    Tamworth Marsupial Park image
The Marsupial Park is a native animal experience unlike any other in NSW, the 14-hectare park has free entry. Children can get close to kangaroos, wallabies, cockatoos and emus, spot the species in the free-flight aviary and hand feed the Indian peacocks. Within the Marsupial Park is the community-built Adventure Playground which has two distinct areas: one for under-5s and another for over-5s. It encourages children to use their fine and gross motor-skills – and of course, their imagination. There are barbecue facilities and bathrooms. See more..
  4. 5.0 Tamworth Regional Playground (158 reviews)
    - This is the largest and best free children's park that I have ever seen. What happened to the common old slippery dip?
Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 2-3 hours Playgrounds
    Tamworth Regional Playground image
This huge children's playground is located at the southern end of Bicentennial Park. It appeared to be split into two main areas, one for older children and the other for younger children. Among the equipment that we saw for younger children was a splash pool, bike education track, sand pit areas and the usual slides and swings etc. For the older children there was a huge skywalk with slides that were, according to the signage, over 13 metres, zip lines/flying foxes, rope climbing, a tightrope bridge plus various unusual swings and much more. Absolutely fantastic playground. There was also a cafe and bar. We only wished that we had our grandchildren with us but then we may not have seen much else of Tamworth. See more..

  7. 4.0 Junction Park (69 reviews)
    - The Confluence ??!! Sounds boring but you gotta do it !!!
Spent 1-2 hours Lookouts • Parks • Playgrounds
    Junction Park image
Junction Park is the spot where you can go FOR FREE to see the point where Australia's two most legendary rivers The Murray & The Darling meet. It's easy viewing either from ground level at the rivers edge or from the easy to climb observation tower. No need for binoculars as the two river flows are (for want of a better phrase) different colours so you can see the slightly more muddy Darling alongside the Murray. Junction Park is a lovely spot obviously well maintained by the council. Grassy and green plenty of plants and trees, there is seating too. Plenty of parking spots and although I'm not sure if there are designated caravan and camper spots there were some vans parked up when we visited so obviously the parking is easy to manoeuvre a van around. I would highly recommend this simple pleasure. See more..

We turned up to meet the rest of the family to let the family toddlers run & play at the adventure park. Was glad to see that our toddlers had their hats on & every so often they would try to run back to their bags & have a drink. It was good to see that there where was a big & small area for all the children’s ages, but ours thankfully liked the small castle with a bright blue slippery dip & all the types of swings. Of course, our toddlers loved going up to the fence & touching the big pictures of the animals. Glad to say there was shade for the older generation to sit down & take photos. It’s a nice& sometimes noisy with all the different aged toddlers to big children running around with excitement. See more..

This was really busy when I arrived, considering we were off the back of Covid... but it was school holidays. There were people wandering around enjoying the green space, others at tables having picnics, many had stopped to use the toilets, others stood next to their cars eating, children played in the nearby playground. It's actually nice to see life returning to normal for many. The area has points of interest... memorials and yarning circles...it's an incredible space on the side of Castlereagh River. Outside the children can enjoy a run around in the jurassic water park area to cool down, a jump on ur jumping pillow or a skate on our scooters! The only disconcerting thing is it feels like you are driving into a caravan park... so it feels like you are entering an area you should not be in. - Great playground for kids
    Friday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Parks • Playgrounds
This brand new park is a great mix between a water-based playground and a normal playground. On a hot day, the water park is a godsend, keeping the kids cool. Unfortunately, the design of the playground means that most of the non-water playground is exposed to the sun and gets overly hot - for example, the slides are really hot, too hot for little kids. Also, some parts of the ground get really hot (if the kids are playing barefoot in the wet area and step onto the hot area, it can hurt). On a cooler day, the rest of the playground comes into its own, with really tall ropes for climbing, great for adventurous kids and big slides down! Change facilities are excellent. Hopefully, council will add some more shade and add more features to the water park. Maybe even a little barbecue area to make use of the picnic tables. But at the moment, this is a little secret, known only to the locals and a few curious visitors like us! See more..

On a road trip at the end of September/start of October... I drove into the sleepy town of Wallendbeen. It has a current population of about 300 people so you can't be expecting a lot to be happening. Most people who would stop here would be to use the public restrooms near the main road, but curiosity got the better of me so I drove in to look around. The town's name is derived from the aboriginal word that translates to 'Stony Hill'. This small playground has a playground and multi purpose court- some of the playground is shaded, others is not.
