    - A beautiful day strolling through the beautiful Sydney Botanical Gardens via the Opera House.

The Opera House to the Botanic Gardens Walk image
We stayed in the city for my birthday celebrations Sat 17th April - the next day we walked from the amazing Opera House through the Botanical Gardens. How beautiful it was on a bright sunny day. The flowers and plants varieties were amazing to look at while we strolled through the garden, taking in the Harbour views including the stage set up of La Traviata. We then went to Government House and signed the Condolence book for the Queen. We stopped in the Botanica Cafe/Restaurant for lunch and drinks and then continued back to our hotel. We spent hours there and it was such a beautiful day. See more..
  2. 5.0 Newcastle Memorial Walk (1.889 reviews)
    - Just do it!
Spent 1-2 hours Scenic Walking Areas
    Newcastle Memorial Walk image
This is a fantastic coastal walk. We had a beautiful summer's day, nice breeze and clear skies, and in these conditions I think it was as spectacular as any other coastal walking trail in the country, with commanding views of the city, the beaches below and the ocean. It is a not a long or demanding walk. It was not the right time of year for whale watching when we visited, but we were told it can be an excellent spot for that activity as well. See more..

    - Nice Nobby walk

    Nobbys Head and Breakwall image
Always a gorgeous walk but especially grand on a sunny day. Caught a ferry later the same day to view it, and the lovely city of Newcastle, from the shipwreck walk (Stockton). The Nobby's walk is flat - making it easily navigable by wheelchair, bike, scooter, pram or foot. See more..
  4. 4.5 Lake Parramatta Reserve (222 reviews)
    - Parramatta Gem
Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Scenic Walking Areas
    Lake Parramatta Reserve image
While staying in Parramatta, I was taken to an unexpected gem in the middle of the city. Expansive hilly grassed areas rolled down to a pictuesque lake. Boats were available for hire the whole lake was surrounded by bush, and there is a walk through this around the lake. It is big enough to take about an hour and it is hilly enough to give one good exercise. Good walking shoes are recommended. The path is easily walked by able bodied people and children. In the picnic area there a good amenities and plenty of shelters to sit at. There is also a cafe, which is operational daily except on Good Friday, which is when I went. See more..
  5. 4.5 Coffs Creek Walk and Cycleway (89 reviews)
    - Best thing to do in Coffs! Walk, run or ride around Coffs Creek, admiring nature, art, and more
Biking Trails • Scenic Walking Areas
Coffs Creek Walk and Cycleway image
The loop around Coffs Creek is 8.5km. You can walk, run, ride a bike or take your dog. If you don't have time for the full loop, just do half (cross over the creek at Hogbin Drive bridge). There is so much to see: fishes and birds, mangroves and forests, koalas (yes! if you are lucky!), local history, and great public art (we love "Traces" at Saltwater Park). There are cafes along the route, and you can take a detour through North Coast Botanic Gardens too. We never get tired of this loop, have done it more times than I can count! 8. 5.0 Coast Walk (52 reviews)
    - Easy to visit using new Shuttle Bus
Spent More than 3 hours Scenic Walking Areas
    Coast Walk image
It was really easy to get to the Royal National Park by using the weekend shuttle bus from Sutherland Train Station. The bus leaves at 8am and 11am from car park at 1-3 East Parade. I paid $15 for a day pass that dropped my off at Bundeena and I walked to Garie in 4 hours. I saw whales, wedding cake rock, eagle rock and Wattamolla Lagoon. The bus ticket includes national park fees and returned me back to Sutherland. The bus is called Park Connections and the drivers were really easy going. Highly recommend the Coast Walk with Park Connections. See more..
  9. 4.5 Berrima River Walk (52 reviews)
    - Enjoyable river walk taking in WW2 history
Spent 1-2 hours Scenic Walking Areas
    Berrima River Walk image
This out and back walk, on relatively level pathways, is 4-5km in total over 1-1.5 hours. Distance and time will depend on how long you spend reading the informative panels, describing sites and aspects of the interned Germans, and if take little diversions along the way and the additional walk to nearby well. Is a very well structured walk. The photos of some of the buildings and activities of life for the interns are most beneficial. Plenty of parking or a short walk from Berrima main street. Well worth visiting and a free activity. See more..

I always enjoy a good view from the top if possible in a place that’s new to me. It gives you a good idea about the size and layout of a city or town. This lookout is just up from the beautiful Japanese Gardens, and you can even take a picnic with you. Children too can enjoy the place with grassy areas and a playground is very close. The view is lovely. See more..

I’d walked south along the beach from the caravan park. At the southern end of the beach I found the boardwalk which then leads to a wide concrete path leading up to the headland lookout. Great walk, not hard but it is uphill. You are rewarded at the top with a magnificent view of Seven Mile Beach and the local surfers riding the southern point break. A great way to spend a morning. We visited here on 1st January in the middle of all the smoke from the fires so a little hard to see everything. Mount Gladstone Lookout image
Travel south/west from Cooma on highway for a few minutes. Turn left at big wagon that leads up to Miss Heidis Austrian teahouse and restaurent....A bavarian log cabin type with log fire that feels like something out of a Hanzel and Gretel story. Go past Miss Heidis and you are at the top with a 10 metre walk to lookout and viewing platform. There is a brass compass showing locations and distances on a rock plinth. Toilets and a walking track round Mount Gladstone with another lookout. Great to break your trip on way to the snow or coming back stop for Gluwein, krantsky, crepes, pancakes, goulash, sauerkraut, cheescakes, coffee, wine and more. Feels like Austria but with an Australian view. See more..

    - An all weather access to the Macquarie Marshes
Monday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Observation Decks & Towers • Educational sites • Scenic Walking Areas
    'Burrima' Boardwalk image
We found it quite challenging to find reliable information on accessing the Macquarie Marshes to view bird life. We found the Windows to the Wetlands centre in Warren to be most helpful. An excellent access point is the Burrima Boardwalk, just off the Warren-Carinda Road, about 130 km north of Warren. We did a day trip from Warren to this site and spent some hours enjoying the beautiful access to the wetland. The time of our visit was not great for birds but we now have a good sense of where to go when we next visit during peak season. The advantage of this boardwalk is that it is mostly accessible even when it has been raining. The $25 per car entry fee is well worth it for what you get. Earlier Trip Advisor posts provide more detail. Highly recommend! See more..

    Newnes Industrial Ruins walk image
We spent a very pleasant couple of hours wandering around the ruins trying to imagine the lives of the people that would have worked here over a hundred years ago; “a tough, wild lifestyle” came to mind. It is a fascinating site covered with old kilns, pipelines, an old railway and many brick relics of a bygone age and industry. The path could be a little better sign-posted and some more information signs would enhance the experience but we still enjoyed our time here. See more..

This walk is hidden away behind the showgrounds, a person at the Tourist Office told us about it but said it was overgrown. 43. 4.0 Kariong Brook Falls (2 reviews)
    - Wonderul days outing on a hilly bush walk!
    Lookouts • Scenic Walking Areas
A train trip from Sydney or Gosford to Wondabyne Station will begin the day's outing. This, in itself, is exciting as one has to ask the train guard to stop the train at this short station platform!! The views from the train along the river bank is picturesque. A strong climb up the steps to the ridge follows. Walking along the firetrail is simple, then off along the Great North Walk through the trees and beside the creeks is appealing, but can be slippery. Slippery in wet, muddy conditions and slippery in dry, leafy conditions. At the foot of the falls was a lovely peaceful place for lunch. Plenty of water should be brought to drink and your own meal and snacks for along the way. Return walk was more strenuous up out of the valley. See more..
