we had always known of this place without being there. We now visited in late October....relatively quiet, with the two local hostelries recently closed for the season. Very little parking( could be a REAL problem in summer!). Very lovely views over the main lake and the ferry at Glenora, as well as the surprisingly large lake on the hill itself. Well with a visit! 5. 4.5 Spencer Smith Park (278 reviews)
    - bummed out because no parking - I'm elderly.

    Spencer Smith Park image
Gorgeous park built right at the water! Always lots to see and do here, great playground for the kids. Super super clean park great for large family picnics. That being said....the biggest downside to this park is the restaurant right beside it. This park has very limited parking and most needed for the elderly and children but when the restaurant parking is full all of their patrons park in the park parking lot! This should not be allowed and restaurants owners don't care as long as people keep coming in and buying their junk!I tried to visit the park the other evening but could not get any parking anywhere for line ups of restaurant patrons waiting for park dwellers to leave so they could rush right in then mosey over to the restaurant. I will be making complaints to the city as well to have this nonsense stopped! But Spencer Smith park is so beautiful and a park to check out - hopefully without having to walk ten miles to get to it! A cool experience on first day of Spring, 2021. Wow the views of Frozen Lake Muskoka in Gravenhurst was truly a cool experience literally. It was bright and sunny but the Lake Muskoka was frozen so we experienced a chilly experience weather wise and a cool experience literally with breathtaking views across frozen lake. We decided to drive to Muskoka to enjoy first day of Spring and we were overwhelmed by the beauty of this region all around the year . We enjoyed frozen Lake Muskoka as much as we love the fall colors in this region. See more..

One of the lovelist parks that I have ever seen. It is the perfect combination. You can enjoy strolling along the lake, or sitting nearby the playgrounds for kids to have fun. And try to find the different birds that are hidden within the trees ;) Nice place to take fabulous photos. There is four parking areas, so try to choose the right one nearby the area that you are interested in. There is open-air gym so you and your family can have so much fun. In summer, don't miss the splash pad area. See more..

    Valens Conservation Area image
We visited Valens beach and had a great day. The sand was very well-groomed and soft. The water was clear but too cold to go in very far. We were lucky to watch a "free airshow" while we ate our picnic lunch... There was a pilot doing aerial acrobatics high above and it was a lot of fun to watch. We'll return to Valens regularly, it was a great experience and included with our Conservation Pass. See more..

    - A Great Place Not-to-Far from Town!
Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Christie Lake Conservation Area image
This is a wonderful conservation area! There is a lot to do here and worth a day at least and if you are local, I'd recommend as a regular place to visit. The lake is warm and has a nice beach- when we were there, there was a bunch of inflatable bouncy things at the beach that looked really fun! We didn't use them as we rented canoes and floated around the tranquil and beautiful lake- highly recommended. There is an entrance fee, but it is modest and goes to a good cause. If I were local, I'd consider an annual pass... Parking is ample and free (part of admission, I guess) The staff we met were all polite and helpful. See more..

    - Nice early autumn hike
    Bodies of Water
    Westminster Ponds image
Living in London and this year being cautious about where we go, it was our goal to explore some of the hiking trails in the city. We parked at the London Tourism Welcome Centre, 696 Wellington Road and walked in. After taking a pic of the map, we decided on the loop that circles Spettigue Pond. 4km in 1 hour, 10 minutes, at a strolling pace. I was happy that I wore running shoes rather than sandals. Lots of tree roots to step over in many areas. Very nice dock overlooking Spettigue to see the size of the pond and take some nice pics. Some small uphill and down. I wouldn't recommend walking here soon after a rainfall. Dirt paths definitely would be slippery. See more..

    The Minden River Walk image
There is plenty of free parking @ The Cultural Centre on Bobcaygeon St. just steps from the entrance to the boardwalk which is marked by a high derrick. The boardwalk crosses a marsh and is badly in need of repairs. Squares of wood have been nailed down to cover rotting planks. I believe fund raising is in progress. By following the board walk, you come out at the river walk. The River walk is picturesque and well maintained with a couple of bridges crossing the Gull River, colourful flowers and fall leaves- a photo op and a serene way to get a bit of exercise. There are some sculptures closer to downtown. See more..

    Eldorado Park image
We were trying to catch the Salmon Run at Credit River so we decided to visit Eldorado Park in Brampton. The salmon migration, or run, up the Credit River is a sign that summer is ending and autumn is around the corner. The determination of these fish is quite a sight. This the first time we had visited this park just to see the salmon migration and now this has become our favourite hang out place. We decided to have lunch at one of the numerous picnic tables dotting the huge park. The park has a children’s playground, camp grounds, picnic areas and a pool. After our hearty lunch we went straight to the river bank to check whether we can see the salmons jumping .Unfortunately we were not lucky to see the salmon run but we saw some salmons in the river.Beautiful wildflowers grow along the river banks which provides a cheery and colourful atmosphere to this area of the park. Blue Lake Provincial Park image
This camp ground is one of a kind. We arrived late at night around 11pm-12am and the staffs left a map outside of the office to make sure that we don't get lost. The rangers were so kind, they keep telling us what we did wrong for educational purposes. The washrooms are clean and well maintained. The campsite are covered with tall trees especially the one we rent. The scenery is just mind blowing. Lots of places to explore. There are also hiking spots from 1km to 4 km to 11 km long. The lake was clean, you can literally see the bottom of the lake with your naked eyes. There were few mosquitoes which is good compared to other camp grounds. The only thing i would like to see is "more kayaks available for renting". We are all students and could not afford to buy our very own kayaks. Overall, a must place to go! We will definitely come back next year and the year after that and the year after the next year :3 See more..

Nice viewing platform overlooking the Tay Marsh. No dogs are allowed so the wildlife is not disturbed and you don’t have to watch your step.
