Camping - Spring 2022 Update With the summer upon us, we wanted to provide some updates. We are still asking visitors to refrain from camping and fire-making in the Reserve for the time being. We are working very hard with the Ministry of Environment to establish official campsite locations that will facilitate a great camping experience, while also conserving the Barrens' key environmental attributes. Our goal is to have these campsites operational in 2022. See more..

I have been here a few times and they had the observatory open to view Saturn. They also had a lot of astronomy experts set up their telescopes on the grounds to see the moon, mars and the Milky Way. Amazing experience. They used to have some talks as well. See more..
  4. 5.0 Buckhorn Observatory (2 reviews)
    - Excellent! We learned SO much!!
    Observatories & Planetariums
A great way to spend an evening! We viewed Saturn through a massive telescope (looked like a canon that someone could get shot out of), and also viewed many special stars, clusters, etc. through the telescopes and specialized binoculars. As someone who knows virtually nothing about astronomy, I can honestly say that I learned a ton from this visit. John explained things so well, in plain language (not techie-talk), and also pointed out many constellations that we viewed with the naked eye. Bug spray, long sleeves and pants (and a hat with a bug net, if you have one) are highly recommended, as the visit takes place after dark, outside, when the mosquitos are in full force. The host is EXCELLENT, a great teacher who is clearly passionate about astronomy. Definitely worth a visit!! See more..
