  1. 5.0 Bondi to Coogee Walk (15.0k reviews)
    - A Must!
    Hiking Trails
    Bondi to Coogee Walk image
A cliff top coastal walk, the Bondi to Coogee walk extends for six km in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The walk features stunning views, beaches, parks, cliffs, bays and rock pools. The beaches and parks offer a place to rest, swim or a chance to eat at one of the cafes, hotels, restaurants or takeaways. All beaches offer picnic shelters, electric barbecues, play areas, kiosks, toilets and change-rooms. The walk is not difficult, there are medium gradient paths and several staircases with occasional seating. It takes about two hours to complete the Bondi to Coogee Beach section of the walk and another hour and a half if you choose to continue to Maroubra. See more..
  2. 4.5 Lighthouse Trail (1.897 reviews)
    - Hard work
    Hiking Trails
    Lighthouse Trail image
The Journey... The Lighthouse Trail Byron Bay takes you on a hike through rainforest, beach, grassland and clifftops to the lighthouse. The Experience... En route you’ll wander through the shade of bangalow palms and ancient burrawangs, across kangaroo grasslands, along picturesque beaches and up to Cape Byron Lighthouse. Remember to keep an eye out on the water for turtles, dolphins, stingrays and, in season, whales. The Rewards... You’ll need a good two hours to properly experience the Cape Byron walking track – but it’s so rich in delights, so don’t be surprised if you reach the end and feel like doing it all again. In fact, it’s one of the most rewarding ways to spend a couple of hours on the state’s entire coast. See more..

    - A Must Do if visiting Port Macquarie
    Hiking Trails
    Coastal walk image
A spectacular walk along the picturesque coast. Some bush and some great coastline. Take a towel so you can have a dip at Flynns Beach. Improvements to the track were being made at the time of our visit so the trip will be even better hugging the coast instead of heading roadside for a km. A really enjoyable walk that I would grade as Easy/Moderate See more..
  5. 4.5 The Giant Stairway (623 reviews)
    - Difficult but worth it!
    Hiking Trails
    The Giant Stairway image
We did not do as much research it seems and accidentally stumbled upon these stairways. It was actually pretty steep and some of the stairs are actually carved from the mountain itself. We saw some kids and even moms carrying their babies on the back, and a local told us that she could climb these stairways in 25 mins. It took us almost 1.5 hours as we were behind these moms carrying their babies and took our time. I wore sport shoes and actually almost slip 2-3 times (for reference I am in my early 30s and while I rarely hike or do much outdoor activities, I’m an active gym go-er). Would highly recommend if you have the time and if you are fit/enjoy difficult hikes. See more..
  6. 4.5 Cronulla Beach Walk (467 reviews)
    - Beaches and bays
    Spent 2-3 hours Hiking Trails
    Cronulla Beach Walk image
The Cronulla Beach Walk follows more than four kilometres of the Shire’s coastline south from Wanda Surf Lifesaving Club to Bass and Flinders Point, where the Hacking River meets the Tasman Sea. The pathway passes stunning beaches, child-friendly rock pools, parks, playgrounds, cafes and period houses interspersed with lavish new homes and apartments overlooking the water. In the morning you’ll see locals out for a run or walk with friends, and swimmers striking out to the yacht buoy or Shark Island. In summer, watch nippers and lifesavers train and enjoy a dip at one of the many beaches along the walk. Everyone is out, from new mums with prams, families and kids on scooters to the stalwarts of Cronulla on their way to the RSL for lunch or a game of bowls. The footsteps on this walk have echoed since the early 1900s when Cronulla Beach was the place for Sydneysiders to holiday, and it remains a popular and social walk. See more..

