Behind the stone façade of the restored former Bond Store, the Albert Kersten Mining & Minerals Museum (GeoCentre) tells the story of how the world’s largest deposit of silver, lead and zinc was formed in Broken Hill. It also displays a famous collection of Broken Hill minerals and the ‘Silver Tree’ – the intricate silver sculpture once owned by Charles Rasp, the boundary rider who pegged out the first Broken Hill mining lease with his partners. 3. 4.5 'Burrima' Boardwalk (14 reviews)
    - An all weather access to the Macquarie Marshes
Monday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Observation Decks & Towers • Educational sites • Scenic Walking Areas
    'Burrima' Boardwalk image
We found it quite challenging to find reliable information on accessing the Macquarie Marshes to view bird life. We found the Windows to the Wetlands centre in Warren to be most helpful. An excellent access point is the Burrima Boardwalk, just off the Warren-Carinda Road, about 130 km north of Warren. We did a day trip from Warren to this site and spent some hours enjoying the beautiful access to the wetland. The time of our visit was not great for birds but we now have a good sense of where to go when we next visit during peak season. The advantage of this boardwalk is that it is mostly accessible even when it has been raining. The $25 per car entry fee is well worth it for what you get. Earlier Trip Advisor posts provide more detail. Highly recommend! See more..

    Early Settlers' Hut image
This building is believed to be one of the earliest dwellings in the region from the European settlement of Australia. Originally erected by the first squatter in the mid 1840's , it was enlarged over the following years to its present floor plan. The hut is of solid timber slab , mainly stringy bark & cedar, with a shingle roof. The roof is in remarkable condition owing to many years being preserved under corrugated iron sheets but returned to its originality during restoration for the Bicentennial celebrations. The original kitchen, bread oven, meat lockers & various artifacts are all on display. Entry is free, just close the doors after your visit. A great early example of how our forefathers worked & lived and well worth a look see! See more..

We don't normally visit museums because we have seen so many of them but we found this quite interesting. There is a lot of information here about the gaol systems at the time and the museum holds lots of interesting items. See more..
