It was the year 1829 when Americans were getting used to their newly elected president, Andrew Jackson, that 23-year old David G. Yuengling, an immigrant from Wurttemberg, Germany, settled in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and started a brewery. Originally named the Eagle Brewery, today the Yuengling pride, symbolic of the American Eagle. Each Yuengling label bears the eagle trademark chosen by young David Yuengling so long ago. Previously located on Centre Street, current site of Pottsville's after only two years of operation. A new brewery was then constructed on Mahantongo Street, where operations continue today. The brewery remains family operated by Richard "Dick" Yuengling, Jr. and his daughters are being groomed as the sixth generation.See more..

4.0Appalachian Brewing Company(187 reviews) - Wonderful Fall Weekend Getaway Tuesday: 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM Breweries
We stayed at the Red Lion Hotel which had lots of amenities like an indoor pool & an outside hot tub. The place is spacious with nice clean rooms, but could use a little updating. A delicious breakfast is included in a lovely dining area. We took a boat ride on the Pride of the Susquehanna, which was delightful! We stopped at 2 breweries in town-Appalachian Brewery & Lancaster Brewery-both had a variety of selections as well as food on the menu. There are many eateries to choose from with ethnic delights but we kept it American. This time of year had beautiful scenery with the leaves changing & falling every minute. We had a wonderful Fall weekend!See more..

4.5Arundel Cellars(76 reviews) - The Key to Fine Port on call Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards • Breweries
My wife and I have stopped at Arundel Cellars twice during the last six months when travelling in the neighborhood. Their wine shop offers affordable tastes ($2.00 for 6) of excellent wine but we wish they would rebate the tasting fee if you spend more than $30.00 on their wine afterwards. If you are on a wine tour, a stop at Arundel is essential. While there, pick up a bottle of Time-Keepers Port before launching your time machine somewhen else. See more..
4.0Erie Brewing Company(70 reviews) - Excellent Drinks and Service! Tuesday: 11:30 AM - 10:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Breweries
Erie has a lot of great breweries, and this is one of them! They have a happy hour between 4 and 6 on weekdays and some really awesome food on the menu as well. I've seen Crooked Eye change a lot from the early days until now, and it has all been good. Their Hazy Eye Double IPA is probably one of the finest IPAs I've had, and that's going up against some well-known, well-established and experienced breweries. A good group of guys who know how to brew good beer, and their staff is always on point as well. Stop by for a pint!See more..

4.5The Brew Gentlemen(42 reviews) - The Brew Gentlemen December 2022 Visit Breweries
In Pittsburgh last weekend for a wedding at Heinz Chapel. Coming off an intense, 8-day gout attack in the right ankle. Always visit Brew Gentlemen when in town (and hoped to bump into John Fetterman [a big supporter of BG]). Reluctant to aggravate my condition, I relented and had a 6-oz. Mexican Coffee draft. Absolutely blew me away (and no gout effects)! Wish it could be shipped out of state. Thanks for being there, BG!See more..

5.0Yergey Brewing(37 reviews) - Great People Tuesday: Spent 1-2 hours Breweries
We had a great experience at Yergey Brewing, the space has a great open feeling with a long bar staffed by friendly bartenders. We were greeted promptly, given monies, asked if the first time (for me yes), so a small welcome gift of a sticker came my way. I had a flight, bartender was helpful. Beer was solid, no complaints. The owner stopped by and welcomed us and we shared a laugh. All thru the visit everyone was friendly and went out of their way to make you feel welcome and a valued customer. The wrap food truck was outside on my visit, food was very good and reasonable. I’d definitely like to return.See more..

4.0Bullfrog Brewery(31 reviews) - Great Food and Brews Tuesday: 11:00 AM - 12:00 AM Bars & Clubs • Breweries
We were visiting for the LLWS and stumbled into the Friday evening street festival. We wanted a good brew pub and had seen info on the Bullfrog so while at the festival we stopped in for a brew and grub. Seated very fast in spite of large crowd in town. Short wait for service from our waitress and she got our order in promptly. Great local beer on the 7 choice flights. Food was hot and good. My reuben was enough that I had a takeout box with me when we left. Great place and with great atmosphere.See more..

4.5Liquid Hero Brewery(23 reviews) - Great place to kick back and have some great beer! Tuesday: 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Breweries
My husband and I were in the area and decided to try out some of York's microbreweries. Liquid Hero was a great choice! The beer selection was varied, unique and tasty. There was a firemen's bar tour going on so the inside was filled, so we sat outside and had a nice time as well. The only downside was that the inside is on the small side (lots of atmosphere though!) and there's minimal food selection. We appreciated that they have their own (small) parking lot. We'll certainly be back!See more..