  8. 5.0 The National Pass (171 reviews)

    The National Pass image
We walked as a family of 2 adults and our kids age 16 and 14, setting off from the Wentworth Falls picnic area and completing the circular trail in a clockwise direction. The walk is challenging in places, so there is a level of fitness required in order to enjoy. 'Slack Stairs' wasn't as bad as it was made out to be I felt. The infrastructure was secure, though some of the paths along the bottom were a bit rough. We walked at a steady pace and thoroughly enjoyed the walk which took us 3 hours. See more..
  9. 4.5 Kiama Coastal Walk (125 reviews)
    - Fantastic Walk, Stunning Views
Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
    Kiama Coastal Walk image
The Coastal walk from Kiama to Werri Beach is definitely a must do activity if you are in the area, there are some absolutely stunning views along the way. We began the walk at Werri Beach, the walk across the beach to the walking track was closed due the Lagoon being open to the sea, so we proceeded to walk along the sand closer to the ocean where we could walk around the mouth of the entrance to where the water from the lagoon goes out to sea, we then headed back to the walking track. The walk we completed was Werri Beach to Loves bay, which is 6 klm, there had been a lot of rain on the previous few days and parts of the walk were quite steep, slippery, and muddy, so you should be mindful of the footwear you have on, this section of the coastal walk is relatively untouched and can be quite challenging, however the views were just breathtaking, it is an incredible walk, it will live long in the memory. 10. 5.0 Grand Canyon track (112 reviews)
    - What an experience, amazing
Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
    Grand Canyon track image
We trekked this canyon with a guide, Jeff, from Tread Lightly Eco Tours and it was amazing. It took approximately 4.0 to 4.5 hours and we both descending and ascending the slot canyon during the hike. The Grand Canyon track itself is approximately 6.0km in distance and includes roughly 1000 steps. During this trek, we experienced spectacular views across the mountains, incredible rock formations, interesting vegetation and waterfalls. The most difficult part was the climb out of the canyon as it seemed to take forever and was pretty relentless. Well worth the hike and one which I would certainly recommend provided you don’t have any mobility issues. Amazing. See more..
  11. 4.5 White Sands Walk (57 reviews)
    - A beautiful and easy walk for any age
    Hiking Trails
    White Sands Walk image
This is a beautiful walk that gives you a taste of the magic of Jervis Bay. You pass through bush land, around coastal headland, and along white sandy beaches. Takes about an hour ambling slowly with children. Plenty of places to stop and rest for toddlers. You finish up at the Hyams Beach Cafe which is a great pit stop for a cool drink or yummy lunch before you head back. Walk can be extended at either end to make it longer by adding Plantation Point at Vincentia end or Hyams Beach walk at other end. A fab idea for a windy or cold day if you’re in Jervis Bay with kids See more..

  13. 4.5 Convict Trail (52 reviews)
    - Convict Trail from Devine's Hill gate
Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
    Convict Trail image
Midday, midweek, mid February we only saw one family of three on our walk from the Devine's Hill gate on the convict trail up to the start of the Shepherds Gully Circuit and back down to the gate. We, active 60+ couple, took 50 minutes on the way up including stopping at 13 information points, admiring the view and taking a few photos. The trail is unsealed and relatively easy on a dry day but not wheelchair or pram friendly. At the top is a good NPWS map with details of walks in the area. The downhill walk to the carpark was 25 minutes for us. The carpark probably wouldn't hold more than 3 or 4 cars. See more..

    - Look At Me Now Headland: Wild Kangaroos!!!

    Solitary Islands Coastal Walk image
There doesn´t seem to be a listing in Tripadvisor for Look At Me Now Headland, which is ridiculous since it´s one of the best experiences you can access in East Australia. It´s a short walk (700m) to a headland where you have a surfing beach to your right where you can take amazing pictures of surfers and a green pasture to your left where wild kangaroos are just lounging around and you can spend some time with them taking pictures and taking care not to disturb them. It´s a magical experience. Don´t miss it. It was one of the highlights of our 3 week holiday through Eastern Australia (from Sydney to Cape Tribulation). See more..
  15. 5.0 Mount Warning Summit Trail (43 reviews)
    - Mount warning alright
Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
    Mount Warning Summit Trail image
We hiked mount warning yesterday around 9am. The weather was perfect. Its a 5km uphill hike. But the last 400m is a scramble that requires upper body strength. Where you use a chain to climb a steep rock face. Once you get there the view is phenomenal. We spent a good 40mins up to for our break and got some awesome photos. Coming down was good. Because everything was down hill. But still need to watch where you walk. Because we came across to 8snakes, one of them was a black belly snake. In the end other ticket done on my bucket list. Recommend before you hike do lots of stretching. Whole body because your legs will be sore. Take a camel pack if you got one if not take a backpack with some hydralyte and lots of water and some snack. The walk takes about 2hrs going up and id say 1hr and half going down depends on your stop. Wear a hiking shoe or joggers with grips.also where a hat remember to take a small first aid kit and slip slop slap See more..

