    Lynde Shores Conservation Area image
Ran thru this place the other day, it is located on Bloor Street in Whitby near the Ajax border. It's a pay and display location, and not dog friendly. Before social distancing it was great for picnics, nature walks, etc, if you had small children this was the place to take them. Now with COVID-19 the latrines are closed, the parking lot is packed, and there are much too many folks there. There is a pokemon gym at the entrance, and no Wi-Fi. See more..

  11. 4.5 The Friendship Trail (48 reviews)
    - The BEST Bike trail in all over WNY and Southern Canada
    Biking Trails
    The Friendship Trail image
We absolutely love this bike trail and try to do it at least 2x a year. The Friendship trail rides from Fort Erie to Port Colborne. This trail is part of the Golden Horseshoe. This trail is wide and smooth. It great to ride along your biking companion. In some parts you go thru old beach cottages and then thru woods and then thru farmers fields. It is so relaxing to ride this and have what feels like the world to yourself. It is peaceful and so quiet in some parts. In Port Colborne you will then pass over the Welland Canal and seem so large lake freighters pass by. Stop along at the shops and then ride the trail to the end and stop at Sugar Loaf Marina and park. It so relaxing. I can not say enough good things about this trail. It's just amazing and a true treasure to have! See more..

This conservation area is great for all types of groups and all types of activities! There is a lot of space for picnics and trails for hiking or biking. The best part is that it is completely free, but I wish there was a clear map or markings along the trails because it can be confusing. Still, this is a wonderful place to keep coming back to. Biking Trails
    Old Railway Bike Trail image
Was so disappointed as I had hoped to do an organised ride with an adventure tour group but twas all booked up! I did ask if there was another means to do a bike ride and they said no. That was a little white lie as found that one could rent bikes from Algonquin Park Outfitters Lake of Two Rivers Store. One can't book ahead to ensure you get a bike but they have plenty. Did a 2h ride and it was truly pleasurable seeing the leaves transitioning to a rainbow of colours. Lakes abound on the trail but sadly didn't see any wildlife ( someone had seen a bear the day before)! 'Twas a great memorable experience. See more..

Joseph Kolodzie Oshawa Creek Bike Path image
A truly underused attraction that should see more traffic than it does. The path is a tiny part of the lakeshore path that runs across the north shore of Lake Ontario and goes through the Lakeview parks and joins up with the path that follows the Oshawa Creek. If you bike it, make sure you have a bell on your bike to warn dog walkers and people with small children of your presence. If you are walking, watch out for idiot who do not have bells on their bikes. See more..

    - A great walking site

Lorne C. Henderson Conservation Area image
Henderson Conservation Area is a grand place for a Spring, Summer and Winter walking. The weirs flooding in the spring and late winter make it problematic, but it is generally fine. I don't walk in the summer there because of the camping on site. There are just too many people there for my taste, but they support the area and I am definitely glad of that. Great place for geocaching. See more..
