  1. 4.5 Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard (1.283 reviews)
    - Audrey Wilkinson Wine…. Going to a whole next level in the Hunter Valley
    Wineries & Vineyards
    Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard image
Set on the crest of a hill, the cellar door has 360-degree views of the picturesque patchwork of vines and paddocks of the Hunter Valley. The sandstone and timber building tips its hat to the history of the vineyard. The Wilkinson's were true pioneers of the Australian winemaking industry. Despite two earlier ventures in Australia, the Wilkinson family returned after the brothers Frederick and John had studied winemaking in France and Germany. In 1866 the family acquired the present site of the Audrey Wilkinson vineyard. Living in tents, they cleared the land and planted vines which were sourced from the MacArthur Onslow property. By the early 1900s, Audrey Wilkinson collected awards around Australia for his Hock, claret and fortified wines. Large quantities were exported to London. Audrey committed to leading edge technology which, at the end of the 19th century, included open cement fermenters and steam powered crushers and hoppers. It was here the Audrey Wilkinson legacy was born. See more..

My daughter recommend we attend this winery and was so glad we did. There was such a large selection of wines on offer it was difficult to decide which one's to sample. We were fortunate enough to have one of the wine makers as our waiter and he certainly knew his stuff. He made each and every wine sound like a delicious 3 course meal with his explanation as to what has gone into each individual wine that we tasted. This is a must visit winery when in the Mudgee region. See more..

What a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon, especially after lockdown. From the warm welcome by Rachel, the knowledgeable service of the 7 wines for tasting, with a tasty cheese platter, to the purchasing of the wines from owner Emma, the whole experience is amazing. The view is incredible, you can bring your dog (George and Angus the resident dogs may say hello to your dog), the ambience and service is wonderful. And the main event - the wines - are so worth the drive into the Megalong Valley. The Chardonnay and Shiraz are our favourites and we are excited to try their different styles, like the Barbera and Tempranillo. Highly recommend making a booking! See more..
