    Sault Ste. Marie Boardwalk image
Easy and manageable path for all abilities. Along the waterfront and so you can watch all the comings and goings on the water, view the huge bridge than spans from the USA to Canada, watch sunsets and huge ships. Depending on the time of year you can walk through beautiful gardens by city hall. Stop into the Art Gallery if it's open. A really wonderful area of the city and a great addition along the waterfront. Bravo to SSM for having the forethought to preserve this scenic area for all to enjoy. See more..

    - Almonte Riverwalk at golden hour

    Almonte Riverwalk image
Almonte is a very charming town and the Riverwalk trail is a must to do in this small town. We came there at the golden hour and the views of the river and waterfalls were just breathtaking. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to visit any of the little shops or restaurants along the river but I know for sure that I will gladly make a detour on a way to Ottawa to visit this beautiful town again. I just turned off the beaten path and followed the road as long as it could go, and showed up here. Great view of the Georgian Bay and some nice explanatory panels on local wildlife and history, and a compass-rose sculpture. And while I was walking along, I spotted a muskrat! That made my day. Very tranquil and quiet. See more..

    - Fall explorations

    Caledon Trailway image
Wow, what a lovely outdoor spot to enjoy the terrain, foliage and fresh air! This trail stretches from Terra Cotta to Palgrave with many entry points. It is wide and level with a solid base of compressed gravel. Good for walking, cycling, strollers, wheelchairs and I understand horses. We have only covered two sections so far but will be back to explore more and in different seasons. Lots to see and experience with the ability to socially distance. We will come to do the whole trail even if it means snow shoes when winter arrives. See more..
  10. 5.0 Sunset Villa (2 reviews)
    - Quite the place

    Sunset Villa image
This is the home of the Danish Club which just celebrated constitution day on sunday--lots of fun. The grounds contain a wonderful Danish restaurant and a trailer park and a modern Danish cemetery -- that seems more like a garden. you don't have to be a member or Danish to come by and enjoy. If its one complaint I have its that you can only order full meals at the restaurant in the evening ,the lunch menu is open face danish sandwiches--the plus side is scrambled egg and eel are delicious. Its a good place to be adventurous. See more..

We found this beautiful park. We could walk around a fountain in the lake. There were huge stones to sit on. The highlight was the fountain. There were trees as well. Great for hiking! We certainly liked that park! Great for walking and enjoying the view. The fountain was the best of all. Wow! Worthwhile to see! See more..

  15. 5.0 Historic Iron Mines Caland & Steep Rock (1 review)
    - Beautiful views and lots of history to uncover!
Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Mines • Scenic Walking Areas
Historic Iron Mines Caland & Steep Rock image
From the moment you arrive in Atikokan there is no doubt that the town has a rich mining history which meant visiting the mines was a must see. The Steep Rock mine by far has the best views. We spent a little over 2 hours just sightseeing. Every so often you may find remnants of old mine buildings and equipment which makes it a fun place to explore. The government is currently in the process of removing a lot of this stuff since it was all buried when the mine closed but there are still so many things to see and explore. I suggest driving around the mine site since it's so large and don't wear white shoes - the high iron levels in the area mean you will leave with red stains on your soles. See more..

  17. 3.0 Ritchie Falls (1 review)
    - Ritchie Falls Ontario

    Ritchie Falls image
This falls is nicely tucked away from a regional road and hence secluded from most traffic and foot fall. There are a few spot for cars (4 max) while one is closet to the falls. The approach to the water is not steep and the rocks provide several spots to view/sit. This falls does not appear to be suitable for a swim though. See more..
