    Cobourg Beach image
It was a long drive but we did decide to visit this beach to enjoy the calmness of Lake Ontario on a hot day. It is a pretty beach in a beautiful town of cobourg. Washrooms are clean and available close to beach. There are rides and a splash pad for kids to enjoy. We loved this each and I recommend this beach for friends and family visit. See more..
  2. 4.0 Sauble Beach (526 reviews)
    - Great place. Poor reviews are irrational
    Beaches
    Sauble Beach image
Sauble Beach is amazing. It is easy to understand why there are 425 good/excellent reviews and only 27 bad comments. I looked at the negative reviews to discover why some gave Sauble a poor rating. The answer was abundantly clear. Poor ratings came from people who got a ticket for violating the posted rules. The signs are large and plentiful. The sign includes pictures. A picture of a BBQ with an X over it is a very clear message. Some complained they did not receive a warning. The signs on the beach were ample warning. If the posted speed drops to 50, and you continue to drive at 80 you may get fined. It is that simple. One complaint stated they needed heat for a rice cooker on the beach and were given a fine. A BBQ to cook or heat is a violation and the sign was the warning. The fines are high to be a deterrent, not a revenue grab. Stop whining and obey the law. Don't blame the by-law officer for not letting you off with a warning. If you disregarded the sign, don't pass the blame. See more..
  3. 4.5 Grand Bend Beach (497 reviews)
    - One of the best beaches in Ontario
    Beaches
    Grand Bend Beach image
One of the best beaches I've ever been to. The warm water of Lake Huron during this summer time is perfect for a dip. The beach was crowded but people started to leave around 6 pm and there were very few left for the sunset. It was quiet, peaceful and very serene late in the evening and the sunset was just beautiful! Someone playing guitar at a distance added to the charm of the evening :) See more..

  7. 4.5 Port Stanley Beach (244 reviews)

    Port Stanley Beach image
Great beach but parking meter machines are a nightmare! Instructions are inaccurate. Took at least 15 minutes to figure it out the first time. We were by far not the only ones struggling. Saw so many folks frustrated and spending far too long at the machine (not their fault) causing line-ups and thereby more frustration. Port Stanley: you are beautiful and have much to offer but please do something about these terrible parking machines, including the ones at the main beach and the boat launch area. See more..

  10. 4.5 Providence Bay Beach (107 reviews)
    - Beautiful beach & boardwalk on Lake Huron
    Beaches
    Providence Bay Beach image
Absolutely loved the beach and boardwalk. Such a beautiful spot! I kind of think it’s too bad they put a playground right on the beach so there is less space for beach-goers...but it’s still a neat idea. There is a lot of beachfront as well. The boardwalk hugs the beach and ends at one point. It’s not a long walk so it’s doable for anyone that can’t go far. It was a hot day when we visited and didn’t have our swimsuits so we only Wales the boardwalk and didn’t go for a swim. See more..
  11. 4.0 Nickel Beach (102 reviews)
    - The best beach experience
    Sunday: Beaches
    Nickel Beach image
We went to this beach several times this summer. The first two times we got stuck in the sand and barely got our truck out. Just as we decided to visit less or look for an alternative the people who manage the beach removed the extra sand , so it became possible to drive. That was a game changer ! We are now going religiously! We park right by the water, set up our gazebo and tent which allows for proper social distancing. We don't have to carry anything by hand. Just drive in, set up in 10 min. and enjoy. It is the best beach around! Well worth the parking fee. Staff is amazing ! They clean the beach in the morning, collect garbage in the afternoon and patrol to ensure social distancing is followed. Five star experience all around! See more..
  12. 4.5 Cove Beach (101 reviews)
    - Wow Beach
    Beaches
    Cove Beach image
A beautiful tiny town with blue waters like Caribbean sea. The area is good for swimming, not too crowded as it is far from GTA and has a picnic area where one can do barbeque too. We loved the blue waters, kids enjoyed swimming, playing in park and also the place for picnic was just what was required in this COVID era. People were keeping to themselves observing public health guidelines for COVID. There are shops for your taste buds. The travel from waterloo region was also picturesque. See more..
  13. 4.5 Pebble Beach (68 reviews)
    - Not so much Pebble Beach as small rock beach
    Spent < 1 hour Beaches
    Pebble Beach image
The walk down to the beach is very steep and on soft sand if you need stability take a walking stick from the pile at the top. Once you get down the views are spectacular. I arrived just after sunrise and the pinky colour of the sky against the blue of the water and the colours of the rocks were stunning. The rocks are large about 15 to 20 cm in size and of all different colors. It’s truly it was stunning to see all of the different rocks and the large pieces of driftwood combined on the beach. Beaches
    Station Beach image
I am afraid to give this beach a great review because it has been so lovely and peaceful each time I go, that I am afraid of it getting overrun with people like many of the other beaches. Nevertheless, I love this beach. Whether I go on my own or with family, I always have a good time here. Ample parking, lots of picnic tables, nice trail along the beach, decent amount of sandy area, play structure nearby, lighthouse to walk to, pier to jump off, bathrooms to change in, and some public pieces of art to see. One of my favourite places to be on a sunny summer day. See more..

