You'll need to pay a small fee to park, but you'll also have access to the Niagara Botanical Gardens from this parking lot, which is free to visit. - Genuine Nature experience minutes from the Falls

    Niagara Glen Nature Areas image
I was AMAZED by this place! Not much new ever happens at Niagara having visited over many years, but had not seen this before. Wow. Beautiful hiking trails right down to the rivers edge, multiple routes (suggest getting a paper map or downloading, there are a lot of interconnected trails.) Took some friends from Sweden here, they loved the hiking and access to the water, it helped that we had a gorgeous fall day, and entry was FREE! Not crowded, lots of nature and away from the tourist hustle(s). A couple notes, some of the trails a bit rugged, with elevation change of maybe 60 metres, might be a tough walk in flip flops or quite slippery if raining. My wife has replacement knees, so stayed at the top, but also enjoyed a couple walking trails and wildlife photography. I would suggest 1-2 hours. See more..

Really nice hikes in Arrowhead park. It was quite busy for end of October and some of the trails were very muddy (wear good hiking boots!) but we enjoyed ourselves. We did the Arrowhead lake trail (5km), the Stubbs Falls trail (1,5 in and out trail, one side is closed) and the Lookout trail (3km). We came for the Beaver trail, but it was closed due to flooding. I travel across the city just to walk in this park because it's so peaceful, even with the odd biker and other people. Your walk, from the Guy Lombardo museum and heading south, takes you right along the riverside, so a very relaxing view with geese, ducks and other birds here and there, and benches along the way for a rest. I love it. See more..
  10. 4.0 Elora Gorge Conservation Area (439 reviews)
    - Elora Gorge, a nice afternoon outing away from the crowds
Saturday: 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Elora Gorge Conservation Area image
the perfect cure for COVID - the gorge is a nice easy drive from the St Jacob's farmer's market if you want to make a day's outing from it. Madelaine at the front gate was very happy to see us, we picked an overcast day so that we were not swamped by anyone and everyone, and as a result, we had the place pretty much to ourselves. It was nice to see the gorge, walk the trails, smell fresh air and hear birds, not people. There is currently no day camping there, but you can definitely picnic and enjoy a small gathering with your favourite 10 people!! Although it was officially closed for tubing in the river, that didn't stop the die-hards. And for those who like raspberries/blackberries, they are ripe for the picking. See more..

Even though the trail markers confused me it was hard to get lost on these pathways. Some areas can handle wheel chairs. Some areas require a bit of rock scramble. Beautiful variety of trees in these Halton Hills. Plenty of parking, gate security and reservations restrict numbers so it is so very peaceful. See more..

Stopped here on a whim to check it out for future family visits. The farm is meticulous with whimsical signage and playful information about the animals there. Lynde Shores Conservation Area image
Ran thru this place the other day, it is located on Bloor Street in Whitby near the Ajax border. It's a pay and display location, and not dog friendly. Before social distancing it was great for picnics, nature walks, etc, if you had small children this was the place to take them. Now with COVID-19 the latrines are closed, the parking lot is packed, and there are much too many folks there. There is a pokemon gym at the entrance, and no Wi-Fi. See more..

  19. 4.5 Lemoine Point Conservation Area (232 reviews)
    - Nice place but walkers should be more responsible
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Lemoine Point Conservation Area image
Wonderful park. Sadly there are many walking groups who find it necessary to walk 3 or 4 abreast which makes it difficult to observe social distance requirements of 2m when crossing their path. It does not take much consideration to realize that single file would be suitable when one sees oncoming people approaching. See more..
  20. 4.5 Tiffany Falls Conservation Area (220 reviews)
    - My favorite

    Tiffany Falls Conservation Area image
Tiffany Falls is my favorite. Parking is a nightmare. $5 like everywhere else but the lot is very small. The bylaw officer was handing out tickets to everyone not parked in an actual spot. We had to wait 10ish minutes for one to open up. The path leading to the falls is 5-10mins and fairly easy. Ricks and bridges but very pretty. It's hard to social distance so we kept stopping for others coming out. The trail takes you to the bottom of the waterfall. See more..
  21. 4.0 Rockwood Conservation Area (217 reviews)
    - Day of Kayaking and Hiking
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Rockwood Conservation Area image
My husband and I came here for a day of kayaking and hiking. I saw that some people were complaining that they couldn’t get in but we came right when they opened and had no issues. First we went kayaking and it was really beautiful. I definitely would go again. Next before we left we hiked the trails. They were also really nice and well kept. My only negative about the park was the garbage. Obviously I can’t blame the park for this because obviously humans know better than to throw their garbage everywhere. Just really makes me sad to see this at a place so beautiful. Regardless, I would definitely recommend going. See more..

