    - Kids really enjoy

    Niagara's Fury image
We stayed at the Embassy Suites which was a quick inclined railway down ($3) to the Welcome Center where this is based. We did the "journey Behind the Falls" 1st & this was right there. We waited 30 min. to get in (just missed the previous group), then advanced to see a short film on the history of the falls, then into a round room to see a 360 degree show on the falls. You stay dry in the middle. Kids really like it. As adults, so-so. Show isn't long. Wished the pre-bought vouchers didn't need me to wait on line to get tickets. See more..

Fort George National Historic Site of Canada image
it was a rainy day in May 2022 when we visited, carrying umbrellas. It is clear that the site management and animators enjoyed their work and intended to provide a fulfilling experience. Our son was happy to watch the black powder drill (twice!). We explored the entire fort in about 2-3 hrs, if I recall correctly, reading the sign boards and talking with the animators. Good discussion in the kitchen, and rolling the powder cartridge papers; the rifleman answered all questions and the officer spoke knowledgeably about the battle history. All of the animators, actually, were happy to chat and answer, regardless that they were normally standing in the rain, kudos! (I think it was May 22/22, but will edit as necessary...) See more..

    - Great Park!

    Kingston Waterfront image
We were part of a bus tour that stayed in the Holiday inn next to the park. We also enjoyed a cruise on the Island Queen and there is a large marina next to the park. The park has plenty of benches and shady trees which is a relief from the heat. There is a large pool with water display. The park has a locomotive from the past. There is a tourist information center located in the former train station, under the station there is a washroom. Visited the information center where you can find out about tourist attractions in Kingston and there is a small gift shop where I purchased t-shirts. Great park and a nice place to relax and watch the small boats. See more..

    Queen Victoria Park image
I walked through Queen Victoria Park in May 2022. After crossing the Rainbow Bridge from the US side, I walked down near the river through Queen Victoria Park. First are the views of American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. Then you can continue all the way to Table Rock Welcome Centre where you can view Horseshoe Falls. The walk from Rainbow Bridge to the Table Rock Welcome Centre via Queen Victoria Park is very enjoyable. See more..

  15. 4.5 Niagara Glen Nature Areas (850 reviews)
    - Genuine Nature experience minutes from the Falls
Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks • Hiking Trails
    Niagara Glen Nature Areas image
I was AMAZED by this place! Not much new ever happens at Niagara having visited over many years, but had not seen this before. Wow. Beautiful hiking trails right down to the rivers edge, multiple routes (suggest getting a paper map or downloading, there are a lot of interconnected trails.) Took some friends from Sweden here, they loved the hiking and access to the water, it helped that we had a gorgeous fall day, and entry was FREE! Not crowded, lots of nature and away from the tourist hustle(s). A couple notes, some of the trails a bit rugged, with elevation change of maybe 60 metres, might be a tough walk in flip flops or quite slippery if raining. My wife has replacement knees, so stayed at the top, but also enjoyed a couple walking trails and wildlife photography. I would suggest 1-2 hours. See more..

Really nice hikes in Arrowhead park. It was quite busy for end of October and some of the trails were very muddy (wear good hiking boots!) but we enjoyed ourselves. 21. 4.0 Wasaga Beach Provincial Park (622 reviews)
    - Great dog beach in Beach 3
    Parks
    Wasaga Beach Provincial Park image
Beach area 3 contains a great dog beach. The sand is white and powdery soft, the beach is wide and the water stays shallow for ages with no rocks or seaweed, making it a very easy place for dogs or young children. The water was clean and clear. Parking isn’t cheap at the park, but if you have an annual pass to the provincial parks (highly recommended), it is free, and we easily found a spot even though it was a nice Sunday in August. There are restrooms available, and some grassy areas with a bit of shade for picnics. Since the water is so shallow, it is fairly warm. Our dog was leaping for joy. See more..

    Gage Park image
It was so beautiful. In addition to lights on the trees, there were also huge light installations in the shape of a snowman, present box, ornaments, moose, polar bear and more! It was really magical to skate there. I can't believe it's free! There are washrooms and skate rentals. The zamboni went through when we were there so the ice was in perfect condition. I think the skate trail is around 350-400m long and it's a loop. It was busy on a Saturday evening, but not too crazy. My family loved it and and we will definitely come back! See more..

It was peaceful and serene around 6 pm when most folks were taking a break to have dinner, we toured around the park and enjoyed the sunshine shimmering on the water and all the green surrounding it. The Swans were there too if you look at the picture you will see them at the far right in the water in background. We sat on the park bench and daydreamed as tge world went by. We then found the home we purchased in Waterloo that same day so we can come here as often as we like. See more..

