Hidden Gem at West Haven

Fabulous walking trail and public reserve along the lake, access via St Albans Way. Well maintained park with some lovely lawn areas, great place for a picnic or a bit of exercise. Keep it clean/tidy and the locals will welcome you.

A pleasant walk around the lake foreshore
You can start the walk at either end. We started at Henry Kendall Drive and walked as far as the sailing club and back again - approx. 6.5 kms return. It was a lovely walk through eucalypt forest, past mangroves and along timber boardwalks through paperbark groves. Along the way you get to view Queens Lake. It's quite a lovely walk. It's a sign-posted local council walking trail at the back of many houses and it's clearly marked. All dogs must be on a lead when walking with their owners. You can join the track at numerous spots along the way. There are picnic tables at the sailing club which overlook the lake - it's a lovely spot for a picnic even if you don't like walking. I'll be back again.

    Track in need of repair
We have lived in the area for just over 2 year and used to enjoy the walk around the lake, a beautiful walk and a great tourist attraction but since the floods in March 2021 it had become very difficult. The walkboards were washed out and destroyed between Lakewood and the sailing club. we have contacted the council but seems they have no intention of fixing it any time soon and they have recently closed that part of the track
