4.5National War Memorial(1.042 reviews) - Always an honour Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Monuments & Statues
This is a must see for all Canadians. Although there is no parking, you can park at city all which has very reasonable rates. There is street parking, but it is pricey. The monument itself is dedicated to the sacrifice of several generations, standing there will certainly leave you on awe. My advice is to give yourself plenty of time to taken it all in.See more..
4.5Terry Fox Monument(1.000 reviews) - A fitting tribute to one of Canada's biggest heroes Monuments & Statues
The monument area is very well set up, with very inspirational views. DO take the time to read the inscriptions, they evoke powerful emotions. Terry Fox, even though he didn't live to find out, changed Canada. Through his herculean effort, he drew attention to a serious issue, and his achievement has inspired millions of others to raise money for cancer research. But he also showed how passion can create change, and now there are 1000's of events like his Marathon that raise 100's of millions of dollars for excellent causes. The place where he actually ended his Marathon of Hope is just a few kilometres east of the monument, marked by a blue sign next to the highway, but there's no organized or safe place to stop.See more..

4.5Spirit Catcher Sculpture(288 reviews) - Iconic Barrie landmark on the waterfront Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
We approached The Spirit Catcher after a quick walk around Heritage Park and a photo op at the Heart Barrie 3D sign. Created by Canadian sculptor Ron Baird, this iconic landmark which was based on the legendary Thunderbird has stood tall on the Barrie waterfront since 1987. I like the fact that it is kinetic--that parts of it move with the wind. The movement brings life to this imposing work of art. During our Oct 22 visit, the steps leading to the base of The Spirit Catcher still served as the Indigenous community's makeshift memorial with random candles, bouquets, stuffed toys, etc. There were also giant orange planters with orange mums right out front from the previous month's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.See more..

4.0Wiarton Willie Statue(84 reviews) - Quirky and an easy-stop Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
I'm giving this quirky statue 5 stars because for what it is, it is worth those stars! This park is central to the town and has lots of parking and space. The statue is right by the parking and water, so it makes for a quick stop to snap a photo and go, if you're in a hurry. If not, the waterfront view is beautiful and there are many picnic tables and a playground for the kids. In non-Covid days, I can see this being a fun area with easy access to the shops in town.See more..
Had SUCH a great time walking around the Huntsville downtown area this afternoon, following the map to find the Group of Seven murals in the Outdoor Gallery. What a fun thing! Kudos to the Town of Huntsville and the people involved with making the murals. They're gorgeous! We enjoyed walking along the backs of the main street, and up alleys, etc. Almost like a treasure hunt! Saw some painting we hadn't seen before so it's a nice learning experience as well and SO Canadiana! This is a must do in my opinion. Popped in to "The Little Place near the Lights" for lunch as it's right on the route but there were numerous other nice shops and restaurants along the way as well. I'd highly recommend this walking tour. Top shelf!See more..
4.0Golden Hawk CF-86 Sabre Jet(69 reviews) - One of the few CF-86 Sabre Jets on public outdoor display in Canada. Monuments & Statues
This is an actual airplane mounted on a concrete tower to commemorate the memory of allied solders in all previous wars.It was erected in 1968 on Brockville's peninsula park called Blockhouse Island, which projects into the St. Lawrence River. The story of the jet use in Canada's former aerobatic precision flying team is detailed on a historic plaque nearby.See more..
If the Snow Countess is 'just a cow', then Elvis was just a singer, William Shatner was just an actor and Rob Ford was just a politician. Bask in the glow of her milky glory and pull one of her teats for good luck (it worked for me; I won a free roll up the rim coffee when I visited Timmies right after my visit). 4.5Tecumseh Monument(19 reviews) - Tecumseh Parkway and Monument - War of 1812 Must See Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
This monument is part of the Tecumseh Parkway and Monument. It commemorates a battle in the war of 1812, where the great Shawnee Chief and native warrior leader Tecumseh died. The monument has a plaque to Tecumseh. It also has a great monument in the shape of a turtle shell, that has cutouts of animals and birds representing native peoples in its ceiling. As well, there is a series of plaques that set out the notable leaders on both sides of the battle and the major events of the battle. This is a wonderful tribute, and very informative site for anyone interested in the history of this area or the War of 1812. It is also set in a beautiful natural setting, in the local countryside. Along with the Longwoods Barnquilt trail, this makes this a wonderful drive along Highway # 2.See more..

3.5James Cameron Plaque(2 reviews) - Plaque honouring a great movie director Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Monuments & Statues
Tucked away on the grass by a water body by Cummington Square in Chippawa is a plaque honouring James Cameron one of the great movie directors of our time. He is director of Terminator, Avatar and Titanic to name a few movies. The plaque is located on the grass by the riverside in the same square as the town hall. James Cameron lived here in his boyhood before moving to the US with his parents. Chippawa is a small friendly community attached to the city of Niagara Falls just about a 10 minute drive from the famous Niagara falls on the Canadian side. It is free to view and enjoy! Make sure to bring your camera and walking shoes. After taking pics by the plaque you can enjoy a nice drink and snacks at The Riverside Inn. 4.5L'Orignal Moose Statue(2 reviews) - A great spot for a photo Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Monuments & Statues
A nice addition by the Township of Champlain to welcome visitors to the village of L'Orignal. The life sized resin moose statue is displayed on a nicely landscaped pedestal beside a sign for the village. The friendly looking moose pays homage to the village's name which was likely derived from its location on the Ottawa River. The area was once known as Pointe à L'Orignal (French for "Moose Point") and was where moose crossed the river. The statue is a good photo stop for those visiting the area, as it's location is easily accessible from County Road 17. There's plenty of room to park at the diner adjacent to the statue, where you can grab a quick bite before heading out.See more..

Nearby the Town Hall in Gananoqie is an impressive monument named Private John Henry. When I read what he did, I was impressed. Here is his story: Private Henry was remembered in Ganaoque for saving several soldiers during WWI. Our soldieers capured Hill 70 and the next day the Germans attacked the Canadians big time. Private Henry had an important message to bring to the headquarters. He went risking his life to bring that message. Anyone nearby would never forget what Private Henry did. He was bringing the message with one arm. He had been wounded for his arm. He died the next day. He saved many soldiers that way. He was a hero. His monument shows his heroic actions. This is worthwhile to see!See more..