I travel across the city just to walk in this park because it's so peaceful, even with the odd biker and other people. Walking close to the lake is very therapeutic. Early morning is best, especially if you catch the sunrise. when there are clouds in the sky it's usually a spectacular sunrise. The bird life is very active on the lake, river and shoreline. Occasionally you can catch a glimpse of the resident heron. There are picnic tables, very popular on weekends. 30. 4.5 Barrie Centennial Park (464 reviews)
    - Beach, boardwalk, playground
    Parks
    Barrie Centennial Park image
Huge green space overlooking Kempenfelt Bay that includes a spacious sandy beach, a long wooden boardwalk and a children's playground with an array of play structures. The beach is big enough to require 5 lifeguard chairs (currently off-season so no lifeguards on duty). The wide boardwalk provides unobstructed views of the water and can easily accommodate 2 people walking side by side on either direction. The playground here is literally a kid's paradise--aside from the usual swing, slide and monkey bars, there are climbing walls, zip line and more. The landmark fountain was already turned off when we visited on Oct 22, Sat. We kept mostly to the waterfront trail but could see that Centennial Park has shade trees and picnic tables. The only negative I can think of about this place is the outrageous parking fee, $10/hr or maximum $50/day. If one is willing to park further away, there are cheaper alternatives (even free on weekends) closer to downtown Barrie. See more..

    - One of the Best Provincial Park
    Parks
    Killbear Provincial Park image
We went camping for the 2nd time to Killbear. This is an exceptional park. A lot of things to do, a lot. They have a lot of sandy beaches to choose from so it does not get too busy or too crowded (the day use beach is not nicest though). A lot of people bike and they have a lot hiking trails. The Twin point trail is very easy to hike. Harold's point is my fave but it is kind of tricky to climb (or going down to). The Lighthouse trail is also a bit hard (for a not so athletic person like me) but there is another easier way to the lighthouse if u r coming fr the lighthouse beach. We were able to view the sunset fr granite saddle rocks but there r other location to view the sunset. Beaver dam rocks are spectacular. Our campsite (1049 granite)is big, very close to the beach and washroom. We will never get tired of going to Killbear. It is THAT awesome. See more..

    Killarney Provincial Park image
On this occasion I decided to stick to hiking (no canoeing). I did three of the hikes - The Crack, the Chikanishing Trail and the Granite Ridge Trail. I did these all in one day because of time constraints, which was pushing it a bit. If you are reasonably fit you should be able to do two of them in a day, if you are inclined to do so. As advertised by the Provincial Park, there is some steep rock scrambling at the end of the Crack. My favorite hikes were the Crack and the Chikanishing which have stunning scenery. The Granite Ridge is also a beautiful hike but, in my opinion, not as spectacular as the other two. If you are planning on head out early in the morning then I recommend that you purchase your Provincial Park entry permit the previous day, as the office at the visitor center only opens at 8.30am. If only this spot could talk. Sitting in the gazebo, looking across the river, is a fantastic view of Fort Niagara on the U.S. side. To your left, a view of Lake Ontario, all the way to Toronto. To your right, about 1/2 mile is Fort George, on the Niagara River. Lets step back in time. Can you imagine watching the battles that took place between these two forts . . . from the front row ? Now back to the present, the Gazebo is located in a small park, right on the Lakes edge. It's a great place for photo-ops but in Winter, it's a bit chilly down there ! Beautiful place for a fall hike. The trails are well marked and all start from a central parking lot because the camping areas are closed for the fall. The are maps, washrooms, picnic shelters and warm up buildings. The trails are beautiful and there were still lots of leaves on the trees for so late in the season. There is a nice long dog beach for those coming with their puppers. We went mid week and it was not crowded at all. We did see people riding their bikes, canoeing on kettles lake and just enjoying the day. We can’t wait to come back in the winter for snowshoeing or cross country skiing. See more..

Beautiful park on Mazinaw Lake with camping, hiking, and Indigenous pictographs (that range from 300 to 1000 years old) painted on the huge rock cliffs in the park. We rented a canoe on an August Friday... they were sold out when we walked by on Saturday. You can rent canoes, kayaks, or SUPs for 4, 8, or 24 hours. The Visitors Centre is a gorgeous old cabin from the Bon Echo Inn dating back to the 1920s. Campsites seemed nice with a decent amount of privacy. Trails were a bit buggy so be sure to take your bug spray and then go for a refreshing swim in the lake afterwards! A little shop and cafe offer souvenirs, drinks, baked goods, ice cream, etc. A couple of trails we wanted to do were closed due to wind damage from a storm in May. A beautiful park! See more..

Bayfront is a great place to come with friends, couples or family. The scenery is very soothing and appealing to view because it is surrounded by water. I usually come here for exercise in the spring and summer time. It has long paved trails for you to take a walk or jog around. In the summer it also has food trucks. There are washrooms located at this park and a large parking lot to park your car free of charge. I recommend this park for people who live in Hamilton and for people who live out of town and want a change of scenery. See more..

Gorgeous park built right at the water! Always lots to see and do here, great playground for the kids. Super super clean park great for large family picnics. That being said....the biggest downside to this park is the restaurant right beside it. This park has very limited parking and most needed for the elderly and children but when the restaurant parking is full all of their patrons park in the park parking lot! This should not be allowed and restaurants owners don't care as long as people keep coming in and buying their junk!I tried to visit the park the other evening but could not get any parking anywhere for line ups of restaurant patrons waiting for park dwellers to leave so they could rush right in then mosey over to the restaurant. I will be making complaints to the city as well to have this nonsense stopped! But Spencer Smith park is so beautiful and a park to check out - hopefully without having to walk ten miles to get to it! We lucked out and hapened to be there during the anniversary of the battle of Queenston Height during the war of 1812. Great job by the reenactors plus they had the monument open and we were able to climb the narrow spiral staircase to the lookout at the top. Very cool. Well worth it. See more..