    Duchesnay Falls Trails image
We always saw lots of cars on the side of Hwy 17 and finally had a chance to see what it was all about. We were not disappointed. The trails are clear and easy to hike. So glad we explored beyond the first falls we saw. The is so much MORE further up the trail. Be sure to hike at least as far as the iron bridge so you see both sides of the river as it branches and offers many larger falls of power rushing water as well as tree lined sections of babbling brooks. We will be sure to return in the fall!! See more..

    Macgregor Point Provincial Park image
McGregor Point is a beautiful, shady and comfortable park on the shores of Lake Huron. We had a tent, and a private campsite in the tent area, as we did not need electricity. We went to the Park Store for delicious ice cream, and we went to the Nature Centre where we walked out on the boardwalk to see the sunset. Swimming was better in Port Elgin, as there is a nice sandy beach there with all the amenities of chairs, showers and change areas. We had a wonderful experience in McGregor Park See more..
  24. 4.5 Fathom Five National Marine Park (184 reviews)
    - Both Flowerpot Island and the Visitors Centre are Worthwhile

Fathom Five National Marine Park image
We visited both Flowerpot Island via a Bruce Anchor Cruise, and the the Fathom Five Visitors Centre (which is included with your park pass). Both are well worth visiting. On Flowerpot Island we had up close glimpses of both Flowerpots and the Cave. We also saw the lighthouse and other islands from our boat (along with a couple of shipwrecks). Then at the Visitors Centre, we thoroughly enjoyed walking through the gallery of exhibits about Fathom Five, Bruce Peninsula and Tobermory. Then we climbed the steps to the top of the Lookout Tower for a great view of the bay and the Peninsula. If you are planning to only take the shipwreck tour think again and make sure a stop on Flowerpot Island in the Fathom Five National Park is included! See more..

  27. 4.5 Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat (163 reviews)
    - Amazing!
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat image
There is no other place in the world like the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat. It offers the most space in the world for polar bears in human care, all while providing unique research opportunities for polar bear specialists. The Habitat is currently home to Ganuk, Henry and Inukshuk, who could not survive without human help. These three bears have 24 acres of pristine, subarctic and boreal terrain to roam, including a 10-acre lake. The best time to see the bears is usually in the mornings when they are at their most active. Since the bears have as much control over their environment as possible, they choose when and where to eat, swim, sleep, or explore. You may have to be patient to get the best views, but they’re worth it. The Habitat offers daily talks with Animal Care Staff to provide guests a chance to speak one-on-one with the people who take care of the bears. While you-re on-campus, check out the Heritage Village (seasonal), the Snowmobile Museum, and the Gift Shop. See more..

    - Disappointing Visit
    Saturday: 8:30 AM - 9:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks
    Kelso Conservation Area image
Timed ticket has to be purchased before hand. It only cost $8.48 including tax for seniors. I took the Turkey Shoot Trail at the Kelso Summit at 5301 Steeles Avenue West, and got all the way to the end of Kelso Quarry in about 30 minutes. Nothing particularly exciting, and I could not see the full view of the quarry properly because of a fence. I then drove to 5234 Kelso Road, and managed to see the beach at the Kelso Lake, the ski hill, the Kelso Summit, and the Halton Region Heritage Services ground with a little pond. Again, not very exciting. Overall a disappointment for me. See more..

    Heber Down Conservation Area image
Beautiful place. Has great trails. It's almost magical in the winter, the way the sun shines through the trees in the late afternoon. Although it's not quite as remote as it once was, the campground is long since gone and will someday in the not too distant future be completely surrounded by the urban sprawl. As a result It's getting harder to find the personal serenity there. Enjoy it while you still can. Also keep an eye out for coyotes, although they have never shown to be aggressive, they are there and I can personally attest to seeing them in the area on more than one occasion, including on my last visit. Guelph Lake Conservation Area image
On the weekend the weather was abnormally warm and sunny so we were desperate to squeeze in one last paddle in our canoe before the winter weather started. We decided to try this conservation area as it had a fair-sized lake. Although the water level was very low we were able to enjoy a two-hour leisurely paddle. We saw large fish leaping in the air and several fishers trying to catch them. We also heard and saw a lot of Canada Geese: the water looked rather murky, and we thought it was probably loaded with geese droppings. It made us wonder what it would be like in the summer; I would certainly be hesitant to swim in it! See more..

    Point Farms Provincial Park image
Decent sized sites with decent privacy, though some are better than others. We had a non electrical camp site in the colborne site. Gets a little busy with younger folks on the weekend but nothing outlandish, Don’t forget a ground tarp, as the sites can be gravelly. The beach is lovely. Walk past the parking lot for a bit more room as the beach area closer to the parking lot has eroded. Sunsets are amazing. Hiking trails are not listed in km, but rather minutes. Keep in mind those are to be doubled if walking with kids. Parts of the hiking trail are Quite sunny. Washrooms are decently cleaned for a campground. However, expect a wait in the mornings because there is a limit on the amount of people allowed in. (Covid) And some people were doing hair and makeup inside the washroom ‍♀️Bring a mask to wear inside the washrooms per request. All in all we had a lovely time. See more..

