My wife and I with our 11 year old son visited the CWHM in July 2022, whilst on holiday from the UK. We spent 5 hours at the museum mainly due to how all volunteers made us feel so welcome and interested. There is plenty to see inside and outside and there is a great viewing area with views over the whole airport. We especially liked the fact that our son could sit inside many of the aircraft and use the SIM. We ate in the cafe which was excellent. We cannot thank the staff and volunteers enough for a really brilliant visit. Thoroughly recommended. See more..

We took our two year old here after driving past from a family trip and seeing signs for it a few weeks prior. It will not disappoint! Our Daughter loved it and asked to go back again the next day. Some of the dinosaurs do look a little funny but i feel that this is part of the charm! We managed to spend two hours here, and our daughter would have been happy to have spent much much longer as when we had finished she asked to go round again. We met the guy who owned it and he seemed really nice and genuine. The only negative thing i have to say is i wish people would respect the dinosaurs and not let their kids climb on them. obviously these people have worked hard to make them and having bad behaved kids breaking them must be really annoying. $10 per adult See more..

Battlefield House Museum & Park image
One of the first houses to be built in Stoney Creek, Battlefield House was the home of the Gage family from 1796 until 1835. During these settlement years of the early 19th century, James and Mary Gage cleared and worked the land with their ten children and became well-known for their warm hospitality. The War of 1812 had a direct impact on the Gage family as they found themselves confined to their home when American soldiers occupied their land when a battle broke out during the early morning hours of June 6, 1813. The resulting British victory at the Battle of Stoney Creek was crucial in helping to prevent the Americans from seizing Upper Canada. Less than one hundred years later, in 1899, Sara Calder, grand-daughter of James and Mary Gage and first president of the Women's Wentworth Historical Society, led the purchase and preservation of the homestead. Further recognition of the significant event that took place on this property came in the year 1913, when the 100-foot tall Battlefield Monument was opened, standing as a symbol of peace and commemorating those soldiers who died at the Battle of Stoney Creek. A great museum with free entry when visiting Port Dover. Also free parking right next door. Lots of exhibits and information regarding the history of fishing in Lake Eerie and how that created Port Dover and effected the lives of those that lived here. Even found information about fishermen from next door village to our own in Scotland who moved across there! Really good for kids and adults - plenty to see and interact with. See more..

A great 'stepping back in time' museum. Trains, along with ships, was how Ontario and Canada became accessible to everyone. The museum has been closed for several years because of Covid, but I'm sure that it will work up a full head of steam in short order. There's also two cabooses (cabeese ?) that are available for sleep-overs. See more..

I was fortunate enough to have a guided tour from Grant Maltman, the museum curator. This was one of the most inspiring places I have ever visited. Recommended for anyone who has a personal connection with Diabetes or who has benefited from Dr. Banting's work. The most moving part of the tour - the small bedroom where the idea for insulin was conceived at 2 a.m. one late-October morning in 1920. See more..

We ate twice at the restaurant, would have loved to go to the cinema, but just did not fit our schedule. We had fantastic experiences and food both times. The staff were really friendly, accommodating and efficient. We were lucky to get a table both times, would recommend booking. We had pretty much all the ‘tapas’ menu between us over the two nights, and would find it hard to choose between them, but would recommend the vegetable fajitas, salmon and artichoke, tatties bravas and the squid. The pizzas were really good too. Would highly recommend this as a family friendly restaurant. Thank you to all the staff! See more..
