    Lighthouses
    Lion's Head Lighthouse image
A wonderful little lighthouse located at Lion's Head on the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario. It's the gateway to a municipal harbour, one of the deepest on Gerogian Bay. A peaceful place to relax in the summer and take in the crystal clear waters and magnificent cliffs just opposite the lighthouse. Winter is just as wonderful as the ice builds up on it and the stormy waves crash over the jetty. Well worth a stop in Lion's Head to see it. See more..

This is the best place in Ontario to watch sunset. The place is just amazing. You can watch the sunset from along the beach or climb the top where the Goderich Lighthouse is located. - Beautiful sunset spot

    Kincardine Lighthouse image
Beautiful place to visit. The lighthouse is setup in an amazing spot, which gives it a charming and beautiful look when seen from the boardwalk. The side stairs add to its beauty. Good place to take lots of photos. Great place to view the sunset and also having the lighthouse as a background gives for great sunset pics. In the summer evenings of July, you have someone playing bagpipes at sunset during certain days and adds to the charm of the town. Definite stop by when in the area, especially and preferably when its close to sunset. See more..

You can still visit, but you will be unable to walk to the end of the piers, so you cannot get a close up look at the 2nd lighthouse unless you are in a boat. Head's up: you cannot go into either lighthouse, regardless, but it is a beautiful place to watch our sunsets. There is free parking at the end of Lighthouse Road. See more..

  9. 4.0 Point Clark Lighthouse (52 reviews)
    - Loved it!
    Sunday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Lighthouses
    Point Clark Lighthouse image
The Point Clark Lighthouse is a National Historic Site and was one of the first ‘imperial towers’ to flash its light. Six of these majestic towers were built by John Brown on Lake Huron and Georgian Bay in the 1850s. Built of limestone from nearby Inverhuron, the Point Clark Lighthouse stands 26.5 metres (80 feet) high, featuring 114 steps to get to the top. The stone tower is topped by a 12-sided lantern framed in cast iron, with a domed roof. A bronze lion head at each angle of the eaves directs rainwater away from the tower. The light stands 87 feet from the base of the tower. The lighthouse was acquired by Parks Canada in 1967 to commemorate the vital role of lighthouses in navigation on the Great Lakes. The lightkeeper’s dwelling, built at the same time as the Lighthouse, is now operated as a museum by the Township of Huron-Kinloss. The Point Clark Lighthouse is open for guided tours from the end of June to Labour Day. See more..

    Nottawasaga Island Lighthouse image
Great day trip on my cousins boat. Quick walk round the island and Lighthouse but not for those who don't like birds as it is a breeding ground for gulls and ganets. Crystal clear water is great for snorkelling as the granite steps down about 6 inches every ten feet down to maybe 30 foot. Like swimming in a fish tank! See more..

    - Quite a bit of a hike, but worth it!
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lighthouses
    Point Abino Lighthouse image
You CAN visit the lighthouse in the summer months. Just google the website and look at the times it is open. We drove up to the gate and a nice older woman greeted us and told us we could park wherever. She gave us waivers to sign and told us the rules. Basically, no taking photos of the houses (just lighthouse and lake)... stay only on the main road, etc. You get a pass to wear around your neck. Bad: It's a bit far. My older mother had quite a bit of difficulty walking to it (okay, I did a bit too!!)... it's about a 1.8 mile round trip walk. The people who live there gave you the evil eye like you were trespassing on their private time. The lighthouse is gorgeous though, and a must see if you can! It was (obviously) locked since we weren't on an official tour but you can peek into the windows. Overall, I think the gate keepers should offer bicycles for rent to make some extra money. I would have paid $5 to rent a bike instead of walk! See more..
  15. 4.5 Port Colborne Lighthouses (16 reviews)
    - A Rare Lighthouse Experience!
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lighthouses
    Port Colborne Lighthouses image
The Port Colborne Lighthouses include 2 lighthouses. There is a breakwall and at each end is a lighthouse. One was light only and the other a fog horn and lighthouse. During the Canal Days celebration in August tours are offered. Check the internet for the days and times. The lighthouses offer a close up view of ships and boats entering and exiting the Welland Canal. There is a group called Friends of Port Colborne Lighthouses working on the preservation. A man named Erno Rossi is the leader. Find him and get more information. In 2014 I joined the group and helped with the tours. If you are a lighthouse groupie then don't miss these. See more..

    - Attractive Great Lakes Lighthouse

    Prescott Lighthouse image
This very attractive lighthouse is along the waterfront of Prescott. When viewed from the waterfront it appears to be a regular lighthouse but when you are on water street it turns out to be an ice cream store. Worth seeing if you are along the waterfront. Well maintained. See more..

This pier has a breathtaking view of Lake Erie, on any given day! Great for the whole family, walking or fishing from pier. Lots of benches to rest on, sunbath on, read a book and enjoy the fresh air. People are very friendly. Lots of parking for cars and trailers. Park right next door, for the kids to enjoy themselves. Gazebo further down to have a picnic and lovely maintained gardens, with well kept plants. Place to put your boat in the water. Nice sandy beach to stroll along. All kinds of fish to catch, including lots of perch, gar, bass and pike. My family and i go there at least 3-5 times spring, summer and fall. Look forward to seeing you there! Enjoy... See more..

  19. 4.0 Bois Blanc Island Lighthouse & Blockhouse (5 reviews)
    - Good visit... Sad though
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lighthouses
Bois Blanc Island Lighthouse & Blockhouse image
We took the kids over to see where my wife and I met in the summer of 1992... So much of the original park has been torn down that a lot of landmarks are now gone. The new block house was very interesting to see. With all the money that has been raised and (mis)spent on the HMS Detroit project, perhaps the lighthouse will one day be refurbished. Worth the visit whether or not you have a history with Boblo! See more..

    Sand Point Lighthouse image
I didn't wanted to post any review here but let give the Cesar what is Cesar's. The Lighthouse exists is an interesting wooden building at the end of a road named Wharf Rd. in the Hamlet of Sand Point. I think is still functional, never was here during night to see if is really working, and it can be interesting to see it but only if you are in the area. The township is Braeside, forgot to mention it. The address will be: Wharf Rd, Braeside, ON K0A 1G0, Canada Please do the necessary changes. See more..

    - Great place to chill and munch some snackys.
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lighthouses
The playground pirate ship, feeding fish at the hatcheries and digging into some snacks under the bridges is a local fare. Been loving this scene since we came to Canada in the 70's. You'll enjoy its calming feel while viewing the tankers cruise the St Clair river. Relax and enjoy. Grab a cone and fries the way it should be enjoyed. See more..

I had a bit of trouble finding this lighthouse at first. You can catch a quick glimpse of it from William Street (top of a small hill ) however the best way to see it up close is to drive to the end of Saint Mary's Crescent. I think this one is kind of cute. It's a small attractive red and white structure, just big enough to be cozy. See more..
