  2. 4.0 Hunter Valley Gardens (2.412 reviews)
    - $110 for a family of four is a bit steep
    Monday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Gardens
    Hunter Valley Gardens image
We went to see the lights last night and rides last night!!! . Though at the entry price of $110 for a family of four was a rather disappointing especially when you had to fork out another $30 for the rides on top of that!!!!? The gardens itself was lovely and the fairy-tale lights were fun, but at the price not really worth it sorry. You can go to the botanical gardens on Sydney harbour and it won’t cost you a cent and that’s throwing in the harbour bridge, the opera house and Sydney city and harbour views, and it won’t cost you a cent Sadly Won’t be returning to these gardens See more..

Tranquil. It's the perfect word to describe Cowra's Japanese Garden. You can't help but feel completely at peace when you walk through the lush gardens and cascading streams which represent the landscapes of Japan: where the hill is a mountain, streams are the rivers and the ponds inland lakes and the sea. Is this the most serene place in NSW? Spend some time walking around the equisitely manicured Kaiyushiki (strolling) garden, designed by Ken Nakajima and opened in 1979, and you be the judge. Apart from the fantastic range of trees (elms, cedars, pines etc), shrubs, plants and flowers there is a bandstand, a duck pond/lake with its very own "Nessie" and a bridge over it, some fountains, an aviary, a fernery, some WWII artillery pieces, a children's playground and what we considered to be the piece de resistance, the conservatory filled with the most beautiful display of Begonias. These gardens are located about a two minute walk away from the main street through Bowral and cover the area between Wingecarribee, Merrigang and Bendooley Streets. Entry is free and there is also lots of free parking in the above streets. We visited in late September and were lucky to see masses of different coloured tulips together with a range of annuals e.g. petunias etc together with blossom trees. The gardens were quite beautiful even though several of the garden beds appeared to be under renovation and the water features and canals were devoid of water. The gardens are also very well maintained with lots of paths, grassed areas and large trees that provide shade. There were also plenty of benches where you could sit down, relax and take in the sights. Well worth a visit. See more..

    Orange Botanic Gardens image
Eat Botanic Cafe - A definite must visit. We were two travellers who popped in midweek right after closing time, hoping for a bite to eat and something to drink. We were treated with such kindness and beautiful hospitality .The service is gold standard and genuine with friendly and engaging conversation and at the same time the attention to detail. Thank you Claudia. The food is absolutely amazing. Seriously, they brought out the juicer to make us divine fresh juices with super fresh ingredients and we had Chicken Waldorf sandwiches that were some of the best I have ever eaten ( and I've eaten a few in my time). Dad's sausage rolls with that tomato sauce would easily win awards at any show. Cannot rate this place highly enough. Is there a sixth star? We will definitely be back time after time and I hope you make it a stop off too. See more..

    Tulip Top Gardens image
Have visited both Floriade and this garden in the last week. The Tulip Top Farm has a far superior display in my view. There are more varieties and they are better displayed. One gets the impression of more space and less commercial intrusion. Many of the Floriade displays seemed tired whereas these gardens were more vibrant and the blooms were in better condition. In short they are doing a lot of things right, a very enjoyable visit. See more..

    Mrs York's Garden image
I had parked my car near Goal Point and had walked along the break wall before coming back up the hill from the town centre when I came across Mrs York’s Garden. This is was a garden first established on the headland by Mrs York in the late 1960’s. It has been reestablished by volunteers. The walk is just lovely winding it’s way down the headland and then back up to Goal Point. There is a little man-made waterfall and volunteers have planted heaps of littoral rainforest species and coastal headland species. What is really nice is that the trees have been labeled. I will need to come back for another walk in years to come to see how this area grows and develops back into a dense, lush area. See more..

we wandered into this little gem and hidden secret garden in Mt. Wilson and ended up spending more than 2 hours there. It's about 12 acres and have pockets of interesting areas with lots of beautiful gardens, fountains and sculptures. The mother and daughters sculptures in the Cherry Garden was beautiful, and I used a pic of it for my Mother's Day card this year. There is a huge Sequoia tree just adjacent to the owner's house and we went inside the tree to appreciate the magnificent nature. We took a lot of photos of the varying Autumn colors from the trees and fallen leaves. It charged $10/adult (well worth every cent of it), and the owners were so kind to offer us tea and biscuits and we ended up having a very nice chat with them. Sam, the son of the owners family was very kind and knowledgeable about the garden and showed us around. All in all, a lovely afternoon visit for us. See more..

    Illawarra Rhododendron Garden image
The Illawarra Rhododendron Gardens are located below and within the magnificent Illawarra Escarpment in Parrish Ave, Mt Pleasant. The lower garden features a large lake, pavilions, and a large unique collection of rhododendrons, vireyas, camellias and many different companion plants in a setting of exotic and native trees. Spectacular locations for an outdoor birthday celebration and weddings. Seasonal variations and clever planting choices means that even outside peak flowering in Spring there is always something colourful to see. The upper rainforest area (behind the deer fence) houses huge figs, red cedars, native orchids and other significant rainforest vegetation only found on the Illawarra Escarpment. A haven for all types of wildlife, diverse bird life, frogs, water dragons, and echidnas are just a few of the regular visitors to the gardens. The gardens are a not for profit organization and are operated and maintained by a small group of volunteers. See more..

    Merry Garth Garden image
A truly beautiful cold climate garden full of inspiring ideas. Lots of different lovely garden pathways to keep one wandering what is ahead. Have visited during Mt Wilson Autumn Festival and lovely to see all the Japanese maples in glorious colour and again in late Winter to see all the hellebores and Glanthus snowdrops in bloom, beautiful distant views of the escarpment. Entry to garden $5.00 adult, kids free is well worth the admission, the plant nursery in the front garden is free and has lots of rare plants as seen in the, gardens for purchase. Plants are well priced for those hard to get plants not usually available from 'everyday' or the warehouse type nurseries. Libby and Keith are a mind field of knowledge. Libby also does beautiful botanical drawings when are reproduced in gift cards for, purchase. Make sure you visit when in Mt Wilson. See more..