You understand that the Murray River is one of nature's real work of art on this work which is along the river (obviously) and as long or short as you want (several hours if needed). This track, a short walk from Springwood station is very busy, far more so than those on the southern side of the station. It’s also easier and more accessible than other walks near Springwood but you still need to take care of the occasionally uneven ground and steps. The vegetation varies from dry to wet forest. If you have a couple of hours free then this is worth the effort. A short half hour walk up the side of the crown (not overly strenuous) then you can wander along the top exploring as you go. Its an amazing part of the world - this granite outcrop rising out of the farmlands - the view from the top if excellent and worth the hike. Thoroughly recommended See more..

    Broulee Island Walk image
This is such a beautiful place, with an amazing array of different landscapes. The walk is easy, it took me 2hrs, so it'd take a fit person 60-90mins. Use the satellite view of google maps as your guide (not the standard view, which tells you you have to walk through the ocean!), but don't worry if you can't follow it, there are a fair few people around (even on a weekday in winter) so someone should be able to help you if you're lost. The Nyambagga Walking Trail is an interpretive track showcasing the intrinsic bio-cultural value of the area, encompassing the land and the sea. The Nambucca (Nyambaga) area is home to the Baga-Baga Clan (Ocean People) of the Southern Gumbaynggirr Language group. The ocean is their totem, it heals them and provides food, and their dreaming stories are connected to the ocean. The Baga Baga Clan invite you on to Jagun (home country) and trust you will respect MI mi wajaarr (Mother Earth) and look after ngarraambay-ngarraambay (the environment). The two of us chose to do the top walk - the loop. From there we could look down into the gorge and see the wonderful rock formations resembling the Bungle Bungles. I took my Nordic poles which was probably a good idea. There are plenty of steps but otherwise it was an easy walk. See more..

    Hiking Trails
    Gloucester Tops Trail image
We visited a week after a lot of rain. The fords were safe to cross (in case you don’t know - fords are river crossings where you drive through the water - you need to know what you are doing and have a car with good clearance), but still had enough water for the kids to find the drive exciting. The Gloucester Falls were flowing well and made the walk well worth it. The toilets well clean as well and the Gloucester Tops picnic areas are well maintained. Tip: Please do not stop your car near the fords and get out, like a group of families we saw. You create danger for the other travellers and your own family. Cars crossing fords cannot stop. 27. 4.5 Eye of the Needle Walk (18 reviews)
    - loved it - a must do hike!
Spent 1-2 hours Lookouts • Hiking Trails
Eye of the Needle Walk image
I found Paradise Park a little hard to find so let me give you good directions (if you need them). My GPS didn't find Paradise Park but it did find the Murrurundi Golf Club. Put that in and you will note there is some signage on the way, however it all of a sudden stops. Against all instinct carry on on the road you are on - it looks like you are headed out of town towards farm land.....keep driving and you will go through some bends of the road, then out of nowhere the cute Golf Club clubhouse will appear on your right. Keep going past this, and drive and you will soon find one park area and then another. Stop at the second park area - this is the base of the walk. I found this a short hike, not too demanding however I hike frequently. Once at the top I turned left and walked the 300 metres to the lookout. It was a beautiful view. I would love to hike this each season to see the difference in the landscape. Enjoy. :) See more..

