    Don't skip the ranger talks!
I am so glad that the NPS maintains this site. They always do such an amazing job and this is no exception. When you drive onto the park and pass the chimes, you instantly feel that you are on hallowed ground. We were there on a beautiful summer day that was not too hot so we were able to comfortably explore the site. The interior museum was very informative and you could take a long or short time going through the events of 911, depending on what you could handle. The outdoor monuments from the upper level to the individual marble panels on the wall of names (individual but from a distance looking unified) were so well thought out to give honor and reverent memorial to those who perished. We learned that the families of the victims were involved in every step of the planning, down to the items in the gift shop. Some of our party chose to walk the path from the upper level to the monument while others of us took the short drive in our van to meet up with them. Everyone took in the memorial in their own time and then as our group gathered to leave, a ranger talk was about to begin. We hadn't planned on staying for the talk but upon hearing the beginning, we were all riveted. What more could a ranger tell us after we had all absorbed the whole of the site? Plenty! I have rarely heard a bad ranger talk at a National Park, but this one was extra phenomenal. We all know the story of Todd Beamer and "Let's Roll" however, this talk involved so many other stories of passengers and staff on the plane. The only thing we did not visit was the Tower of Chimes. Unfortunately, we did not have the time and the weather was very still so it was not the best time to visit. My understanding is that it is absolutely beautiful.

    Peaceful and beautiful
A sombre reminder that peace and security should never be taken for granted. It's been 20 years and still the images of the attack make me cry. This memorial was really well designed and the displays thoughtful, jarring and respectful all at the same time. The passengers who sacrificed their lives are forever remembered and honoured here at this memorial site.
