Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival image
1 the city has to bring more tail ships into the canal - for touring and pictures 2 Lake view park - why not fix the existing band shelter to host the bands there, therefor spectators can sit on the hill and in the midway to enjoy the view, we had our backs turned to the marina/mill/lake/breakwall. that would make it a more marine experience. 3 nobody likes the car show so far away, close more streets downtown if you have to - fill the streets with these beauties, maybe parade them from the vale centre to a resting spot downtown for a few hours to keep the festival closer together, not across the bridge .. my 2 cents * all in all it was great See more..

    - So good to be back!!!

    Unionville Festival image
So good to be back!!! After missing out on this festival last year due to the pandemic and other events we finally made it back this year to the Unionville Festival. This year it was held on June 4th and was a special event for us as it was my daughter's birthday as well. When I asked her what she wanted for her birthday this year, she said she wanted to go to the Unionville Festival, so off we went. The Unionville Festival is an annual event hosted by the Unionville BIA. Almost all of the businesses on Main Street Unionville offer something for families to do. The stores and restaurants are open, and some companies have booths or offer street food. It's also attended by several other vendors from the Markham area. There is much for kids to do as some of the locations have children's activities. The Varley Gallery had art-related activities for the kids. For grown-ups, there is a beer tent, and of course, the restaurant, bars and patios are open if you're looking for an 'adult' drink. Many of the shops are open for shopping and there are street vendors too. This is only a one-day festival but there is enough for two days. We had a great time as we ran into many people we knew, had some street food, and the kids had fun at the Fred Varley Gallery, we had dinner at the Old Country Inn, which doubled as one of the beer tents. It was a good day for us, as we shopped, we ate, we ran into friends and had a great time. Check out this once-a-year event for yourself. See more..

  4. 2.0 Wizards Festival (1 review)
    - Harry Potter Wizards Festival Uxbridge Ontario
Spent < 1 hour Cultural Events
This event is spread out at 3 different location requiring shuttle by school buses to each location which are located about 3 kilometres away from each other It cost $10.00 to park in a field and then register. The event costs $54.95 per person. They they put you on a bus and take you to a train station and you had to wait 3/4 of an hour before being able to board. Once seated and before the train moved either a chemical or dry ice was released which caused both my daughters to start choking so bad they had to leave the train. There was nothing on the ticket or the advertising to indicate that these chemicals were to be used so that anyone suffering from any lung ailments would know beforehand. Also the train windows were covered so you could not see out. The ride was supposed to be one hour. We took the shuttle to another park where various tents were set up where you could purchase over priced trinkets or food. However if you didn't have a previously arranged reservation, you had to get your food and go outside and eat at a picnic table in the rain. This whole event appeared to be thrown together at the last minute with very little thought or planning. I noticed and spoke with several other people who also appeared to be very disappointed as well. This is not an event I would recommend or ever go to again. See more..
