We came here from Melbourne to see a specific band (Soul Chisel) on a Friday night. (Our first visit here). We were pleasantly surprised by the venue setup where they had the main stage for the headline act and a side stage for a support band, so there was continuous music all night. Add to that another stage outside on the deck and you are spoiled for choice! Free entry and very reasonbly priced drinks made it an affordable night. On the Saturday night we got to see Thirsty Merc, again free entry!! If only we lived closer!! This would quite easily become our favourite local hangout!!! Had dinner at the Royal in Cooma on a stopover. Meal was delicious. The salad was the freshest Ive had in a long time and the chips were so crispy and lovely. I had chicken schnitzel and it was moist inside and crisp on the outside. Hubby had the beef and bacon burger and raved about it. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing. Recently spent the weekend in Tumbarumba with friends to ride the rail trail and generally have a relaxing few days. On the Saturday afternoon after the bike ride, we freshened up and went to the Union Hotel for drinks. Local bike riders had recommended it to us. The beers were good value and they they even had Bentspoke beer from Canberra on tap. After an hour or so, we decided to stay there for dinner and found their meals were more like a restaurant than the normal pub food. We were told to book as it is very popular and thank goodness we did. The meals were phenomenal for the price. $15 which included a drink. You can pay extra for toppings which we did and they were fabulous. The meal sizes were generous and the salad fresh and tasty plus of course the chips were yum. Only complaint was I paid $5 extra for side of veg which had been sort of stir fried and overdone, I’d been hoping for steamed veg....overpriced for what you got. Popped in for a quick meal before the theatre (Miners' Lamp Theatre in Corrimal), not expecting much never having been before. The atmosphere was busy but friendly and relaxed. We found a table and ordered, expecting a bit of a wait. The meal was produced promptly, with a smile, as if the server was proud of what he was handing me. And well he might have been. It was the BEST pork belly I have ever had! Crisp on the outside and so tender inside. Not a big serve but you don't want a lot when it's a rich dish like pork belly. After a very long day of travel, I walked the couple of blocks to have dinner, recommended by a colleague. The place was packed, however, my order was quickly taken and meal delivered to my table in about 20 minutes! Popped in on a Thursday night after seeing that it was pork ribs night. We initially had an issue with an item listed on the board outside not being on the menu any more but the lovely lady behind the counter honoured the offer and I got ribs & steak. My wife had ribs and wings and couldn't finish it all. The wings do need to be marinated but were sticky and tasty. The ribs were fall off the bone tasty and also sticky. The steak was cooked perfectly but not a great cut so a little chewy. We'll be back next time we're in town if only for the amazing service.See more..