    - Topless Beach Right Next Door
    Beaches
    Sandpoint Beach image
In the summer you sometimes see topless sunbathing here, no trip to Europe needed. The western part of the beach is mostly used by families and there is a children's play land and washrooms. To the east, on the beach or on the grassy area of the park is where you sometimes see the topless women. And as an added bonus if you see one you likely will see more as they are often in pairs or groups. Of course this time of year its too cold but was a great place to take my dog for a walk and think back to last summer See more..
  18. 3.5 Pleasant Beach (35 reviews)
    - Interesting town
    Beaches
    Pleasant Beach image
If you get a chance please try to visit this pleasant town on the shore of Lake Erie. The duchess and I have been shopping for a retirement home for a few months and this ticked a lot of boxes for us. Water looked clean, a little cool, and fairly calm. Liked that there were no 'big box' stores nearby....it was also a bit of a problem because we didn't see a lot of options for groceries. I am told that the drive to Buffalo is so quick and easy that its your best bet. There is a nice little bike path that runs just inland from the beach front homes - looks like a great place to walk the dog or jog. The crowd here seemed a little older - particularly when compared to the kids at Wasaga or Grand Bend. Overall a nice downtown strip with lots of shopping opportunities. See more..

    Northwinds Beach image
We took our friends to Northwinds Beach. We brought our SUP and kayak and it was a great place to paddle. The water was clear and calm. There are a few picnic tables if you want to bring your lunch. My one complaint is that there isn't enough parking. If you don't get there early, you won't get a spot. See more..
  20. 4.0 East Beach (28 reviews)
    - Clean and pretty spot

    East Beach image
It was a sunny day in November and we decided to visit East Beach. Lake Erie was peaceful that day so visit was memorable to this serene site. There are public washrooms but were closed due to COVID which is understandable. People were maintaining social distancing. The sandy beach was clean and view was mesmerizing. It was not at all crowded as it was not a summer day. There was plenty of parking. The lighthouse and museum is nearby but we did not visit because of restrictions. A gem to be explored in summer. Long Beach Conservation Area image
It wasn’t difficult to find Long Beach. As I parked, I noticed that there were a lot of people on the beach. As I approached the lake, I notices some people boating and others were swimming in the lake. It was safe to be in the lake! Wow! A bonus! The sand was soft and warm thanks to the sun. Even though it was the middle of the week, there were quite a lot of people. Some were playing volleyball. That sounds fun! There were condos on the beach. I do believe they are rentals. The nice thing about it, we are close to the beach! I enjoy beaches, especially if I can go into the water! See more..
  22. 3.5 Highland Glen Conservation Area (23 reviews)
    - Boating , Beach and Picnic

