moon came up but we enjoyed the moon instead! Would recommend bringing extra blankets and a pillow or backpack to rest your head. It got quite cool later in the night. ( we stayed until midnight). Looked like a lot of people left around 10 or 11 so if u want the place to yourself show up at midnight and bring some snacks! Quiet and peaceful place. See more..

Ales every child feel like a prince/princess. What a fantastic treasure locals have! We live many states away, but found time in our vacation to work on a 2 hour visit. It was hot and quote busy the day e went, but still so fun! We packed a picnic snack, and have plenty of shady tables from which to choose. I overheard a group of young mother's talking about their monthly meeting there. On girl said she had never been, and one girl said she had never even heard of it! That's sad for something so cool to not be better promoted locally. I found it on the internet before we ever left. Love it,over it!! See more..

    Codorus State Park image
Codorus State Park provides quite beautiful scenery along Route 216 in southern York County. Today, the waters were sparkling under a bright and unseasonably warm blue sky and sun. Various parking areas are found along the route for picnicking, fishing, and boating. Swimming is the main form of recreation not permitted except in limited areas, though it is not yet warm enough to consider that activity. Instead, contemplation of the beauty of nature on the convenient benches is appropriate. See more..

I've always wanted to visit this museum. Amazing artifacts, history, first hand accounts and large diorama showing the progress of the 1899 flood. I didn't realize there had been subsequent floods. Take the time to see the Oklahoma house. And, so not miss the movie on three second floor. The lady at the welcome desk was great. Though not free, $54 for all of us was very reasonable for all this museum represents and the history it presents. See more..