Worth passing by the Conservation Area for the drive alone! Being on top of Mount Nemo as a fellow Ontarian adds a smidge of perspective to the busy life close to the lake. Drove to Belfountain from Toronto. It was a Saturday, and since both my friend and I are new drivers, we avoided highways and got there via Mississauga rd in just 45 minutes. We loved it. Road there is peaceful, almost empty, and after passing Brampton, you'll see tons of beautiful farms and tall trees. The conservation area itself has some great hiking paths to explore and lovely picnic spots by the River, which is well worth the 5$/head entrance fee. We also accidentally discovered a great scenic path to drive, just beyond the conservation park (continuing on Forks of the Credit Rd) which is a must-do. Great spot for a quick 1 day roadtrip, picnic and hiking! See more..

I’m from the area and been camping for 45 years and only found this hidden gem this year. This a nice quiet full hook up campground with large spacious sites. It is clean and big rig friendly. There aren’t many amenities except a community fire pit, the beach, and a fishing pond, but there are great areas for walking/hiking including the marina. The beach is crazy busy as there is also a public day use of the beach for a fee so arrive early and find a spot. Overall this is a great spot for a weekend getaway. See more..

Stayed here for 3 nights during the last wknd of the season for 2022, weather was beautiful ( though chilly at night ) and the foliage was spectacular along the river which made for a beautiful hike. Our site was a decent size and clean when we arrived, and the place was nice and quiet as well for the entire weekend, nice thing about the Chutes is it does not get ridiculously packed out like the parks a little more southeast do and I doubt most of the people who travel the hwy 17 corridor even know its there. My hubby and I spent half a day hiking a few of the trails offered in the park, including the purple and yellow (moderately easy) and the longer, more rugged and difficult blue trail which is just over half a kilometer long with lots of steep but do-able hills and valleys. Not suitable for someone who does not ambulate well. The lookout where the purple and yellow trails converge overlooks a vista of the city below and at this time of year was beautiful with the changing fall colours. The informative posts located throughout the park and along the trails were interesting with facts about the history of the area, the native influence, the lumber industry, its native birds, etc. There are outdoor toilets on site and free parking. Huron Natural Area image
This place has become my daily Trek for Jogging and cycling. It's located in Huron Kitchener. There are total of 6 different trek routes covering total of around 7 Km. There is small Lake or water body as well. I personally like GREEN and RED Trek. It has multiple Entrances but two of it's are major, One is the main entrance and second is from the Parkvale Drive near Huron Road. Must visit place in Kitchener. See more..

A bit of a walk, but worth the view. Part way down the path, it splits into 2 paths. The path to the right with the orangish-red flags is the easiest of the 2 paths. The path to the left is overgrown with weeds and bushes. The path to the right takes you out to the beach. Walk along the beach for 10-15 minutes and you will reach the end point of Pelee Island. A beautiful view. See more..

Best park in London! With the Ontario Parks annual pass in hand (or hanging on the rearview mirror :) we visit this park probably once a month. It has a few easy trails, runs along the river and features a few really nice spots to go down to the river bank. The park is enjoyable in every season, but be aware of the trails getting quite muddy and slippery in the spring months. Excellent spot to watch birds and, if you are lucky, spot a deer or two. On occasion, people on bikes use the trail so make sure to share it respectfully. See more..

I visited Laurel Creek Conservation area on June 13, 2021 for a family picnic. We had BBQ and we had lots of fun. It is a family oriented park, the facilities are clean, the staff are very friendly, the beach is clean, and we had no complain. There are many areas suitable for day use and for family picnics. I highly recommend this park. See more..

We visited Valens beach and had a great day. The sand was very well-groomed and soft. The water was clear but too cold to go in very far. We were lucky to watch a "free airshow" while we ate our picnic lunch... There was a pilot doing aerial acrobatics high above and it was a lot of fun to watch. We'll return to Valens regularly, it was a great experience and included with our Conservation Pass. See more..

What a find! After hiking the insanely busy Cup and Saucer Trail. This park was all that you could wish for a short trail. We took the circular yellow trail, approx 7 KMS in total. The interior walk was beautiful woodland, moss and soft ground criss crossing alvar rock formations which ended on a wild windswept shoreline with a gazebo. The return hike took in shoreline and was more travelled, with evidence of its ice age rock formations. Note, only bathrooms on that trail (at least) are at Visitor Centre. See more..