    Highland Glen Conservation Area image
A quiet small park with a grassy area for the children to run about. A small beach with some sand in places with small gravel mix. A wonderful access for kayak and canoe entry onto Lake Huron. Check for wind conditions, you do not want much more than 5km from the North, otherwise much more heavy swells and mini white caps for the paddlers. South winds are no problem. An excellent boat ramp for fishing, ski boat enthusiast. Also a charm for wave runners. Best part, no charge. Located 10 miles north of 402, using hwy 21 exit and north on Heritage rd, till the road ends. Driveway off slightly to the right across the road. Its quiet safe and access from the U.S.A Michigan Port Huron. Best you fuel for the boat, propane for the B.B.Q. See more..
  23. 4.0 James N. Allan Provincial Park (19 reviews)
    - Shh! Don't tell anyone about this hidden jewel
Beaches • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks
James N. Allan Provincial Park image
We discovered this park and Mrynham Beach several years ago by accident. Sign on King's Row is small and not angled for good viewing, and long gravel road entrance hides this jewel. The beach on the east side is sandy and shallow - great for kids. The other side is rockier and more breezy. There are no facilities (well there is an outhouse if you are desperate!) but there is also no entrance fee. We were there on a hot August Sunday afternoon and it was the busiest we have seen it and even then it was not crowded. But perhaps people are hearing about it. See more..

  25. 3.0 Willow Beach Conservation Area (16 reviews)

    Willow Beach Conservation Area image
Although parking is plentiful it fills up quickly. It costs about $30 per car to park and is monitored rigorously in the spring/summer. On weekends it's crowded and you can't usually find parking past noon. No parking on side streets. Folks visiting the area usually bring sun shade tents and BBQ's and spend the day. The beach is rocky in areas and sandy in other areas. Water is clear with a hard sand bottom. A few rocks but no sea weed. Boats and water craft are kept back from the swimming area by buoys and markers. It's a very shallow and gradual entry. Great for families and those learning to swim. See more..

  27. 4.0 Wahnekewening Beach (13 reviews)
    - Shallow sandy Georgian Bay beach of Lake Huron view across to Collingwood Blue Mountains
    Beaches
    Wahnekewening Beach image
A most serene small freshwater beach area of Tiny Township in Ontario. Quiet. Setup for local folk and homes/cottages nearby, with outhouses by entrance. Located further north along shoreline from busy public Wasaga Beach and Balm Beach. Parking can be difficult, strictly enforced, requiring permits, or drop off and park further away. Tends to overflow on summer weekends. Weekdays are less crowded and evenings with glorious sunsets. Small variety store for snacks and at corner, Italian pasta restaurant with takeout pizzas. As always, keep an eye on little ones, wear life jackets when kayaking, windsurfing, etc. Pristine waters, can see depths when calm. Looks calm and still at times which can shift to turbulent white caps. Can have strong currents further out and change temperament with winds and storms. Sunhats, sunscreen, umbrellas needed as no natural shade. No picnic tables. Please take away your own garbage, cigarette butts: keep it pristine and beautiful. See more..

There's a few too many human-eating insects for my liking - but it IS a conservation area. The view is quite nice - and the pavillion is so nice for a family or school reunion. I don't fish - but it seems that many do like to do that here. Lots of space and lots of parking. It's a nice little park. (My grandfather operated the crane that took the gravel out of the "lake" so maybe I'm a little bit biased.) See more..
  30. 3.0 Ipperwash Beach (8 reviews)
    - Top beach with free parking
    Beaches
    Ipperwash Beach image
Ipperwash beach is just opposite if you have been in Grand Bend.It is nice, secluded and kind of isolated. There are ample spaces to park in summer if you go early in the day. We went on September and the beach was very empty. Currently the water level is high which reduces the beach area. The access to beach is through stairs and they are well maintained. There are lot of cottages in that area with their own private space; just ensure that we do not encroach that area. Otherwise, the experience was pretty good. Tips: would be to bring your own food as I did not see any shop nearby. See more..

Parking is very close to the water so it was easy to transport our SUPs. It's shallow, as mentioned so water was a good temperature. It's not a very big beach but quite wide. Unfortunately because of the extended heat wave, the bacterial content was high and it was “ swim at your own risk.” However, this was the cleanest beach we found along the Lake Erie shoreline. It is cleaned daily and the water is tested by the Dept, of Health weekly. There is a mat walkway and a beach volleyball net. Snacks are available just across the road which runs down to the marina. Above the beach via a stairway, there is a nice playground and small splash pad. The kids were excited to find several pieces of sea glass on the water’s edge. A great outing! See more..

Knowing this place exists however, makes us happy. Overall rating: 6/10 I was very thankful for public washrooms A nice picnic area Parking lot was packed Views are pretty See more..
