  1. 4.5 The Three Sisters (3.270 reviews)
    - The Three Sisters
    Monday: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM Lookouts
    The Three Sisters image
The Three Sisters are an unusual rock formation in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia, on the north escarpment of the Jamison Valley. They are located close to the town of Katoomba and are one of the Blue Mountains' best known sites, towering above the Jamison Valley. Their names are Meehni (922 m), Wimlah (918 m), and Gunnedoo (906 m). View from Echo Point…An aboriginal myth surrounds this rock formation. Three daughters of a chief fell in love with three young men of another tribe but were denied marriage. A battle ensued and a village elder turned them into stone to protect the honour of the tribe. The Three Sisters were declared an Aboriginal Place in January 2014, making it the 98th place in New South Wales to be declared as such. See more..
  2. 4.5 Pylon Lookout at Sydney Harbour Bridge (1.798 reviews)
    - Pylon, worth the Walk
Monday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Lookouts • Observation Decks & Towers
Pylon Lookout at Sydney Harbour Bridge image
For those who want a great view of the harbor bridge and the city, this is a great and cheaper alternative to the bridge walk. It ends up almost half the height of the bridge itself and well for $19 vs $300+, it was well worth the price. Yes there are lots of stairs and when you think you are done there are more, but there are plenty places to rest and catch your breath and the stairs aren't steep. (I have bad knees and made it) . They have a video about the construction of the bridge which is interesting (Its in about 10 parts of little videos, but the whole series took maybe 10-15 minutes? See more..
  3. 4.5 Echo Point Lookout (1.688 reviews)
    - Majestic views
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts
    Echo Point Lookout image
We came here on two different days and had two totally different experiences and fortunately we stayed locally overnight. The fist day was rainy which resulted in a foggy cloudy day and we were literally up in the clouds and was mystical as we looked from the ledge. On the second day, the clouds cleared and the views were magnificent and majestic! Be wary that it’s paid meter parking around the area, so if you don’t want to pay, suggest being there after 5pm especially during the summer. See more..
  4. 4.5 Wentworth Falls Lookout (1.186 reviews)
    - Outstanding access to Blue Mountains National Park
Spent 2-3 hours Lookouts • Waterfalls
    Wentworth Falls Lookout image
National Parks has nearly completed a much needed upgrade of the over cliff walk from the car park to the Conservation Hut. Their track work is outstanding but it will still require good mobility to follow the full over cliff walk. This walk provides a great opportunity to experience the Blue Mountains National Park and it’s glorious views whilst not being to hard to access. You must wear comfortable walking shoes that may get muddy and take a weatherproof jacket. It’s not a long walk but still could be a challenge for some. There are a number of access and exit points if it’s becoming too difficult. The short track back to your start if you do the loop may reward you with a Lyrebird sighting! Always read and follow the National Parks safety advice that is signposted clearly at the entry points. See more..

  7. 4.5 Govetts Leap (633 reviews)
    - MUST do the Bridal Veil Falls walking track!
    Lookouts
    Govetts Leap image
We hadn't researched Govetts Leap before going and we couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. The views are incredible, you can see right out to the mountains and also waterfalls, plus there are toilets and picnic seating areas on site. We aren't keen hikers but we did the Bridal Veil Falls walking track which was signposted as 15 minutes. I am so glad we did. The walk down was fun, there's a lot of steps and you cross a waterfall lake which was beautiful. It's definitely suitable for people who aren't super fit but be warned that the walk back is quite strenuous as you're then climbing the steps back up. It does only take around 15 minutes and it's so worth it for the views you get, I promise! Definitely add this to your list of things to do at The Blue Mountains. See more..

Always a gorgeous walk but especially grand on a sunny day. Caught a ferry later the same day to view it, and the lovely city of Newcastle, from the shipwreck walk (Stockton). The Nobby's walk is flat - making it easily navigable by wheelchair, bike, scooter, pram or foot. See more..
  13. 4.5 Cape Hawke Lookout (244 reviews)
    - Great exercise for a good view
    Lookouts
    Cape Hawke Lookout image
Only a 5 min drive off The Lakes Way 10min south of Forster this is a must see tourist attraction for the able and fit. A steep meandering track up the hill with 4 rest spot seats conveniently spaced, this is a good aerobic workout for the 15 min climb to the base of the tower. Steps up the Tower are easy for a reasonable a coastal view over treetops. A memorial plaque is worth reading. The 10min down is a relative 'walk in the park' but even this can be interesting after wet weather. On a warm humid day it would be wise to have mosquito repellent. See more..
  14. 4.5 Saddleback Mountain Lookout (232 reviews)
    - Spectacular views in all directions on clear days. Short drive from Kiama
    Mountains • Lookouts
    Saddleback Mountain Lookout image
After a short drive from Kiama you arrive at spectacular view point. But there are a few lookouts so don't stop at the first one alone. Go up the track and find a walk down to the southern lookout ( a short, sloping track with a few steps) and there is also a western lookout - looking back over the valley and mountains. You may see a wombat here if it's quiet. Ensure you don't stay after gates are locked. For adventurers, there is a long, steep walk to barren grounds from Saddleback but ensure you have good maps and navigation & a car shuffle would be handy to avoid return trip. Alternatively walk down from barren Grounds to Saddleback. This track has steep gavel sections so good grip in shoes is required. You see kangaroos, lyrebirds and many other animals and birds on this walk. See more..