    Turon National Park image
We have a landcruiser vehicle and were towing an offroad camper. The road into the national park is 4X4, very steep but when dry was quite an easy drive down into the beautiful valley below. We drove up and over a mountain to the beautiful Woolshed Flats, a lovely grassy area beside the river with lots of kangaroos grazing in the shade of the trees. We then decided to go upstream to the camping ground. You have to negotiate several creek crossings in order to get there. There is a bush toilet and lots of nice camping spots along the river bank. We wanted to stay the night but in the end decided to leave as the sky was overcast and it looked as if it would rain. One thing we didn't want was to be possibly caught by the river rising and the other was it may have been very difficult to get back up the steep hill towing a trailer in the wet. Definitely would love to camp there as it is so secluded, with so few visitors but would want to make sure that it wouldn't rain. See more..

Copeland Tops State Conservation Area image
We spent a couple of hours exploring the Treasure Hunt Loop. It is a Grade 3 walk but if you take your time is fine for "Oldies" like us. AS you walk up the hill there is so much to see. Just loved the Bird Nest ferns and Orchids in the trees . There are lots of story boards explaining the history of the area. I really pity the gold miners as they were stuck if it rained too much as they couldn't mine the ore. In times of drought there wasn't enough water to run the Stamper. There is a huge boiler in the bush and you go past a mine shaft which has a cover over it these days. What I loved the best was the huge Strangler Fig which was covered in Orchids and must have been very old. There were still quite a few old growth Cedar trees which was how the place was originally discovered by the Saxby Brothers. See more..

While the dirt road most of the way is suitable for 2WD, would suggest if you don't have the clearance of an AWD or 4WD to not attempt the last 400m down to carpark, park off road in one of several small cuttings. We had a reasonable amount of water flowing even after several dry months in the area but expect something spectacular after heavy rains. Midweek we were the only people there so very peaceful. Minimal walking distance to falls and also a steep fire track downhill for around 300m for different perspective. No facilities at carpark. See more..

Deniliquin and district is now officially on flood watch, with the Edward River just 3cm below minor flood level on 30 August 2022. Rising river levels have already closed section of the Beach to Beach Walk, inundated both McLean and Willoughby’s Beach, and closed the public boat ramps. And here I was... in September visiting only to find the water levels were still high and you could not do the beach to beach walk. I could most certainly do parts of it and it was so pretty... I saw parrots and other birdlife. There were river boats and it was very peaceful. This is such a pretty place to walk... well worth taking a stroll along. See more..

Waa Gorge is an absolutely beautiful natural gorge at the northern-most point of Mt Kaputar national park. Take the Warialda Rd from Moree, then take the Terry Hie Hie turnoff and follow the signs to Waa Gorge. The route needs a 4WD, and goes through a number of paddocks, so make sure you open and close the gates. Once you arrive at the carpark, it's a 10 minute easy walk to the beautiful mil-bullah waterholes. To your left is a rough track up the hill -- follow this, then walk upstream along the creek until you reach the gorge (about 20 minutes total). The gorge is stunning and a great place for a swim or a picnic. See more..

I was trying to walk through this area, which is difficult because of the horrid roads and drivers, so I turned up the road to Kellys Falls. From the car park, it's a short walk to the top of the falls (which were pretty heavy after the last few months' rain) and some good views. Very nice and serene even though it's not far off the main road. I could see an inviting pool at the bottom with a couple of people next to it but I don't think the Kellys Falls Track goes there. I went down the Princess Marina Track, which was nice and rough, and I think I heard some people working their way down the rocks toward the pool. See more..

There were several tour buses here taking advantage of this hidden secret of the Sapphire Coast...from Kangaroos to black cockatoos and a great beach that has interesting contours and sea life...bring a lunch and come enjoy this special place... We did the Bungonia Gorge Trail and stopped over to Mass and Grill Cave! This hike in our opinion almost on par with Carnarvon Gorge in central QLD. Although beautiful and picturesque this hike is not suitable for the faint of heart. Please only attempt the caves if you have appropriate equipments such a head torch etc. This is a GRADE 5 track that has a very long, steep and slippery slope going into and out of the gorge and the centre is unmarked trail that requires you to scale over, under and between bus size boulders. Please do not attempt this hike unless you are an experienced hiker and do your research first. There are also some easier hikes and lookouts in the area as well besides this one which are family friendly “Jonique Life” Follow our journey around Australia on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube as we highlight wonderful experiences and magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.