3.5Railroad City Brewing Company(13 reviews) - Don't need to visit again Spent < 1 hour Breweries My husband and I are huge beer fans so we were super excited when this place opened in Altoona. Unfortunately we were not impressed. Truthfully, the beer was pretty good, but we were under the impression that we were inconveniencing the bartender by being there. When we were asking about the place we were greeted with short answers. There is next to no food so don't go there hungry. They played hardcore metal the entire time we were there, not our cup of tea. We were praying for an awesome experience yet felt unwelcome. See more..

5.0Aldus Brewing Company(10 reviews) - Worth the trip to Hanover Spent 1-2 hours Bars & Clubs • Breweries
What a fun little brewery! Hubby and I stopped in before heading downtown one evening and so glad we did! Cannot believe it took me so long to stop in here! The bartenders were so great and well versed on their product. They educated us on all the different beers and we loved doing a flight to taste them all. Super friendly and a fun place all together. It was not packed so it was easy to get a spot at the bar and hang out a while. We got a pizza to share and ended up taking a few bottles home with us as well as a crowler of the watermelon lime ade sour they had on tap which was fantastic. Cannot wait to come back again soon!See more..

4.0South County Brewery(9 reviews) - Good variety of ales Spent < 1 hour Breweries
South County Brewing is located in an unassuming warehouse with one side fixed up as a well appointed tap room and the other bring the actual brewing and storage area. One can get beers in small sample size glasses, regular glasses and 4-packs of cans that correspond to the list of brews above the bar that are currently on tap. I tried sample sizes of two different pale ales and two IPAs, and wound up buying a 4-pack of one of each type. I enjoyed the hops. Service was efficient and staff explained the different brews. There was a good mix of customers at the bar and ones coming in to buy cans to go. Good place for a relaxing afternoon or for stocking up for a party.See more..

One of the best breweries in the area! Simply put, it was awesome. Love the massive selection of IPAs and sours. My only complaint is they are outgrowing themselves a bit, running out of take out beer and their seating is becoming limited. Fantastic beer!See more..
This place is great for an afternoon of beer tasting. My husband sampled beer and I was the DD for the day. He loved every beer he tried and said it was unique, which is a high compliment; on Untappd, he has tried +1000 beers. We were greeted so warmly and had good conversation with the guy behind the bar, who also brews the beer. Don’t miss this place while visiting the area. We’ll definitely be back! (Just as an aside, there are snacks, but no food.)See more..
4.5Logyard Brewing(8 reviews) - Great Beers-Came Here Twice! Breweries
My sister and I stopped in here twice over our weekend stay in the area. We enjoyed it so much Friday evening that we stopped again Sunday afternoon on our way out of town. We even bought some "Kane Gear", T-Shirts that were kinda cool! Friday evening we met and chatted with some nice locals. Sunday we grabbed a quick beer, watched part of the football game and ordered the soft pretzels with cheese as a snack. Both bartenders were attentive and friendly and the decor is neat, their beer names are on saw blades and their beer flights are on logs of wood. They do have seating indoor and out, a few tables out front and a back area. We will be back!See more..
Had a great time there on Friday night, my first time visiting. Great live music being played, industrial/hip/comfy vibe, crowded but not crazy packed. Also kid-friendly. Didn't have a beer that I didn't enjoy, and thought the cheesesteak egg rolls and wings were both very solid. The bartenders were friendly, knowledgeable and quick with a recommendation. Good selection of brews - I thought the kolsch and the amber were very drinkable, and I liked the GameDay IPA in cans as a finisher before I moved on for the evening. Great times - thanks!See more..
5.0Rough Edges Brewing(7 reviews) - Nothing but good things to say… Breweries
First of all, the building is amazing. I just love that they restored/saved this old news agency & used the materials to incorporate into the overall design including vintage bowling alley lanes create tabletops. And the ceiling! Anything to bring good old Waynesboro back to life is a plus in my book. And the beer was great. They offer a perfect selection to meet every taste desire Including some wine for non-beer drinkers. Finally, the bartenders were super friendly and the crab pretzel was a delicious afternoon snack. It also looks like they have a good lineup of entertainment including a comedy night which sounds really fun.See more..
