Couldn't reach by phone so took a chance on driving out here from St Thomas. Place was blocked but the hostess found a table for my wife and me. Service was a little slower than we had anticipated but, the wait was more than worth it. My wife had the Chili with Caesar salad and her surprise was the large size of the portion. I opted for the salmon and shrimp with a turmeric cream sauce and what a treat. It was served with what I was expecting to be a very basic green salad. Nothing basic here! We moved to Ontario almost 3 years ago and I have to say this was by far the best restaurant meal I've had in those 3 years. Next time we'll make a reservation. Studio Tour 2022- we found the barn has been expanded to accommodate more pottery and wooden items. The old wood fired stove with a water reservoir is a piece of history. Lisa is a wealth of information on creating pottery. She explained the firing process in their outdoor kiln. It is amazing how much wood one firing requires! Very interesting stop!See more..

So quaint! We drove down Crooked House Road and up the driveway. A man was coming towards us on an ATV. Turned out this was the owner, Grahame Wales. He is a retired principal who calls himself “the hairy potter”. Good sense of humour! He directed us up the hill to a small pottery studio made of logs just like their home. Soon, his wife Debbie joined us. She is also a retired teacher. She was pleasant and very helpful. Their wares are beautifully presented and she hunted through various baskets to find me a gift on my $20 budget- she made it happen for me with a bit of a reduction and taxes included!! I got a small “anything” bowl with a plate/ lid for micro wave purposes. The studio also displayed some lovely jewelry pieces made by their daughter. We really enjoyed the rustic buildings, the array of pottery and the conversation. I recommend the studio as a great “something to do” in Haliburton.See more..