    Lookouts
    Hassan's Wall image
We were travelling through Lithgow and decided to head out to Hassan Walls to revisit. On the way up we noticed another lookout on top of a knoll and stopped to take a look. Fabulous views over the rocky outcrops and the valley below. We then drove only a little way further to the main car park. You have the most fabulous views over the valley below. Don't forget to go to the old little lookout where you have to crawl through an opening in the rocks to reach the lookout. It gives you another nice aspect. Well worth a vivit. See more..

Bald Hill Lookout & Hang Gliding Spot image
We had no idea that the hang gliders would be flying on a windy day. In the 2 hours there we saw a dozen get rigged up and leave. It was a great time well spent watching them take off and also learning about Lawrence Hargraves and his box kites leading the way in flight. Congested and crowded on a Sunday there was food and coffee at mobile vans and a kiosk. Toilet facilities and lots of seats. See more..

    - Another lovely Lookout
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts • Parks
    The Skillion image
I had the good fortune to climb up to various Lookouts along the coastline on my two week trip down from Brisbane to Sydney. My friend in Terrigal took me to a couple of them close to where he lives (lucky man). The Skillion provides yet another opportunity to marvel at the majestic Pacific Ocean and look down on Terrigal beach. , What I like about many of the paths and coastal walkways is that while they are sometimes quite steep, there are convenient handrails and steps for the more adventurous parts of the way. And if the day is warm and sunny with plenty of blue sky, there is no better way to spend your time than visiting places such as this. See more..

    Pat Morton Lookout image
Pat Morton lookout gives a splendid, almost 270 degree view of the Pacific Ocean. It was an easy walk from the carpark climbing on well-built stairway to the upper plateau from where the views opened out. The wooden stairway provided quite easy access and the meadow like area on top of the cliff was fantastic for picnics. I was able to see the Skennars beach and Boulders beach on one direction and 7 mile beach on the other beautifully. See more..

  27. 4.0 Junction Park (69 reviews)
    - The Confluence ??!! Sounds boring but you gotta do it !!!
Spent 1-2 hours Lookouts • Parks • Playgrounds
    Junction Park image
Junction Park is the spot where you can go FOR FREE to see the point where Australia's two most legendary rivers The Murray & The Darling meet. It's easy viewing either from ground level at the rivers edge or from the easy to climb observation tower. No need for binoculars as the two river flows are (for want of a better phrase) different colours so you can see the slightly more muddy Darling alongside the Murray. Junction Park is a lovely spot obviously well maintained by the council. Grassy and green plenty of plants and trees, there is seating too. Plenty of parking spots and although I'm not sure if there are designated caravan and camper spots there were some vans parked up when we visited so obviously the parking is easy to manoeuvre a van around. I would highly recommend this simple pleasure. See more..

    Drawing Room Rocks image
We arrived at 8:30 in the morning after days of heavy rain. The drive was not well sign posted and the parking unclear as we were the fist visitors of the day. Basically the entrance is a small path near a private driveway gate and you need to park in small alcoves on the side of the road a little further down the hill. The walk to the top was 30-40 min. It was not raining but the ground was very wet slippery mud and many paths were covered in deep puddles that were tricky to avoid. Leeches were prevalent we had 5 encounters but through some miracle managed to detach them from our shoe before they attached to us. The walk would have been much more pleasant and easier if the previous days had not been so wet. The views were breathtaking and worth the leech scares and puddles. We stayed at the top about 1 hour. They told us the story of Lake Mungo and the lunette from the indigenous point of view. Really interesting and well priced at $130 for a family). Later we also went on the tour with the Mungo Lodge at sunset ($190) which was also interesting and worthwhile. The country is so fragile. See more..

Wow what a stunning view over Wallis Lake and surrounds! A word of caution though the trail into the lookout isn't really 2WD friendly in my view - there are a number of steep rocky climbs, holes and ruts. It was possible in a VW Golf however we wouldn't do it again even in the very dry conditions of the day. Lookouts
    Point Lookout image
Having cooked snags and damper on fire-places at over 5,100ft altitude with firewood kindly provided, we did the usual lookouts before doing the more challenging walk to "Weeping Rock". You don't have to do the full circuit form the upper car-park. Just dump the cars a few hundred metres short of the Point Lookout car-park (sharp left-hand bend on the right) and follow the track and signs. You need to be fit and nimble as you follow the steep track alongside the high cliffs - all of them 'weeping water' before you get to the "Weeping Rock" itself. Our kids drank from the trickling water and balanced along fallen moss-covered trees. Couldn't help but wonder when the next part of the rock-face would come crashing down...! Didn't do the full circuit back to Point lookout but will do next time. Just a stunning part of total wilderness and being safe! See more..

Turn left at big wagon that leads up to Miss Heidis Austrian teahouse and restaurent....A bavarian log cabin type with log fire that feels like something out of a Hanzel and Gretel story. Go past Miss Heidis and you are at the top with a 10 metre walk to lookout and viewing platform. There is a brass compass showing locations and distances on a rock plinth. Toilets and a walking track round Mount Gladstone with another lookout.
