4.5Blue Mountains(1.944 reviews) - Stay 2 nights at least! Mountains
There's at least 2 full days of touring in the Blue Mountains. We came by train (approx 2 hours) from Central and relied on public transport quite easily, though sometimes frustrating to get a taxi as there are very few operators postCOVID. Public buses out to Medlow Bath and down to Leura run hourly which may not suit everyone. There are some excellent little restaurants here both for lunch and dinner time and you don't have to spend a fortune.See more..
Extending over 2,664 square miles, this park contains Australia's highest mountain, Mount Kosciuszko.See more..
4.5Saddleback Mountain Lookout(232 reviews) - Spectacular views in all directions on clear days. Short drive from Kiama Mountains • Lookouts
After a short drive from Kiama you arrive at spectacular view point. But there are a few lookouts so don't stop at the first one alone. Go up the track and find a walk down to the southern lookout ( a short, sloping track with a few steps) and there is also a western lookout - looking back over the valley and mountains. You may see a wombat here if it's quiet. Ensure you don't stay after gates are locked. For adventurers, there is a long, steep walk to barren grounds from Saddleback but ensure you have good maps and navigation & a car shuffle would be handy to avoid return trip. Alternatively walk down from barren Grounds to Saddleback. This track has steep gavel sections so good grip in shoes is required. You see kangaroos, lyrebirds and many other animals and birds on this walk. See more..
Beautiful lookout and an easy road to drive there Amazing views Definitely recommend However ..... experience was slightly ruined by uneducated individuals deciding to release balloons off the lookout at the cost of the wildlife and our environment. Stupid decision and just wrong.See more..
5.0Drawing Room Rocks(65 reviews) - Cannot miss this Spent 2-3 hours Mountains • Lookouts
We arrived at 8:30 in the morning after days of heavy rain. The drive was not well sign posted and the parking unclear as we were the fist visitors of the day. Basically the entrance is a small path near a private driveway gate and you need to park in small alcoves on the side of the road a little further down the hill. The walk to the top was 30-40 min. It was not raining but the ground was very wet slippery mud and many paths were covered in deep puddles that were tricky to avoid. Leeches were prevalent we had 5 encounters but through some miracle managed to detach them from our shoe before they attached to us. The walk would have been much more pleasant and easier if the previous days had not been so wet. The views were breathtaking and worth the leech scares and puddles. We stayed at the top about 1 hour.See more..
4.5Mount Keira(50 reviews) - A must do if you visit Wollongong. Mountains
My wife and I drove up to admire the fabulous vistas and have a cup of coffee - it was lovely to sit in the sun and then walk the trails. It is a pity the Five Islands Lookout is fenced off, but there are still stunning views to he enjoyed. Well recommended - we even had an Echidna wander over to us and pose for photos. Clean toilets and friendly service at the cafe.See more..
A steep climb but rewarded by beautiful views. A bit nervous going through field of cows but we're English and should be used to it! Path not brilliantly marked but is pretty obvious. Can imagine it gets quite scary as it goes further along the ridge. See more..
I would recommend you to go during Autumn. $10 entrance fee. Make sure you bring cash and some biscuit or water as in Mount Wilson - there is no cafe. The autumn is beautiful- each corner are beautiful - the lake, the all golden, red and orange leaves trees, the clouds go with the autumn colors Totally picturesque Must go See more..
A must do along the New England Highway. A really interesting (where else can you see a burning mountain) walk, we saw kangaroos and lots of bird life, the walk is a little up hill but very easy. You can free camp in the car park, there are tables, fire places and toilets (which were pretty clean when we were there). Look for the signs as it could be easy to drive past. It is 23Km north of Scone.See more..
4.0Mount Oxley(15 reviews) - View shows the vastness of outback NSW Mountains
After obtaining a permit, which included a code for the gate, from the visitor’s centre for $9 each we drove about 25kms east of Bourke on tarred road then drove about 20 kms on gravel road to the top of Mt Oxley. We were in a sedan and it was a bit rough but fine. There are Telstra towers on top but the lookout is on a road off this road which takes you to a picnic area with toilets. The view is an amazing 360 degree vista. We were there for sunset which was beautiful but the view alone is worth the trip. Kangaroos add to the experience.See more..

4.5Tapin Tops National Park(6 reviews) - Forest adventure and great picnic spot. Mountains • National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
If you are exploring the Mid North Coast hinterland don't miss Tapin Tops National Park. There are some great places to stay in Elands on AirB&B or you can camp at Dingo Tops. It is a spectacular part of the Eastern Ranges in the mountains northwest of Wingham. Rowleys Rock lookout has panoramic views all the way to the ocean. There are walks through subtropical rainforest and old growth eucalyptus forest. Abundant wildlife and rich diversity of plants. An easy walk to Potaroo Falls allows you to scramble over rocks to a beautiful swimming waterhole. The best place to stay is Dingo Tops campground or a B&B in Elands if you're exploring the park for more than a day-trip.See more..
5.0Martins Lookout(1 review) - Views Mountains • National Parks • Hiking Trails Great short walk or slightly longer if you start from Batman Park. Once you hit the National Park sign, you can’t take your dog. Easy walk through nice bush and tiny spring flowers. Nice little climb up to the rocky outcrop with a great view. Take note of the plaque for the gentleman who lead many treks around this area. It points to a white cross on the opposite side of the chasm - just visible.. this track also goes further on , to join other trailsSee more..
